There's been a few things popping up about the funding and everything around Ground News. I'm a current subscriber but took the time to read through their about pages. Calling Kaur a "NASA Engineer" is not quite what everyone has in mind - we're talking at most 2 years with one of them taken up by an internship before going to get paid more money. Then there's the "ex-Bain consultant" co-founder and CTO Singh. He was a "senior associate consultant" - lowest post-undergrad role at Bain, entry level stuff.

Why does it feel like the brand that's supposed to be unbiased has unchecked bias of their own. Take a look at their 3rd principal:

3. Pragmatic not Partisan

We do not censor news sources as long as they are covering the facts of a story. That said, if you strip away enough context, any piece of truth can become a piece of misinformation. Our solution is not to be the arbiters of truth but to help readers analyze news coverage through direct comparison, which highlights how outlets equivocate or exaggerate. We can only do that if we include a wide selection of news sources.

I know this is small and pedantic, but come with me. Take this exact thought and apply it to Kaur and Singh, you end up with them stripping context around their employment just to smash a cool badge on their slide deck.

This doesn't sit right...

I just watched a YT video called ”the problem with ground news” and it raised alot of questions. The argument that made me reconsider if Ground news is trustworthy was that apparently Ground news is pretty secretive about where they get there funding from and even when there specifically asked they just answer with ”we are backed by a handful of mission-alinged independent induvidual investors, with no ties to corporate media, big tech, or government affiliations”. This sure sounds good but its a pretty vague answer considering there business idea is exposing where news organisations get there funding from. And considering how many big Youtubers there sponsoring there funding must be alot. The video also brought up a bunch of other problems with Ground news like pirating and AI but this is the argument/problem that stood out the most to me. Whats your thoughts on this and does anyone else have any info on Ground News.

Im a tiny bit geeked and endlish is not my first language so sorry if this post is hard to read lol
