Modern AUs are really interesting in this fandom. (Or really anything with a cultivation or ancient setting.) Trying to find modern equivalence to character archetypes and story beats is fascinating to me. Plus there's the reincarnation possibilities. Does this universe have cultivation? So many story options.

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts in general but I do have a question. What do you think the cast of MDZS studied in college?

Personally I think WWX probably studied engineering, art or both.

LWJ probably studies something like music, philosophy or both.

Oh and JC joined the army but got a 4 yr in business or something to become an officer.

Honestly, I want to write a fanfic about my OC and the MDZS characters, but I'm way too lazy and have zero writing motivation 😭

Most of the story just lives inside my head and in ChatGPT roleplay chats at this point. Even my current Thai Ver. fanfic has been sitting unfinished forever lmao.

So now I’m wondering if I should just tell the story through my drawings instead of writing an actual novel 😂

The thing is, I really want people to know about the two schools in my AU. Both the adult MDZS cast and the juniors studied there (the adults are alumni now).

What makes it special is that the schools are based on a legendary Thai comic series that basically every Thai kid knows. It was even translated into four languages: Malay, Chinese, English, and Korean.

I really hope I'm allowed to ask this here, if not I will take it down. I started watching the drama the other day and I'm really really enjoying it. This is the first time I'm getting into danmei or really any Chinese media, so I'm a little confused about the names. Can someone explain what a formal name is and how they work? Is Wei Wuxian's formal name Wuxian or Ying? I understand that it's important that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji use the specific names with each other but I don't get why, if that makes sense. Thanks in advance!

I'm rereading the extras for the first time in a few years and the post-canon flashback where Xue Yang tries persuading Jin Guangyao to get Chenqing has struck a chord with me. (Whatever happened to crossposting? I asked this on the main and fanfiction subs but wanted to inquire here as well).

"Xue-gongzi really is adept at imposing the impossible on others," Jin Guangyao said. "Do you think I never tried? Not everything is that simple. Jiang Wanyin is obsessed to the point of madness. He thinks Wei Wuxian is still alive. If Wei Wuxian does return, he might not come for his sword, but he'd definitely come for Chenqing. And so, Jiang Wanyin absolutely will not hand it over. If I said so much as another word on the subject, he'd snap."

Can anyone recommend fanfiction remotely focusing on this (or about JC spiraling after Wei Wuxian's death in general?) Thanks!

I'm almost done with all of mxtx books and I wanna extend my collection a bit but have no idea what's out there. I'm open for most kind of Plots and have barely any boundaries (only on heavy stuff like incest or age differences with minors)
