iCloud storage
Hello guys. I have around 200 gb of iCloud storage. And yet around 60 GB is being stored locally and consuming my iPhone storage to the max. What is the solution of making some space in my phone?

Hi! I've been using iCloud+ for I don't even know how long and I've never had the issue I've been having for the better part of a month now.
At my root folder (Finder > iCloud), I have folders that keep appearing. If I delete some, others arrive. They're either empty or not, but they seem to be folders that were actually created either by me or from a download or an App somewhere else on my iCloud.
In root, if one's empty, the original one (where it's actually supposed to be) contains files. If one has files on it, then the original one doesn't. Sometime the root one has part of the orignal files, and the real folder has the rest.
Sometimes it's fonts, some other are about pictures (folders I've created after scanning film like "Leica M6 - Fomapan - 2023"). Sometimes it's folders like "png" that I don't even know where they were copied or cut from, certainly from app folder but I have now way of knowing which one. I, for example, also have one that only contains the artwork for some sound design elements I've bought. The rest of what I bought is where it's supposed to be (minus the artwork).
Has anything like this happened to you? I've done some research but as you can see it's tough explaining this in a Google search. Claude couldn't help either, appart from having me check if I have recent Apps that have had access to my iCloud, but I only have the main Apple ones.
Here is a screenshot of part of the root folder.
Any help is welcomed.
I use iCloud+ on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Windows. I know Windows can be laggy but I spent a year without any trouble after buying a PC. Also, I use Docs & Desktop in iCloud.
Thank you!
For the longest time I have tried to put all my iPhone photos onto my computer, but there’s always been error after error and it’s been driving me crazy.
Long story short I needed all my original photos and videos on my local iPhone storage, and in the process I turned off syncing to try and force the photos and videos to download locally.
Over a thousand photos and videos scattered throughout my camera roll got removed from my local gallery instead.
I do still have them on iCloud website, but I REALLY want them back on my phone gallery in their original places. iCloud won’t let me turning syncing back on because I “don’t have enough iCloud storage” and the other methods (downloading the photos from the iCloud website and saving them to my gallery through the files app) haven’t put the photos back in their original spots.
If anyone knows how or if I could possibly get them back on my phone in their original spots and dates and folders please send help. I am so sad and frustrated about everything. I literally just want my photos onto my computer and I spent hours trying to do this just to make everything worse.
Hi all! Yesterday I purchased myself a new iPhone 17 and traded in my old iPhone 13. As I've been setting up my new phone I've come into an issue. The restoration is paused and won't continue which means I can't actually access anything on my phone. I have tried to trouble shoot myself but I'm a bit stuck. I have reset my phone multiple times, deleted and uninstalled any VPNs, I've reset the network settings, and I am now trying a different wifi network and still nothing is working.
Before the trade in I made sure to back up my phone multiple times before wiping it and bringing it into the apple store so I know that isn't the issue. At first I thought maybe it was my wifi so I've tried again while at work and still nothing. The weirdest part is all my pictures and messages/contacts have synced just nothing else.
I plan on heading into apple this afternoon if I can't manage to figure it out but I though it might be best if I also check with people on here.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
(I also posted this on r/applehelp with screenshots if that helps with more information)
I lost my phone in Colombia a few days ago. Someone found my phone and unlocked it. They used my WhatsApp to contact my friend and ask for money. We were willing to pay but he asked for money up front and it was obvious that the person had no intention of returning it. After we weren’t able to settle down with the agreement, things escalated and the snooped through my phone to find my pictures and videos to threaten me.
I had done almost everything I could as soon as I could. I changed my password on everything I could think of. I also suspended my SIM card and reported it as stolen.
The only thing giving me an extremely hard time was iCloud. The thief turned off my device on Find My almost immediately.
Day 1:
I tried to change my iCloud password on my laptop but since I didn’t have my phone with me to verify, Apple put me in the recovery mode for 24 hrs.
Day 2:
While I was waiting, the thief beat me to it and changed the email and the password (Which I didn’t understand how bc u suspended my phone number already)
I called apple immediately when I saw the update and Apple support told me bc I couldn’t verify with my phone number, I had to wait till I get a new replacement phone to continue.
I told them I was worried that the high would beat me to it again, and they told me I could go file a police report in US and report it as a stolen phone.
Day 3:
So I waited again and used my new phone to verify my account the next day, apple support told me there’s nothing I can do bc the primary email is theirs not mine anymore. I told them I had a police report filed both in Colombia and US, and had all the document to proof that it was my phone but they just kept saying there’s nothing they could do.
I was somehow able to do the recovery process again but it’s taking 6 whole days this time. So I am just waiting for 6 whole days thinking about how the other person is snooping through my phone and looking for more info to threaten me and ruin my life in the future.
I’m extremely annoyed and frustrated with Apple. I don’t understand why it is so incredibly difficult to protect myself from my stolen device. I had everything to proof that it was a stolen phone and was told over and over again to just wait and each day was just getting worse. I had 0 issues changing my passwords on anything else. Some websites asked me to verify with passports and selfies and ICloud was the only one that fucked me up so bad.
If there’s anything I can do during this time, please help because I don’t think I can actually get my iCloud back even after this 6days.
I just got a new phone (iPhone 17) last week— old one (iPhone SE) completely broke so I had to download everything from my iCloud.
When I looked at my photos app I had like 5000 photos more than I did before. I looked through and there were photos that I deleted off my phone years ago that have apparently been synced to my iCloud this whole time???
I keep looking for answers but everywhere just says it should happen automatically or you have to wait a few days or whatever, which is obviously not true at least in my case since these photos were deleted years ago! I also immediately started going through and deleting photos off this phone, started a few days ago and they’re still all synced to my iCloud!
Please help I don’t understand why the photos never deleted and still won’t delete 😭
It only happens on some emails and it's only on my Mac, not my iPhone, even if it's the same email. It's using an iCloud address.
For example, normally it would be
To: John Doe
But for some of them it's
To: John Doe,
for no apparent reason, and if it has a comma on Mac it doesn't on iPhone.
