Buddhist temple visits?

What’s it like to visit the beautiful Buddhist temple on Garland Avenue? I have passed by it for years and only just now thought to visit. There’s another one down on Rosehill that I used to drive past almost daily.

Is it sort of “drop in”? I wouldn’t want to disturb any of their services or activities.

Moving in from out of state and getting mixed reviews on an area close to downtown Garland. Any thoughts about living in this area?

Cheap places with air conditioning to hang out at.

Recently moved back to Garland after almost a decade, and my new apartment has a chillwater system that my apartment manager refuses to turn on. Looking for cheap places to hang out at.

Preferably somewhere accessible on DART.

Considering some apartments in Garland. Is this a safe area to live? Any precautions?

Partner would be commuting to Dallas 5 days a week. How is the commute? (To North Dallas/ Northwood heights area?)

Edited to add job location..

Free coffee table

Seen on the curb, and trash pickup is tomorrow for this neighborhood. Buttercup Circle. Zip 75040.

Sturdy solid wood, no blemishes, storage in the bottom. It's too big for my car so bring a pickup truck! Two person lift.

Does anyone have kids going to Basis Richardson? If so, what has been your child’s and your experience as a parent?

I’ve got a child going to Kinder this coming year.

Hey everyone,

With gas prices being so high lately, I’ve been riding my e-bike more for my commute around Garland. I wanted to share a really useful app I’ve been using called BikeStreets.

It’s great at finding chill, low-stress routes that work well for regular bikes and e-bikes. I’ve been logging my rides and adding whatever good paths and shortcuts I discover since Garland doesn’t have as much data as Dallas yet.

If you’re also riding to save on gas or just enjoy it, feel free to check it out. Would be cool to see more local riders on there.
Ride safe!

I was walking home and saw call 911 on the word signal on a dart bus. I called 911 and they said they’ll get dart police on it. I thought about not at first and brushing it off but I’d feel guilty if something bad were to happen you know?

Make Garland Beautiful?

It would be nicer if they didnt spend tax dollars on giving people tickets with unmarked AI Camera cars (possibly flock?) if they're going to use mass surveillance why dont they use it to reduce the violence and human trafficking?

Saw a few in my yard today. Anyone else had much luck getting them?

Hey y’all, I’m not from the Garland area but I’m planning a date there soon. She really loves animals (especially horses), so I was hoping to take her to a petting zoo or somewhere with animal interactions

Does anyone know of any good petting zoos or farms nearby? I don’t mind driving a bit outside Garland if it’s worth it

Thank y’all 🙏

My daughter just turned 4 and I was wanting to see if I can get her into Pre-K in the school district, I picked one of the Montessori schools as a school choice. Now I have to take her to get some testing done?

Like what are they testing a 4 year old on? She knows her shapes and colors. We've been working on letters and numbers. She struggles counting to 10, because it doesn't interest her. She'll start listing off random numbers.

But what are they testing them on?

I'm trying to remember when I was going into kinder, my parents put me in a private school. So I had to get tested, but all I remember seeing were shapes. I don't know what to expect, or how to prepare her.

Anybody that has any experience please let me know. Even just telling me it's just shapes or whatever is helpful. I'm just nervous for her.
