Deciding on 2 red dots which is best?

So the two red dots I’m considering are both solar red dots. The price difference is only $40 but I’m not sure which is better based on the moa they offer. The cheaper one offers 2 MOA/40MOA and the other one is 2MOA/70MOA. This is the only two differences in the two red dots the moa and the price. This will be put on a 11.5” 5.56 with a 3x magnifier. I plan to use this for many things such as competitions, range fun, predator hunting, and when I get a suppressor maybe home defense. I want to be able to make a one time purchase for this red dot and not have it be I choose the higher moa and need the lower moa or choose the lower moa and need the higher moa so please help.

Best all around magnification for a magnifier?

I have an optic that doesn’t work with my two magnifiers because of the height difference so I am looking at a different magnifier that will work because it sits at the proper height but my problem is that I have 3 options 3x, 4x, or 5x for the same style and I’m trying to figure out which would be best on my 11.5” 5.56 that’s going to be used in competitions, range fun, possibly hunting and all of it I’m planning to use it over 100 yard for sure maybe even past 300 yards and I’m not sure which I should choose for the magnification. There’s a $30 difference between the 3 and 5 and I’m thinking it might be best to just get the 5x but would like some input on the magnification I should get. I already have the magnifier in mind so I don’t need suggestions on the magnifier or the optic brand just the magnification please help.

Finally put my firearm tracker on the App Store after a year of building it in my basement

Spent the last year building a firearm inventory app because I couldn’t find one that didn’t require an account or send my serial numbers to some server. Everything stays on your phone. Finally put it on the App Store today, it’s called ARSENAL if anyone wants to check it out. Free to download and start using

Should you clean a new gun before shooting?

New gun owner here. I'm wondering if newly-purchased firearms should be cleaned and oiled before taking to the range, or if it's fine/safe to fire them as is and then clean + oil afterward.

If indeed it should be serviced out of the box before using, to what extent should it be disassembled, cleaned and oiled? I have a pump action shotgun, a revolver and a glock in case that makes a difference.

Is there a higher likelihood of malfunction or other issues if you don't clean it out of the box?

Thanks.

Is a 12 guage revolver shotgun possible if still full shotgun sized.

I've heard conflicting reports. It seems thay in pistol form it is a destructive device. But if you still had a full length barrel what is difference between pump with 6 round capacity.

Have been saving up for safety crazy idea for years and am finding out it might not be allowed. Wanted to get a stupid double barrel 12 guage shotgun loaded by a single oversized cylinder with 12 round capacity. Would put a like 4 inch gap between the barrels but I don't think that would matter at that point.

would love to be pointed in a general direction of some help, advice. I'd like to make a "simulated" Glock for personal project and have a bit of difficulty finding a complete updated guide / description of processes..

Just wanna thank the mods and community for support on my last post about 2 weeks ago, I have gotten a lot of feedback and put all the suggestions back in the game. I'm proud to announce that all the amount of images provided by a few people dming me in this community was able to cover the remaining niche guns in the database.

The game now has a pool of nearly 1000 firearms, a cursed guns game mode, history modes, 10 person multiplayer, duels and more.

Ive worked very hard on the game and within my first week of posting hit 1000 individual players! if you're a gun guy you'll love it.

let me know if you have any suggestions, ill work em in asap!

Origin of primer nomenclature (1, 1½, 2½, 209, etc.)

Does anyone know where these primer designations come from?

In ballistics, many designations have a clear origin (dimensions, manufacturer, or historical — like Boxer/Berdan). But in these cases (1½, 2 ½, 5 ½, 7 ½, 9 ½, 209…), it looks like just a numerical sequence.

Are these related to physical dimensions, standardization (SAAMI/CIP), a specific manufacturer, or some historical origin?

If anyone has technical or historical references, I’d appreciate it!
