I have tried to reset my Apple iPod shuffle on my Mac Air M1. My iPod was detected successfully and also showing disk drive to copy files to the storage. While resetting, It was taking a lot of time and I waited nearly 15 to 20mins and unable to process this. Found stuck and the iPod really seems not compatible with my MacBook as the orange light is blinking but no progress with the resetting. Then I have tried to reset using my friend’s windows laptop which is a basic one (HP i3 processor) and installed iTunes software on it. Then I connected my shuffle to it and it detected successfully. I tried performing the same reset process on this windows laptop. On a flash speed, the shuffle resetted in 5 seconds. Boom! Does anyone have any idea of what happened and what to do to connect my shuffle to my MacBook?

I've used windows and linux (mostly arch or debian based) equally for the last 1.5 decades, this is the first time i'll use an apple device. Are there things I should know? I am pretty much new to apple.

I’m really stuck choosing between two MacBook Air M4 options and would appreciate some advice:

Option 1:

- 13-inch display

- 24GB RAM

- 512GB storage

Option 2:

- 15-inch display

- 16GB RAM

- 512GB storage

For context:

- I have 2 years of high school left, and then I’ll be doing a 4-year Computer Science degree (AI/ML stuff)

- So I want this laptop to last me around 6 years total

- I’ll be doing coding(web dev, python, c++), multitasking, ML work, and general student stuff

For background :

I’ve been using a 2016 Dell Inspiron (15.6") for years, with i3 5005U 12/ 256, so I’m used to a bigger screen. I’m worried that the 13-inch might feel too cramped, especially for coding.

So I’m confused:

-> Should I prioritize more RAM (24GB) for longevity and performance?

-> Or go for the bigger 15-inch display for comfort and usability?

Would love to hear from people in CS or devs who’ve faced a similar choice.

I recently bought a 13-inch MacBook Air M4 (512GB storage, 24GB unified memory) through Apple Certified Refurbished for €1150, and I’m really happy with it so far.

However, I now see new deals on the MacBook Air M5 — specifically the 13-inch model with 512GB storage but only 16GB unified memory for €1099. Now I’m starting to doubt my choice.

Would it make sense to return the M4 and go for the newer M5 with less memory, or would that be a bad trade-off?

Our usage is relatively light. We have two user accounts on macOS and both are often logged in at the same time. My girlfriend tends to have lots of browser tabs open and uses Canva, while I occasionally play some games and mostly do general browsing and document work.

What would you recommend? Long-term usability is important to us — ideally, the MacBook should still feel capable in 4–5 years and retain decent resale value.

i bought the macbook air M5 and the lcd with 60hz screen is bothering the heck out of me. i mean i could have gotten a oled with 120hz at this price and i wouldnt notice the difference with the cpu perfomance. its only been like 2 weeks but i almost feel like selling it and buying a asus oled 120 hz laptop.

I'm currently a noob at buying Apple products, and planning to buy my first ever brand new Mac.

Now, there's a student discount and a cashback discount currently active in India, but I'm not sure whether I can club them both in a single purchase or not. I ideally want to club them both.

Have anyone done this in India? If yes, please help me out with the process? Any suggestions or any potential roadblocks that I should be aware of?

Normally my M3 MBA is a cold as a slab of concrete- it -never- gets warm, save a little bit when it's charging. I noticed later in the evening and into this morning, it was warmer than usual. NOT hot- just warmer. I live with this thing so I notice right away. I have a feeling it was indexing or doing some hidden voodoo background task. Amiright?

I'm currently a student heading up to SHS here in the philippines, I've been looking at Apple Macbooks because of their resale value and they're value in general and I think it seems to one up most Windows laptops in my case.

My budget MAX is 90,000PHP or almost $1,500 and I hope to still have some left for the peripherals as I'm not good with a track pad.

I plan to use the Laptop all the way to perhaps even the first 2 years when I officially become a Software Dev/Eng and hope that i wont have to buy anything else till then.

Hi all, I am planning to take masters in AI, and I am currently a practicing data scientist for 8 years at an energy company. I have been using my home desktop PC for personal ML experiments and work laptop for work related stuff. Need a laptop for my masters, and I am thinking of buying a macbook. It would be my first time with a Mac, hence wanted to get your opinions. I have almost all other devices in the apple ecosystem though, so it could integrate well.

I saw a promo on a retailer selling M4 air (24/512) for a $100 less than what a M5 air would cost with an education discount. Is the $100 difference worth it to get the previous model?
