Fintech Adoption in Pakistan: Risk vs Benefit

Hi everyone,

I am an Master's student currently working on a research article regarding the adoption of Fintech in Pakistan. We all use apps like EasyPaisa, JazzCash, and SadaPay, but my study looks at the "Risk vs. Benefit" side, specifically how security fears and trust impact our decisions to use these platforms.

If you have 5 minutes, please help a fellow student out by filling this form. It is completely anonymous and strictly for academic purposes.

I am specifically looking for responses from people living in Pakistan to make the data authentic. Thank you so much for your time and support!

Confused

So basically, many people in my family are GIKIans — including my older brother and even my dad 😄 — so it’s almost expected that I’ll go to GIKI as well. And honestly, I know GIKI has a great reputation. It produces some of the best engineers in Pakistan and has a really strong alumni network.

But something deep inside me is holding me back.

What confuses me is this: why do so many GIKI graduates, despite having excellent academic records and strong career starts, end up leaving engineering altogether?

For example, my own brother did Electrical Engineering from GIKI and landed a well-paying job at a UK-based company. But within just a year, he left that job and completely switched his field to supply chain management. And it’s not just him — many of his friends have done the same. In fact, right now, I don’t think even a single one of his close friends is still working in a core engineering role in Pakistan.

It’s not like they’re unsuccessful — quite the opposite. My brother is doing really well and is now working in the USA at a multinational company. But I still don’t understand why they left engineering in the first place.

Pehle itna ragra khao giki mae . Mar mar ka 3 gpa maro Aur phir Graduate hona ka bad engineering he chord dou 🙃 Ridiculous Tbh .

Stay in FAST or restart in GIKI

Assalamualaykum. Laugh all you want at my conundrum, but please give me some clarity in this matter.

I am currently in my 2nd semester as a BS CS student at FAST Islamabad. My CGPA right now is like 2.2 and I fear after this semester, its gonna drop even further and I might even have to repeat some courses. I thought I could cope with FAST and its relentless academic pressure. I just can't. Call me weak, idc.

Now currently, I'm looking into NUST and GIKI again. I had applied last year but coming from an A lvl background and basically no prep, I didnt get a good score. InshaAllah I'll study properly this time to possibly qualify for merit based aid possibly.

Say I get accepted into GIKI. Is it worth it? Some people might say i just wasted a year. Id say that I've already studied 1 year of this degree so if I'll be restarting from the beginning, I can actually excel and genuinely get a good gpa. Plus, I can look into extra curricular and stuff, or even side projects.

Am I delusional? Should I just suck it up and stay in FAST? This place is literal hell and I've genuinely tried to cope. I just can't. It's too much. I know people in GIKI and they are having so much fun while maintaining a good gpa. I want a university experience, not a glorified school one.

Please help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
