Confused

So basically, many people in my family are GIKIans — including my older brother and even my dad 😄 — so it’s almost expected that I’ll go to GIKI as well. And honestly, I know GIKI has a great reputation. It produces some of the best engineers in Pakistan and has a really strong alumni network.

But something deep inside me is holding me back.

What confuses me is this: why do so many GIKI graduates, despite having excellent academic records and strong career starts, end up leaving engineering altogether?

For example, my own brother did Electrical Engineering from GIKI and landed a well-paying job at a UK-based company. But within just a year, he left that job and completely switched his field to supply chain management. And it’s not just him — many of his friends have done the same. In fact, right now, I don’t think even a single one of his close friends is still working in a core engineering role in Pakistan.

It’s not like they’re unsuccessful — quite the opposite. My brother is doing really well and is now working in the USA at a multinational company. But I still don’t understand why they left engineering in the first place.

Pehle itna ragra khao giki mae . Mar mar ka 3 gpa maro Aur phir Graduate hona ka bad engineering he chord dou 🙃 Ridiculous Tbh .

Entrance Test

Hey! I know that admission to GIKI is mainly based on the entrance test, but I wanted to ask—what A-level grades are generally considered good enough for getting into Electrical or Mechanical Engineering?

Also, if you know anyone studying at GIKI, what kind of A-level grades did they have?

Thanks!
