I understand fans who think the sexualization is too much

I’m an ‘06 liner just like Megan, so when it came to conversations about them being exploited during bc era, I never formed an opinion cause I knew there would be nuances I couldn’t get. I was the same age as the NJ girls when they debuted and didn’t see a problem with 14 yo debuting, which has obviously changed. Living on a college campus factored in too because how they presented themselves wasn’t really different from other college age kid.

But with this current era it feels like they completely ripped away any plausible deniability of their team specially trying to market a mature image to children. It’s gross how they’re muddying their target audiences. One second they’re shaking ass in the parking lot the next they’re singing Golden with a fictional kids band. Nothing about pinky up requires childhood motifs like the stuffed animals or the kid bed in Lara’s scene (while they’re simultaneously licking swords). I feel like for it to serve an artistic purpose the music would have to have artistic value in the first place.

Edit: feel like people are focusing on the dance moves specifically and not the overall aesthetic picture. It’s not just twerking once or twice it’s everything that comes with it. I feel like the Epstein files are making people more vigilant to when younger themes are incorporated by artists into their art, and it really has to be done in specific thoughtful ways (which this is not).

something is really wrong

like ok fork found in kitchen this is evidently a weird situation. i feel like with a scenario like this it should be obvious about what’s happening, even if it’s not stated, but it couldn’t be further from clear.

if this was PR, then i feel like it should’ve been over as soon pinky up came out. i didn’t expect her to be in the teasers (why is why i initially thought it was PR) but i definitely didn't expect her to be wiped from the song AND music video.

two theories come from that. 1) either she never shot the MV to begin with, or 2) HxG spent a fortune redoing the MV without Manon.

It’s likely to be the second, because Manon removed KATSEYE from her bio very soon after the first teaser was leaked, potentially as a reaction to being cut out, which would mean that she was initially in the MV. If that’s true, why would HxG spend that much money just to reshoot everything, if it’s just a hiatus?

On the other hand, the removal of Katseye from her bio could be her way of not involving herself in this era, and she was never in the MV to begin with. reasons unclear…

the lack of mentioning of manon is eerie too. i wouldn’t be surprised if that’s HxGs doing. it just feels SO spiteful though. if it’s just a hiatus, why can’t their members shout her out during a performance she is absent from? the zane interview was cryptic too. the reinforcing of sisterhood, saying she’s doing well, that they love her and she’s on hiatus..it’s all so VAGUE.

what really gets me the most though, is how manon was at Coachella, just not performing. she was THERE. she could’ve easily seen their performance in the crowd. it just feels unheard of. this was a milestone that she should’ve been a part of, especially since she was the most excited for it.

so many more things have been missed out here, like the ‘positive conversations’ message, the contradiction of HxGs and Manons statements. it’s so sad being left in uncertainty this way.

its like either manon did something, or HxG are evil. there is no in between in what i’m seeing from people and i don’t see one myself either.

i know i need to accept that she’s gone but i can’t and im being delusional until i get the HxG statement.

anyways i hope she and the girls are okay. she’s missed. and she genuinely looks younger in this picture. HxG when i catch you omg

Looking back at this live, with the current situation…

At first Manon and Lara were talking about how management probably is gonna ring them for the stuff they were saying. Next minute you know Lara says “bitches are racist” manon got scared she’s talking about management look how she gets scared. This could be a reach but idk their body language doesn’t seem comfortable after Lara made that comment.

Looking at these two teasers side by side makes you think about A LOT like it is crazy how much can change in just two years. I mean the direction of the group everything from the styling, makeup, music, it's all so different now.

I'm aware this happens to a lot of groups not just katseye who are still finding their sound in the beginning and it's also common with some big pop artists as well. it's just crazy to look back and be like "woah, a lot has changed". Sorry about the repost it was glitching for some reason.

Katseye Coachella outfits ate tf down

It fit their concept and I feel like every member looked good in their outfit. Nobody’s outfit was better than anybody’s outfit and this is the best style they’ve had in a while💓

Reminder: The girls probably don’t have as much control as people think

With all the posts and discussions lately (especially about Manon), I feel like a lot of people here are forgetting that the girls most likely signed extremely strict contracts.

Everything they do, say, or post is monitored and controlled by their management. Honestly, it wouldn’t even surprise me if every single post, like or comment has to be approved by someone before it goes public.

Many discussions here are framed as if the girls actually have a choice or full control over their actions. But realistically, the management should be the first ones held responsible for most of these things. And yes, people do criticize the management as well, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes I read comments like “maybe Manon just wants to do her own thing and doesn’t want to be part of Katseye anymore.”

And every time I think: do you really believe she has that kind of choice? Do you think she could simply leave the group just because she wants to?

A lot of the small “controversies” that pop up (like Manon removing “Katseye” from her bio, or the whole following/unfollowing situation on Instagram) are either intentionally managed by the company, or if the girls actually do something on social media that management considers “not allowed” there will almost certainly be consequences. These companies know how to go viral. Even if it’s bad publicity, it’s still publicity for them!

We already saw during Dream Academy how strict some of the rules can be and that there are real consequences for breaking them. And that’s probably only a really tiny fraction of what they chose to show publicly.

These kinds of contracts are no joke. In many ways, you’re basically signing away a huge amount of personal control to the company. People have discussed and exposed how extreme these contracts can be many times before (just think about NewJeans).

