My 2020 honda insight is a gas guzzler!!!

Ok so I bought my Honda insight Feb 2020 brand new 12 miles on it got 500+ miles per tank and i was all good. Fast forward to today my insight has 144k miles and gets 360 miles per tank and the MPG is getting worse. I've had regular maintenance done on the vehicle and over the years have noticed that my full tank of gas wasnt getting me very far as it used to. I have no clue what's going on and the dealership is no help saying its just wear and tare, but at this rate my old 2014 Kia Soul got better mileage. I hadbthe transmission fluid changed twice, had all the lines flushed, new spark plugs, regular oil changes and 2 new sets of tires. NOTE my mileage was decreasing when I still had the stock Michelin (fuel saver) tires.

Is there anything else I can do to boost my MPG or get more out of a full tank of gas?

I also looked up that my 02 censor and other sensors might need to be cleaned or replaced. Would this be worth looking into? Do mechanics clean censors or just change them?

Final note I commute 60 miles a day for work 30 up 30 down and if my gauge reads 100 miles left till empty when I driving home by the time drive the 30 miles it reads 47 miles left I know somethings wrong and need help please.

Just picked this up! Time to get it ready to daily. Advice appreciated

2002 Honda Insight. 241,000 miles. Payed $1100.

I have had many hondas and toyotas and know my way around working on a car. But this is my first hybrid and id like to fix it up the right way.

Brakes are pretty shot but the guy had the trunk FULL of new parts, nearly an entire new brake system so thats really convenient.

Two issues besides that is the IMA light is on and the hybrid battery light is depleted. The rear has a power-supply and a cable, i have limited research on this but i assume if i plug it in itll recharge it?

The second issue is that it does drive on the gas engine alone but at about 4k rpm it looses power and the rpms start pulsing, similar to how some hondas act in limp mode. Not sure if this car has that feature.

Check engine light and battery light are on so ill have to diagnose that too. I have my work cut out for me but i think its definitely saveable.

2019 insight maintenance

Hi, I want to do the maintenance service for my honda insight 2019 by myself, what do you usually do ? Only change oil filter and oil ? It's about 43,000 miles do you find the oil filter in places like autozone ?

Fuel efficiency treatment -- Have you done it, and what did you use?

I saw a post about Lucas fuel efficiency treatment, and thought I would do some research. Some are saying B3, some are saying Lucas.

Has anyone tried a FET on a Honda Insight, and what were your results?
I drive a gen 3 2022, so I'm not complaining, just trying to maximize as gas prices go up every week. *sob*
I would only do this once or twice a year, Btw.

New Technology Connections video on hybrid vehicles

Great video from Technology Connections explaining why hybrid vehicles are so much more efficient than conventional gasoline vehicles. I knew some of this, but there were definitely some aspects that I did not fully appreciate, like how important the Atkinson cycle engine is to achieving that efficiency.

If you have a model 2010-2014 calling for a 151r battery, just don’t, remove the tray and get a 51r

Only reason I’m posting this (probably common knowledge) is that it took me forever to find a post about it. The 151r battery Is hyper overpriced. Just get the 51r size battery and remove the tray, it’ll save ya money. (Remove if needed)

I LOVE HER (my Insight, of course)

Got my license just 2 weeks ago and picked up a Honda Insight 2011 off FBM for $4k, and I’m loving it.

She has 209,6xx miles now, bought her at 208,7xx? I’m usually getting 38 mpg but I started driving economically, essentially trying to keep the Econ led lit up as green. I started getting 40-45mpg doing so, but then I decided why not hypermile her.

I would accelerate to 60-65mph on the freeway then keep my accelerator steady, unless I slowed down too much and then I would apply more throttle obviously. In the city, I would try to time the traffic lights and took my foot off the throttle often and I found myself to never have to come to a complete stop, and I managed to get 60mpg on my 30 mile drive back home!

I’m in San Francisco, and I drove from Half Moon Bay. I think 60mpg is absolutely spectacular for that kind of drive. I hope I can keep her for a long time 🥺🥺

Paint chipping near rear windshield

Has anyone experienced paint chipping up near the rear glass? If so, what did you do to remedy and/or repair?

Not sure when this occurred, just noticed it. Car is stored outdoors in mid Atlantic US. This was not the result of scraping an object in that crevice.

It actually made it, so I suppose it deserves those control arms with ball joints and a CVT fluid change now.

I’m soliciting advice regarding a 2010 Honda Insight I’m considering purchasing. It has 185K miles and is relatively clean. The seller is asking for $4600. Edmunds says this is worth about $2K; CR in range of $3K-$5K.

I did a test drive and was pleased with it. It’s fun! However, the front end suspension makes quite a bit of noise on this particular car when going over bumps. It’s otherwise quiet.

I arranged a PPI at a Honda dealership. They said it needs minor maintenance - fluid changes and new filters - and two things that were missed at 100K miles: sparkplug replacement and valve adjustment. They also noticed a minor leak around the valve gasket, but it didn’t look serious. Finally, they noted the front suspension noise but couldn’t find anything visually wrong with it. Total repair cost is $2K, the 100K mile service items being half that cost.

The owner acknowledged the issues but said his price is firm. Personally, I enjoyed driving the car but think the asking price is high considering the PPI outcome.

I’ve read in multiple forums that this is a relatively reliable car, so I‘m wondering if any of these issues should be considered dealbreakers?

Picked this old girl up (2010) this week bc of gas prices. Has 236k on it. Bought it for $300 as it has been sitting for over a year. Brakes all around are being changed out. Has a small dent in the front which I’ll try to pull out. After some tlc with the paint and all the fluids changed, interior detail, registration and yearly insurance I’ll have sub $2k into this.

Are there any known issues with the second gen? Anything maintenance wise it needs at this mileage? I did spark plugs, transmission and oil change, serpentine belt and radiator flush/ coolant change.
