Proposed AI data center in Pocatello

These data centers do a lot of damage in the communities where they're built and raise the prices of utilities. You think your bills are high now? Just wait. Spread the word. Tell people. There's a meeting on the 14th. Get out there and tell them that you don't want yet another outside interest snatching up Pocatello land and hurting our community just to funnel dollars out of state. This probably would have been fast tracked under Blad, who knows if who's in charge is going to do any better at resisting the palm greasing. Truly egregious. Tell people, and tell those people to tell people!

Hey all, looking for some advice. I am beginning to contemplate moving to Ammon/Idaho Falls. I have two kids ages 10 and 6. We love the outdoors, camping, and snow skiing/winter. We currently live in the Midwest but have little ties to where we live. I can work anywhere in the U.S. We are looking in the area because it is close to Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole, has outdoor activities, and is close to shopping/supplies. We are not LDS, and to be completely honest, I would say I don't have a great impression of the church/lifestyle. We don't eat out a ton (my son has a medical condition), and we have never visited Idaho (but have spent a lot of time at JH). Obviously we would visit and spend some time there before deciding to move. We need to be near an airport because I have some work travel, but not a ton. I have seen the posts saying there is nothing to do in town, but we have lived in an Urban area and aren't really looking for concerts, etc. I grew up on a farm and we are looking for some space and to be able to go off-roading/camping. My kids do really well academically. What are the schools like? What are the pros/cons of the area? Why should or shouldn't we move there?

Welding jobs?

Looking for a welding job in the area. I have over 5 years experience doing different things in different states/companies ie, structural, pipe, railings, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, arc gouging, and blueprint reading. Looking for something over $25/hr and i won't be in the area until late summer early fall. I want a job that cares about my safety, seeing someone get crush at a previous job makes you open your eyes to dangers more.

Is there still a dentist in the Grand Teton Mall?

That's the only place I ever saw TVs in the ceiling.

I also thought having a dentist in a mall was very interesting. I'm wondering is it still there?

Internet Recommendations

My fiancé and I are moving to the Idaho Falls/Ammon/Iona area. What recommendations do you have for internet? It’ll just be her and I. I’ve heard Sparklight, CenturyLink, Starlink, and Fybercom are all decent. Which is best?

This is more of a technical question. I switched to fybercom through Idaho Falls fiber several months ago when CenturyLink kept jacking up prices despite a "lifetime price guarantee". I've mostly been happy with it except one fairly annoying feature we have been used to using; the ability to self-host game servers and use ddns to allow others to connect to our games. Much to my frustration, we discovered fybercom uses cgnat. To get around this we either have to use a cloudflare tunnel, use a vpn, or request a static IP. I don't remember the cost on a static IP but I'm not keen on paying extra just to be able to self host.

I dug into cloudflare which isn't a bad option but the free plan doesn't support udp forwarding which is needed for some games. I could request a static IP but that's an extra cost. I can't remember how much. We aren't always hosting so paying the extra cost when we might not use it that month didn't seem like a great idea. Vpn tunnel isn't the best since people on the other side need to install software to connect. I do have tail scale on my server already so it is an option, but was mostly for personal use.

So, as the title says, which of the providers on Idaho Falls site don't use cgnat? We picked fybercom due to cost. I guess we get what we pay for but between their fee and the $25/month to Idaho Falls, it was the same $65ish we paid to CenturyLink (before they jacked it to $85) for the same 1gb speed. Anyone with any of these providers that can say?

On a secondary question, I have been considering buying a ubiquity router with a fiber connection built in. I wanted to make sure there wasn't anything special about the device they put in our house that translates it to Ethernet. Supposedly it's just acting as an ont but we had a fiber to Ethernet converter before that was tiny and they installed a full on router to do the same job. Seems overkill.

Burner account but basically what the title says…What can you tell me about working at these two facilities? Is one better than the other? Things you should know? Would love to know pros and cons of each one.

Hey there! I'm 23 (F) and struggling with my hormones pretty badly. I have PCOS and was seeing what I thought was a very high end hormone doctor via telehealth, but after 3 months of what now feels like experimental meds and dosing I saw no results and she dropped me as a patient because of that🙃 I'm feeling so lost and confused, I have no idea where to start because I REFUSE to just slap the birth control bandaid on and I know that's what 90% of doctors do. I want to have kids someday and I need to understand my body before it's too late.

I had a horrible reaction to progestins (at least that's what she thought was happening) and ever since then I've been having serious issues with major adrenaline rushes and crashes that are coming out of nowhere and completely wiping me out. I went from an employee that calls out 3 times a year to one that calls out 3 times a week. My insulin was double the normal level and DHEA was the highest she had ever seen in someone my age and my CRP is also through the roof... All the classics mixed with a very, VERY spicy nervous system.

Any help is appreciated, I'm so tired of this🤪 honestly ladies chiming in stories or venting or any advice ECT is welcome too!

Been thinking about going back to therapy, does anyone have any suggestions? I have Blue Cross Regence Insurance and i am not religious, i prefer a counselor that can separate their work and their religion. Thank you in advance! (And if you recommend someone/a center, please elaborate on why, thank you!)

Hi everyone, I’m currently looking for work in the Idaho Falls area and wanted to reach out here in case anyone knows of openings or hiring opportunities.

I have about 10 years of experience in customer service, including roles in assisted living, direct care, administrative/front desk work, and some restaurant experience. I’m comfortable with multi-line phones, scheduling, handling high-volume environments, and providing strong customer/patient support.

I’m open to roles such as front desk/reception, medical office positions, customer service, or serving. I’m a quick learner, reliable, and ready to start as soon as possible.

If anyone knows of opportunities or is hiring, I would really appreciate any leads. Thank you!

I am visiting from out of town for our grandfather’s funeral. It’s on Saturday. Does anyone know anyone who plays bagpipes that we could have come play for his funeral? We would be happy to pay for their time!

Hey folks, I'm new to the area. I got my first 4x4 about a year ago and I've been fixing it up. It's finally on the road and I'd like to do some light offroading. Nothing crazy, but maybe somewhere a honda civic couldn't go. Any recommendations for scenic routes near town to get me started? Thanks!
