Why is my altitude not being called out as I decend? Normally there's a voice calling out my altitudes as I get closer to the runway, but not for me.

This is a a perfect butter landing in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada and I noticed there were no call outs on my decent like "50... 40... 30... 20... etc." You know what I mean? If you listen closely you can hear it but it's like all muffled or something. Is there a volume knob I'm supposed to turn up to fix this? This is the only plane that does this.

Is there a timeframe for when we can expect the console bugs to be fixed after SU5?

Like many my sim is unplayable in career mode after the latest update. Which is unfortunate given how many hours I have put into this game since it came out for PS5. Hoping there are devs that monitors this subreddit & releases the patches soon or at least roll it back to SU4 until the bugs in 5 are ironed out.

CrewLife Status Update

Happy Friday! About 2 weeks ago, I published a post regarding the beta for a new career mode addon that I've been working on named CrewLife, and I just wanted to provide an update on what's been changed since then and all of the features.

What is CrewLife?

CrewLife is a virtual airline pilot career platform built around the idea that flight sim hours should mean something. In CrewLife, you can:

  • Start at a Cadet at either a Tier 1 or a Tier 2 airline and work your way up.
    • Promotions aren't simply earned through hours. Promotions are based on three things:
      • XP (Earned from completing checkrides, earning awards, and completing flights.)
      • Checkride (Written Quiz) Completion (Each rank has a different set of lessons and checkrides, everything is based off of real-world aviation knowledge.)
      • A little bit of background. I am a Private Pilot IRL and am working on earning my instrument rating, and continuing flying as my career. I feel as though one of the best ways for myself to learn is through teaching (I am NOT a Certified Flight Instructor, but I believe being able to explain things through lessons on the platform will cause me to better understand concepts myself and as an additive, allow others to learn about real world flying without requiring money to be spent)
      • Airline Hours (Number of hours flown for the airline you fly for.)
    • Each rank unlocks longer schedules, more route options, and more privalleges.
  • Earn money based on the tier and airline you fly for.
    • Money can be invested, saved, and spent on various items
  • Compete with other pilots via a leaderboard, either globally or simply for your airline.
  • Receive passenger reviews (Seeded from 10000+ different possible reviews) based on the way that you flew
  • Track your flight via the CrewLife Tracker
    • Supports Xplane and MSFS
      • Via XUIPC or FSUIPC
  • Apply for new airlines via our Job Board & Applications system
    • Competitive system - score is calculated from your hours, XP, reputation, and safety record
    • Appications take time to resolve with approval/denial + reason
    • Contract lock system that incurs an early exit fee if you decide to leave your airline within 30 days of joining it
    • and more..
  • Fatigue rules based on IRL regulations

Now, what's new since I last posted about CrewLife?

  • Simbrief Integration
    • CrewLife now has full simbrief integrations, including a full flight briefing sections based on your simbrief route
  • Tracker Update
    • the CrewLife Tracker has been updated to v0.3.1 which included a complete UI overhaul, and multiple QOL adjustments
  • ALL Checkrides and Lessons have been created for nearly ALL ranks.
    • Around 5-10 lessons were hand crafted per rank. Checkrides (Written quizzes) were also created.
  • Departure + Arrival Gate system
    • Airports have been hand curated for proper airline + gate assignments
  • Stock market
    • Created new way to invest money, using fictional stocks that have the possibility of having events that can cause stocks to either drop or rise.
    • Market is based on IRL hours and closes at IRL times as well.
  • UI Overhaul, the UI of the site has been completely overhauled and readability has been massively improved.
  • Weather based XP bonuses

Free flight crashed twice. Both times around 2 hrs in.

PS5

As the title says.

Is this an issue just related to the update and everyone being on using up the server?

Or is this something I can fix?

Thanks.

UPDATE: attempted it a third time after deleting cache from Playstation and it still crashed around 2 hours lol.

Massive updates to my free browser based airline career sim

Been flying sims for years and always felt like the career side was missing something real. VAs are great for community but the economics are usually seriously lacking or non-existent.

Aviator Ledger is my answer. It is a brower-based career simulator/efb. You pick one of 209 real airlines, a home base city, and start as a New Hire FO.

From there:

  • Pay calculated from real airline contract scales
  • FAA Part 117 fatigue with actual duty rig math, not just a rest timer
  • Tax by jurisdiction — a Dubai-based captain takes home dramatically more than the same captain based in London
  • 401(k), flight school debt, cost of living across 202 cities
  • Charter ops, aircraft ownership, and an IPO path
  • Virtual airlines — create your own, hire real pilots, revenue splits automatically on flight completion
  • AI ACARS with 7 Claude-powered radio messages per flight referenced to your actual route, aircraft, and weather

Works alongside any sim or none at all. Manual logging takes about 30 seconds. MSFS, X-Plane, Aerofly FS4, and Infinite Flight all have auto-import.

