Accidentally found the perfect bee hotel. IVAR side units! 🐝

Wanted to share this little discovery. We used some old IVAR parts on our balcony, and the local wild bees absolutely love it. The holes are a perfect fit for them to move in. Such an easy way to make your balcony more bee-friendly! 🌻

Foto benvenute 📸

Ikea Kallax update

Gave my Ikes Kallax a full makeover. First I raised it up with a wooden base to get some extra height. Then painted the whole thing black. After that I made wooden doors and covered them with 3mm mirrored plexiglass. It took some time, but I'm really happy with the result.

Help: IKEA hack using HAVSTA cabinets

I’m attempting an IKEA hack using HAVSTA cabinets to create a built-in look. I’ve already purchased and assembled four cabinets.

I have a few questions:

  1. Should I buy a fifth cabinet to fill the empty sides, or would that end up looking too long or visually busy?
  2. If I don’t add another cabinet, what’s the best way to fill the gaps and still achieve a built-in look?
  3. Would adding floating shelves and/or bookcases help create that built-in effect?

Current set up is the photo on the left. I’m going for the look in the inspiration photo on the right. I’m pretty new to this, so I’d really appreciate any advice!

Sink into corner SEKTION cabinet?

https://preview.redd.it/l7z889xbwetg1.jpg?width=1650&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=205ebf27f86f718145d352aa2a686793334abb0f

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to install a sink into an IKEA corner cabinet, but I’ve run into a pretty frustrating issue and I’m not sure if there’s a clean solution.

Basically, I need to invert the orientation of the cabinet so that the crossbar isn’t blocking where the sink needs to go. The problem is that this cabinet mounts in two parts, and flipping it would mean all the pre-drilled holes end up visible in the final installation—which obviously isn’t ideal.

I thought about just mounting the corner extension piece on the opposite side, but then I’d still have the issue with exposed holes from the original configuration.

So I’m kind of stuck between:

  • Not being able to reposition the crossbar properly
  • Or ending up with visible pre-drilled holes

Does anyone know if IKEA offers a way to order these cabinets in a mirrored/inverted configuration? Or has anyone successfully modified one of these without it looking hacked together?

Unfortunately, I can’t switch to a different corner cabinet style due to space constraints—this is literally the only one that fits my layout.

Any ideas, hacks, or experiences would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Kallax

So I have two large kallax and two new puppies that I am working with training not to chew. (Mind you these are kallax used for board games) I’ve spent a week or more looking for cheap ways to cover the cubes or something to cover multiple cubes at once.

Everything is just outside of my price range. If I could I would build acrylics doors so the games could still be displayed. But now I just don’t care as long as the games are protected.

Any suggestions? Hinges and standup mirrors? Or cheap hinged 13x13 picture frames?
