Fogo De Chao - Malagueta - OBITUARY REVIEW

Here lies Fogo De Chao Malagueta -

8.3/10

I don’t remember where I first met this sauce. Apparently, you can get it at the restaurants themselves, or Instacart! I wrote down that I got this sauce for only $1.99, which is an AMAZING price for this. I’ve never been before, but the menu looks solid, albeit a little expensive. If you’re unfamiliar, Fogo De Chao is a Brazilian steakhouse, known for carving the fire-cooked meats right there at the table for the customers. According to the interwebs, you can buy all-you-can-eat meat and salad bar. The fried plantains look delicious (chime in the comments)! Saúde, lets get into the review!

REVIEW: This sauce is really simple, and thus makes it easily applicable to mostly everything you’d want to put a bright and tangy sauce on. The heat comes punching straight out the gate, not building too much. I had this sauce in January, and I’m still able to recall the taste of this one like I had it this morning. It is quite reminiscent of Tabasco, and I mean that in the best of ways. It’s really vinegar forward and adds a huge pop of flavor since I’d say there are more peppers to vinegar ratio, and is about twice as much heat as that comparison. When I review sauces, I usually only put them on my breakfast burritos, but for this one I decided to try it on a chicken salad, and also got some naked wings and covered them in this. My mouth is LITERALLY watering thinking about that. This sauce is thin, no chunks, no granules. No sweetness at all. The only downside I can imagine people having towards this sauce is either the soybean oil or the xanthan gum, which i think is minimally used in there. I was so pleasantly surprised at this, and I would use this as a staple if it were more easily accessible during my grocery runs. Rest in Peace, Spicy Prince

Feel free to recommend your favorite malagueta based sauce, suggest your favorite dish at Fogo De Chao, or tell us your experience with this sauce!

Ingredients: WHITE WINE VINEGAR, MALAGUETA PEPPERS WATER, SOYBEAN OIL, XANTHAN GUM, SODIUM BENZOATE AND POTASSIUM SORBATE (PRESERVATIVES).

What's this on my Frank's Red Hot?

It's green and is a bit thick. Didn't smell off and I tried using it on a burger, it didn't taste anything off either. Though it does look like mold and it kinda made me lose my appetite upon seeing.

Celebrity (who's not a chef) hot sauces you like?

I know this stuff came out a long time ago. I love The Misfits and Doyle, and finally decided to order a few shirts and a bottle of hot sauce. It's got basil and oregano in it. I like it. I know it's not that hot.

But anyway, my question.. I'm curious if you know of any other non chef celebrities that like hot sauce and have their own brand? Which ones do you like? I'd like to try some more.

Smoked habaneros for this guy

My daughter (11) and I set out on the hot sauce adventures a while back and have recently been making our own. Inspired by a trip to SoCal, we made a habanero hot sauce. It was so good, we figured when the snow melted here in New England that we should smoke the habaneros and see how that goes. We’ll give this a couple days for all the ingredients to introduce themselves to each other. Can’t wait!

Bhut jolokia

Bought this today. Costs about 160 rs (less than 2 dollars) for a 55gm bottle. It is listed as an insanely hot sauce and has 25% bhut jolokia chilli in the ingredients. Idk if my spice tolerance is low but it tastes spicy af even with two tiny drops. Good kick.

The Holy Grail? For me, yes!

Looking for a recommendation/must have(s) from this selection. My wife is in Florida for work and I’m back here in small town Oregon where it’s basically just Tabasco, Cholula, Aardvark, Franks and Yellow Bird. I don’t need something to sear my tastebuds off, but also Mama didn’t raise no b****

Favorite hot sauce for tomato forward dishes.

Whats your go to sauce for tomato forward or tomato sauce dishes?

Looking for something on the hotter side that pairs well with the already acidic tomato. Made some banging Lasagna but just couldn't find the right hot sauce to pair.

What hot sauces, available in NOLA, are your favorites and worth seeking out? 🌶️

Going to New Orleans, Louisiana for a small fun trip and I love getting local hot sauces whenever I visit a city.

What hot sauce, available in New Orleans, is a favorite worth seeking out? Extra points if you can tell me exactly where to get said hot sauce in the Crescent City.

How do I replicate this shawarma hot sauce?

I ordered a chicken and rice platter from a local shawarma spot and their hot sauce that they gave at the side was delicious. It’s a bright orange color and super creamy. It’s quite similar to Dawson’s shawarma sauce but it packs more of a punch which I appreciate

Anyone ever shopped at grillseasoningbox?

Stumbled onto the website grillseasoningbox.com and they have hot sauces at crazy discount. I'm automatically wary, but I figured I'd check to see if anyone else has any experience with this site?

Super Hot Ginger Hot Sauce

I made this incredible hot sauce with fermented ginger, Thai chilis, and Szechuan peppercorns. Not spicy enough for my ridiculous heat tolerance so I added 6 super hots as shown in the 2nd picture. It cost me about $5 per bottle to make this and I made enough for 4 bottles.

I also wanted to give California Blazing Chile Farms a shout out since they haven’t been doing well for a little while. I have been buying peppers from them, to experiment with hot sauce ideas, for over 8 years now. They deserve the love and are amazing people who always give extras in their orders.

PiKetú BoriKua Reaper. NO Vinegar!

I haven’t seen anybody mention this yet, so I thought I’d throw it out there for y’all. I’ve gotten a few bottles of this over the years from an old coworker in Puerto Rico. Made without vinegar, so an option for some of you looking for that.

This stuff is HOT. But it’s a tasty hot. Give it a try if you’re looking for a new sauce that’ll burn your mouth. Especially if you are looking for something without vinegar.