Currently in beta and totally free — no credit card, no download, just sign in with Google or your Email.

Looking for beta testers who'll actually poke at it and tell me what's broken or missing. aviatorledger.com

Not a big deal I guess but this is too dark

747-8

Just updated to SU5 and I'm trying everything out to see if everything works as it should.

This screen was a lot brighter yesterday and the photo does it no justice. Is there something in the cockpit I need to adjust or is this a new bug that's slipped through?

Career Mode appreciation post.

I just want to show some love for the mode since everyone is bashing it. Career mode even with all it's quirks, made me understand the basics of radio and ATC. That steeping stone made me finally pursue VATSIM, which I'm so grateful for. I don't think I would ever jump to Vatsim and make my simulator experience as realistic as possible without it.

Bonus: also it's amazing discovering beautiful airport s and sceneries while playing Career.

I've been improving my free MSFS cabin sound tool for months – v3.0 finally adds full SimConnect automation (no more manual clicks)

Hey r/MicrosoftFlightSim,

a few weeks ago I released 123FLIGHTSOUND – a simple tool to play realistic cabin sounds during your flights. Back then you had to trigger everything manually.

v3.0 just dropped and it changes everything:

SimConnect now detects your flight phase automatically and plays the right sounds at the right moment:

- 🛫 Boarding music & safety announcement on the ground

- ✈️ Seatbelt signs & service sounds during cruise

- 🛬 Landing announcement & arrival music on approach

Just start the tool, load your flight, and forget about it. It handles everything.

Still completely free & open source (GPL-3.0). Works with MSFS 2020 & 2024.

Happy to hear feedback!

Built a free browser-based career sim since MSFS 2024's built-in career mode fell short — here's where it's at

The built-in career mode in 2024 was supposed to be the thing that kept people playing long-term. Most people agree it didn't quite get there. I started building Aviator Ledger about 6 months ago for exactly that reason.

It runs in your browser, no install needed. Auto-imports your MSFS 2024 logbook — also supports SimToolkitPro and LittleNavMap CSV exports, and there's a drag and drop option if the auto-scan misses your install path.

Where it's at right now:

209 real airlines — every major carrier you'd have a livery for in 2024. Full cargo coverage (FedEx, DHL, Emirates SkyCargo).

Real pay scales with FAA Part 117 fatigue rules — 9h/24h and 30h rolling 7-day limits, enforced the same way they are for actual Part 121 pilots. The built-in career mode doesn't touch this.

109 tax systems — your home base city changes your actual take-home. Dubai pilot keeps significantly more than a London pilot on the same gross pay.

Private aviation — buy aircraft, hire crew, run charter flights, build a reputation system, and eventually take your company public with a full IPO system. Stock price updates weekly.

Director of Operations — once your charter fleet hits 15 aircraft you hire a DOps who auto-manages everything weekly. Three candidates with partially hidden stats, you pick one.

Two modes — Sandbox (skip time freely) and Iron Man (real UTC clock, no skipping, permanent decisions).

PWA - if you prefer app style playing instead of browser.

Video above shows the full loop. Free at aviatorledger.com — sign in with Google or Email to synch across devices (not necessary).

Oh dear......

Career mode. 4.5 hours into my flight and this happens out of the blue. I repaired before the flight and was still at 50% fuel. "LAND ASAP" I went to ATC, no option to ask for another airport. I changed transponder code to 7700, ATC "Your Transponder is malfunctioning. Set it to 0006". I couldn't deploy flaps or landing gear so I aborted the whole mess.

Words fail me........

Smooth landing at CYFB(Iqaluit) from CYVR(Vancouver) in the airbus a340-300

Some of you will probably say it sucks but what ever it's one od my better landings. Also, for some reason when I'm flying this plane I stopped hearing altitude call outs. Is that a bug or can I turn that back on somehow? Because it's helpful having someone called out 50...40...30...20...10...5...RETARD lmao. It used to do that that in this plane I don't know what happened to it.

Any new terminals added?

Just was curious. I was taxing out of LAX and idk if I was tripping but I saw a new terminal I promise wasn't there the other day.

Particularly, did they finish adding MCO's Terminal C? (My local airport). Can't look now as I'm mid-flight.

Overlooked feature...

So you guys see the "Change aircraft" option in the pause menu? Is that ever going to work lol.

Would be cool if wanted to do more than one flight in a single session and be able to change planes (and possibly gates, parking spots etc.) As you would in real life with a layover.
