Are there any proven methods for hair growth?
People often say it's largely down to genetics but is there anything to enhance hair growth?
I've heard of rosemary oil, regular trims and heat protectant.
Any suggestions?
Dec 2025- today
Proud moment!!!! My hair has never been this long lol I started taking Mary Ruth's hair vitamin so I'm 90% sure this is why my hair started growing this much but I also started using a shower filter and moved across the country so could be that too bc of the humidity?? Not sure but very happy because it has never been this length, or this wavy!!!
My goal is to grow my hair back down to my hips after I had a really bad haircut. I was feeling pretty discouraged because it felt like the length hadn’t really changed in 8 months. Took a hair progress photo and although the overall length hasn’t grown much, it makes me so happy to see that the short layers have grown out a lot!
(Second slide is before my bad haircut)
Does anyone know if you can actually grow your hair more or faster? If so please tell me any advice you have, my hair is medium length but I wish it was long again.
Also if it matters, I have 2A wavy hair and use NYM shampoo and conditioner along with their curl talk mousse and hard hold gel.
Edit: I also dye my hair using semi-permanent dye, the current brand in my hair is Good Dye Young
Hi everyone,
I might be completely overthinking this, but I’d really appreciate your opinions. (Swipe for photos)
I’ve been growing my hair out for a while now and it’s gotten pretty long. As you can probably tell from the photos, I have naturally wavy/curly hair.
Overall, my hair still looks quite full. But recently I tried styling it differently, and that’s when I noticed what looked like thinner spots or areas that seemed less dense. It kind of freaked me out a bit.
I’ve been searching online and I’m getting mixed answers—some people say it could be early signs of thinning/balding, while others say it’s just because longer hair gets heavier and separates more easily, especially with wavy or curly textures.
What do you think?
Any advice or similar experiences would really help 🙏
What title says :) haven’t gotten my hair bleached/coloured/done etc. (or done it myself, although I never do) I used to be platinum blonde (used to get roots done every 6-8 weeks like clockwork even though I’m fair enough naturally, not super fair but my roots were never bad) and toned it down last August and have only bleached it twice since, once just my money piece and then baby lights in January (the last time I got it done)! Anyway, Do my roots look like normal growth length for 4 months?
TIA d:
Edit: Clarity
I can’t get hair care right…so went back to silicones and sulphates but need non strengthening products that have least amount of water soluble or evaporating silicones only…surely in this day there is such products
5 month hair growth after bad bleach job took half of it
Went from black dye to platinum and lost 15cm because of that… Definetly never bleaching again lol. My hair is in a lot layers cause the ends keep randomly breaking, which makes it look messy. I feel like my growth is below avarage and I’ve tried everything to make my hair healthier. if you have any tips I’ll gladly take them. But still, I’m glad that my hair still grows.
The topic is tangentially related, so please let me know if it’s not a good fit here.
So I’m coming to a realization that I’ll need to undo the progress of probably past 5 months due to breakage. I’m yet unsure if I really need to cut that much in one go or just chop a couple of centimeters every six week. Growing these was not easy emotionally either - I would check if I have a progress every other day (I count the number of knots in braid to track it more or less accurately), and now I have to go like half of the year back. I wonder how other people cope with having the desired result WAY ahead?
this is only 7 months of growth with some trims in between, is there anything i can do differently to speed up growth process? i have 3c hair and recently quit using heat and have been focusing on retention. using entire redken extreme length product line and doux

Question: do you see the progress and also I had 0% trims. Did it grow nicely? Also I post this from an ALT acc because of privacy and also added blur on my face.
I’m honestly going crazy and I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m a guy in my early 30s and I’ve always had good hair. It’s starting to gray now, but that’s genetic in my family, so I really don’t mind that part.
The real problem is that over the last couple of years my hair has become completely unpredictable. As you can see in the pictures, it’s naturally very thick, but the results are totally random. Sometimes it looks extremely thick, healthy, and full, while other times it becomes frizzy, dry, messy, and almost looks like I’m balding for no reason.
I’ve tried countless shampoos and routines, but nothing gives consistent results. Sometimes I’ll use the exact same shampoo and routine for weeks, yet my hair still behaves differently every single day. There are even days where I only rinse it with water and it looks perfect, while other times I do a full haircare routine and it ends up looking terrible and frizzy.
At the moment I randomly rotate between these hydration products and use them randomly, sometimes right after washing, sometimes days after.
- Syoss Intense Plex Leave-In Serum (100ml)
- Gliss Full Hair Wonder Lengths Filler (100ml)
- alverde NATURKOSMETIK Leave-In Hairmilch (200ml)
For shampoo, lately I’ve mostly been using L’Oréal Elvital Hyaluron Plump because it seems to give the most consistent results so far.
I’ve also experimented with at least a dozen different shampoos overall, and every single one gives different results depending on the day.
Sometimes I let my hair air dry, other times I use a brush and hairdryer, but again, the outcome is always different.
At this point I genuinely don’t know what’s causing it anymore. Any help, advice, or similar experiences would honestly mean a lot. Any suggestion, anything, I beg you
I have god awful super fine hair that I always felt grew super slow (except when I was pregnant) and I’ve been growing it out for years bc I can’t pull off short hair. I’m going to be getting bloodwork done to check for ferritin etc bc I have a TON of regrowth all over from what I think was hair loss from stress.
I last had it trimmed & highlighted mid February and have another appointment in a week for the same.
Would this be considered a normal growth rate for 3 months or slow ?
I’m 19f and I have thin hair that reaches the top of my shoulders, but I’m trying to grow it out. I have oily roots and dry ends.
I’m currently using Cerave oil control shampoo and Doves hydrating conditioner (I wash my hair every other day) and I’m using jojoba oil on my ends daily. I want to trim my ends every other month but my split ends get bad really quickly?? Any tips?? Thank you 🙏
My 10 y/o daughter is going through radiation and chemo. We are extremely concerned about her hair growing back specifically after radiation. Some children’s hair does not grow back as well on the sides and back, due to where they do a higher dosage boost for where her brain tumor was. Some kids hair grows back, some don’t. She has thin (but healthy) hair to begin with and I can’t stop thinking about this.
We are looking at the irestore elite. I also would consider a handheld option to target the specific spots for her hair loss. Here is my question about the irestore:
Will it sufficiently hit the sides and backs?
Is it okay to use for a child size head? Her circumference is about 20”. (Around the hair line)
Anything else you recommend? We will also use rosemary oil when we are able to put things on her scalp.
Radiation damages hair folicles. I don’t know if they can be “saved”. But maybe if they are struggling, therapy can rescue them? This is such a hard thing to go through, among all the other things, for a happy 10 year old whose life has been turned upside down.
Hair growth in 7.5-8 months
Had a bad bleach job and had to cut it all off. This is almost 8 months later. Does this look like a normal amount of growth? I have had a couple little trims.
Mielle hair growth oil
I have 2a wavy, medium length hair and recently bought Mielle’s rosemary growth oil, is this a good product for fast growth?