And this perspective can be applied to a lot of other discussions too. For example, the criticism about them not mentioning Manon during the Coachella performance, or how Lara and Megan ended the M.I.A performance.

What I WISH was done…

that each girl got their own “Gabriela” and each having their own bridge that’s in their native language.

now that would have been so cool to see and hear.

Swiss, Korean, Filipino, Tamil and Chinese (Megan is super mixed based on her parents so she has like hella languages she could have picked based on her ancestry).

Like the vibes would have been immaculate for each girl and their cultures especially when Daniela bodied Gabriela and the MV was everything.

A girl can dream lmao.

remember this?

i haven’t posted in this sub before and I’m really trying to just not think about any of this till we get a statement but honestly my mind keeps going back to this.

company-produced materials implying manon is lazy and selfish was actually insane. I know it was talked about at the time, but looking back now really H+G should have addressed this. regardless of anything manon did or didn’t do (which we have no idea about), this is beyond unprofessional, singled her out, and seemed like a deliberate attempt to attract hate towards her.

like i wanna hold this up in front of their management’s face and go ‘so? why did you think this was ok to publish?’

for me, this alone means that some of the mistreatment narrative is true. this was disgraceful and they shouldn’t have gotten away with it but i guess it was Christmas and everyone was focused on other things. if it was me this alone would piss me off so much i would try to quit ahaha.

this is from the season’s greetings btw.

sophia's stans

love sophia down and she's clearly not responsible for this but can we please talk about sophia's stans for a moment?
i've seen some of the most vile and disgusting crap coming from that group, like they don't even care. they throw around the n-word, terms like "monkey", "gorilla", posting pictures of george floyd as "comebacks" etc with no shame.
i think manon solo stans who say disgusting things about the other 5 girls rightfully deserve to be called out but i only ever see them getting called out and getting flamed, when there's obviously a BIG elephant in the room that also needs to be addressed.

what do you guys think?

Was Listing all Their Names Individually Really Necessary 😭

I’m sorry but this is getting immature. Instead of sticking to the mistreatment and showing Manon support they’re out here being childish and petty. I’m OT6, but people aren’t wrong when they say it’s MANON News right now instead of KATSEYE News. Also I noticed that they didn’t mention the group chat that came out today of Manon stans bullying and insulting the girls. This account was just fine with sharing all the teasers, but as soon as they found out Manon wasn’t gonna be at Coachella they decided to boycott Katschella and only post about Manon being at Sabrina’s set.

Honestly over everyone and all of this

This is my first and probably last ever post in this sub. However, I need to get something off my chest that has been on my mind for weeks now. We don’t know really anything about this hiatus, who is majority at fault, how long it will be, or if Manon will ever come back. Two things I know for sure 1. Geffen specifically has been accused of mistreatment before with Black women in groups in the past, 2. companies know that a lot of yall will in fact not really give a shit.

As a Black man it is sooooo frustrating to see casual anti blackness. Whether it’s being called lazy (despite us seeing proof of her working her ass off especially since joining and going from really no prior experience besides writing to be a pretty good singer and dancer in a relatively short period of time), and all this speculation and now blaming her for this hiatus and defending the billion dollar company who clearly doesn’t give a shit about any of the girls and just wants money. If it were any of your faves, you would be crying screaming and throwing up. But because it’s the black girl, it’s well “she wasn’t really THAT important” “she isn’t THAT talented” “see the people at Coachella didn’t care” “it was probably something she did” and these companies know yall will do this because they know yall do not care about Black people, especially women.

Are the solo stans for Manon insane? Yes, they are like I think any solo stan is insane for a girl group just have a bias like a normal person. But we can’t ignore that part of the reason why the Manon ones exist is because of how she has been treated in the group. However, bashing the other members is not helpful

Also, yall are so selfish and don’t stand for anything to realize that a boycott isn’t to hurt the girls, it’s to send a message to HxG that this is not ok to treat one of the members of the group like this. But instead yall showed them what they already knew, yall do not give a single fuck about Black people, period. I hope everyone is proud of themselves for that fact I really truly do. I’m honestly disappointed and disgusted in just a lot of what’s been happening over the past few weeks not just in here but all over the internet. With this lack of transparency and Geffen’s history, this absolutely has a chance of happening again if she truly is out of the group. It should truly be 6 or nothing besides when injury or personal time off, etc.

Last point, if someone told me that this group was a social experiment to see if POC solidarity is possible I’d believe it. The anti blackness, anti Asian sentiments, the anti Indian sentiments, from all different sides has just been sickening honestly. Everyone, including a lot of Black folks got a ways to go.

PS: You being black, fully or mixed being ok with how this treatment of Manon is just a sign that you need to talk to someone about not liking the skin you are in and you need to unpack that.

Im in my late 20s & Im a fan, I didnt understand the discourse about them not speaking online about Manon hiatus until Coachella

I thought maybe they didn’t want people speaking on her on socials because ppl twist words up bad, so I got that they didn’t tweet or write a big announcement. People never think that those online statements are genuine so I get that!!! BUT

It was no mention of her at all. Like they are a group of 5. lol

No wonder you guys are going feral. I thought she would atleast get a shoutout to reassure the fans.

However the performance was amazing. I don’t understand why ppl are saying Daniela messed up? Maybe she just has a deep singing voice? She sounded okay to me.
