Job offer and potential move from Spain to Copenhaguen.

Hi everyone,

I’m a 41-year-old French guy currently living in Valencia, Spain, and I may soon be relocating to Copenhagen for a new chapter in my life.

The salary would probably be around 20k DKK net monthly at the beginning, (I can make a bit more with bonuses, it's a customer service position) so not huge for Copenhagen from what I understand, but there seems to be growth potential over time... and I want to take the risk since I don't really have good options in Spain.

I’d honestly appreciate any realistic advice:
housing, budgeting, areas to live since I'm gonna work in Østerbro, daily life, things you wish you knew before moving to Denmark, etc.

Thanks a lot!

Australian family looking to move to Denmark.

Hi everyone,

I’m an Australian currently looking into the possibility of relocating my family to Denmark in the next few years and hoping to get some honest advice from people already living and working there.

We’re a family of 4 with 2 young kids, so lifestyle is a pretty big factor for us. We’re trying to find somewhere with a good mix of

  • coastal
  • family friendly
  • good schools/community
  • reasonable work opportunities

We have done some research but definitely open to suggestions. A few things I’d love some insight on:

  • How realistic is it to find English-speaking roles in these industries? My wife and I would learn Danish in preparation though.
  • Are there particular companies/recruiters that are good for internationals?
  • How hard is it getting established without fluent Danish initially? More specifically for my kids who are still young.

If it assist, I currently work as a Project Manager and would likely be looking for roles in Joinery / Fitout / Ceilings & Partitions / Shopfitting. My wife is a high school teacher.

Thanks heaps

Hey everyone I wanted to ask a question about SU loan. Can I take SU loan while Im receiving SU ,working monthly more than 70 hours and send it to parents that are in another country ? Also signing up "contract" about lending money between me and my parent, like private loan . So lets say after 10 years she will send me the money back also with contract of proof with the private loan document. Is this possible for me? The reason will be to repay them money they've spent on me while being unemployed in Denmark.

Im EU citizen and my Whole family are EU citizens. The main goal is to invest my money with Aktiespareskonto with 17% after tax. I can invest SU loan which is ~4000DKK or I can invest this from my own earned money. Either way I will still need the SU Loan which will cover my studies or investing. And the thing is that I still want to repay to my parents alongside. So no, there is no Misuse or any kind of taking money out of Denmark. Me being EU citizen would even cause more problems doing something shady. The goal is to send 4000 each month to my parents, invest 4000Dkk each month and cover my studies.

🌐 Web: https://airvoy.app/
🤖 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airvoy.airvoy
🍎 iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/airvoy-esim/id6751522296

Airvoy

Airvoy

Danish holiday rules are genuinely confusing. The accrual year runs September to August, you earn days at a weird rate, and I could never tell how many days I had left, how many I'd used, or how many I still needed to plan.

So I built a little tracker: https://pr3mar.github.io/dhp/

It does the math for you and gives you a clear overview of your balance. You can log holidays and remote work days, and it handles the accrual calendar automatically. No login, runs in the browser, your data stays yours.

If anyone actually understands how Danish holiday law works and spots something off – please let me know lol. Would love feedback!

I am an EU citizen and I arrived in Denmark 15 days ago. I did not report myself anywhere, guessing I don't need to as I am from the EU. My primary objective now is to get a CPR number, but from what I understood, I first need to go to SIRI and get an "EU residence document" and then go to Borgerdervice with the residency document, a valid address, and my passport. I already have a valid address.

I called International House, and they told me to call SIRI. I did, but nobody answered, and it is pointless to arrange a meeting for just a few questions.

I was looking at the OD1/A document and I saw that there are multiple ways to actually get the document, one of them being "Person with sufficient funds" and "Worker" being the least demanding with the documentation.

As a person with sufficient funds, how much money do I need to have? And wouldn't it be strange to see that I receive, for example, €7,000 just before applying for the residency document? I mean, do they even look at those things, or do they just want to know if I have the money to stay here?

As a worker, I tried applying for Wolt to get the contract, but it requires me to have a CPR number regardless of where I am from. A friend told me that I need to earn at least 400,000 DKK a month if I want to apply for "worker." And even if I do get the contract from the employer, do I need to work for some time before applying, or can I just do it the day after I get it?

If I am wrong about something, correct me. I am new, and any help or advice is welcome.

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a pre-final year Engineering student in India with a decent GPA (expecting 3.5+). Given the global situation, I'm seriously considering Denmark for my Master's, likely in Math or CS.

I'd love some insights on the following:

  1. Job Market: How's the tech job market looking in Denmark right now? Is it easy to land a role as a non-EU grad?
  2. Salaries: With the surge of startups in Copenhagen, what kind of median salary can a fresh Master's grad expect in tech?
  3. Quant/HFT: I'm interested in branching into Quant/HFT later. Is Denmark a viable launchpad for that, or is the ecosystem too small compared to London/US?
  4. Universities & Funding: Which universities should I aim for if I'm also looking for financial aid/scholarships? (Specifically for non-EU students).
  5. Tuition Reality: For non-EU students, the tuition fees are steep. Are there enough scholarships to make this financially viable, or is it mostly self-funded?
  6. The "Search" Period: How realistic is the 6-month job search visa extension? Do most students actually find work within that window, or is it a gamble?
  7. Housing Crisis: I've heard Copenhagen has a severe housing shortage. How hard is it to find affordable student accommodation, and should I budget extra for this?

Any advice, war stories, or resources would be super helpful! Thanks in advance.
