Kurt to join me on The Art of Longevity podcast, any questions?

Dear all,

excited that Kurt will be joining me for a chat about his career to date and new album this coming Friday (ep to be released 2 weeks after).

I like to cover non-cliche, deeper or unusual fan topics.

Any questions lmk and I will endeavour to ask within the natural flow (no guarantees) and also happy to give you a mention (again, if it feels right).

Fire away!

New Song “Ryan Adams Unfollowed Me on Instagram” by Jim E. Brown

BV Link

How do we send this to Ryan and also Kurt Vile 😄

Jim E. Brown, Britain’s most tormented 19-year-old obese alcoholic singer-songwriter, released his new album Dirt today. The 15-song collection includes such confessional future classics as “Rock Bottom,” “I Had a Psychotic Episode in a Brighton Travelodge After Meeting Grian from Fontaines D.C.,” “She Said My Face Smelled of Butter,” “Ryan Adams Unfollowed Me on Instagram,” “I Wish I Didn’t Hate Myself,” and sure-to-be holiday hit, “I Received a Blowjob While Watching the Mr. Bean Christmas Special.”

Hi all,

I haven’t kept up with Kurt Vile since Bottle It In came out. Not for any particular reason, life got busy, and I also really dove into the world of older music for the first time which has kept me occupied for a while.

Nevertheless, I have continued to listen to Wakin on a Pretty Day regularly since then. I have listened to this song at least 1,000 times. Actually it’s probably more. I don’t know what it is, but it feels like for nine and a half minutes Kurt is able to perfectly capture an emotion that I don’t have a name for. I really wish I could put it into words, but nothing I’m writing is coming close, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide what I mean.

One of my greatest joyous memories in life was seeing him perform this song live in 2017. It felt like it went on for 20 minutes. And watching him play was hypnotizing. It makes it hard to see other performers at concerts, because at least when I saw him I felt immediately that he was being authentic with his music and especially with this song. He could have kept it going on forever, and I would have kept listening. He must have been feeling something very clearly and powerfully, because he was still able to translate that into music when I saw him.

I’m curious what it has been like for you to see this song live, especially if you’ve seen him more recently than I did. I know I need to listen to his new music, but I would be happy if this were the only song I had access to for the rest of my life.

Finally got Kurt and Courtney on my Sea Lice poster

The poster came from their Dallas stop of the Lotta Sea Lice tour in 2017. Got Kurt to sign it on his 2024 tour, and Courtney to sign it last weekend!

EP disappeared from KV and Luke Robert’s streaming catalogues. Also Luke removed another recent single and deleted his social media accounts

Kurt’s new albums always foster a huge sense of anticipation for me. After the brilliant Chance to Bleed dropped, I was off and running again. Then backing it up with the beauty of Zoom 97, sounds like we are in for a treat. Never good to wish your life away, but I can’t wait to see what else he has in store.

I appreciate this jam to the utmost degree. Not as big of a presence as Chance to Bleed but still a very chill album opener.

As a side note, does anyone else wish that at the end of Tom Perry’s Gone, Kurt had threw in a long jingly jangly solo for at least half of that time it drones away in the actual song? It’s like 2–3 minutes of it, and while I do appreciate some droning, that song has a big presence and is filled with little spurts of the jingly guitar
