Looking for AA or NA recommendations for my Dad in or near Georgetown.

He has been sober off and on for as long as I can remember but recently almost overdosed and it seems to have scared him enough to want to try and turn his life around.

Besides AA or NA are there any other groups that he could join to make new friends. Deciding to become sober for him has meant losing all his friends he previously had so lately he’s been feeling a little lonely and down.

I am also open to any tips or advice from anyone else who has or is currently going something similar with a loved one.

I am wondering how do people, specially those who live near the neighborhoods, feel about this new jail being built in by the inner loop close to Mitchell elementary and the new Wilco building. Any realtors here know what that means for home ownership and home prices? I’m looking to see what ya’ll think.

I want to do some remodeling to my house, but wanted to get a structural engineer to give an opinion on whether I should get foundation work done. Over the years I’ve had a few tile and drywall cracks along with some cracked brick outside with a door that stops shutting when it gets really dry.

I’ve seen Lake Engineers pop up quite a bit for SE recommendations in this sub, but when I visit the website I see they also advertise themselves as a foundation repair company. I just wanted to make sure that if I call them out to my house I’m not going to get a garden variety foundation repair sales rep trying to push a repair I might not need on me.

Has anyone on here dealt with them and care to share their experience, or have other structural engineer recommendations? TIA!

Hello everybody, as the title says i got offered an internship for the Georgetown pd for this summer. Excited to see whats to come. Anybody have experience in it or any insight i could get. Im pretty sure its unpaid which is a bummer because as a broke college student i kind of need income. I do have a job right now, I know i would need to change my schedule but do you think i need to quit? Anything helps thanks!

Edit: I do need an internship in order to graduate from my university so it’s kind of helping. However, anybody have other internships a government major can get would be helpful. Ive applied to numerous ones but this has been my only offer.

What's up, everyone? I'm gutted to say that something came up last minute and my family and I can't make it to the Dallas Stars playoff games this week. We have our seats for the 28th (Lower Level 118, Row J) that we need to find a home for since they shouldn't go to waste. If any fellow fans are looking to be there in person, please shoot me a PM!
