This is the second update.
It's not a "game engine" yet, as there is nothing but rendering and moving.
I've mostly figured out sloped floors and walls are horizontally drawn now (for performance).
This is NOT a port of Build Engine or Doom source code.
Is there anything above the speaker?
Right there where I'm pointing the pistol. It looks like there is but this is the 1st level in the Episode I believe and the level does not have a jetpack. I vaguely remember being able to get up there without a jetpack once but maybe I'm tripping because I can't do it anymore.
It's Boomer Shooter Saturday! Come join us at 12:00 PM EST as we explore the BUILD Engine once again, continuing our level editing journey as we keep learning how to make things using the Mapster32 Level Editor, and playing some things made by the community for Duke Nukem 3D as inspiration.
Today we are playing through Duke Nukem Advance, the GameBoy Advance exclusive spin-off, but the Total Conversion where some mad lads ported the game to the PC. How will this stack up when you give it better controls and blow it up on the big screen?
As for the level editing, we'll, we have a couple of projects in the works, so I might just flip flop around based on my mood. Do we keep building out our movie theatre? Or maybe build an underwater base? Join us at noon to find out!
Btw I hope we get news soon about a Duke Nukem 3D remake with extra levels for the 30th anniversary.
(It Have Doomguy and Duke Nukem In Its Cover Art.)
I Think This Game Uses A Frankesteined Version of Both Doom and Build Engine, Dubbed it as "T3DFX 3D Real-Time Engine". in fact, it has a edited duke3d pistol sprite and also assets from other games. (like powerslave's hud).
(and there is also 3D Hero & Tao. oddly, they uses shadow warrior assets like the bee and statue sprite.)
Browning HI Power? Colt M1911? or a BDA?
I think, as well as DN3D it is a mix of Glocks and the bulkyness of a Desert Eagle, in this ocation for DN64 devs did not were very detailed in the hand gun. I personally tend to think is a BDA. What do you say?
I'm James Mccloud and I'm here to kick Andross' ass.
Why does he look like if Duke Nukem was a fox.
Combined my two favorite games. I'm trying to win a match (Squad mode for now) using Duke Nukem weapons from franchise or community. With all time quotes 😎🤣. PUBG is a hard game and tryed to give Duke mode a chance. "Come get some!" BTW Duke Nukem deserves a godd AAA TTP game with actual mechganics.
The weapons I encountered in the game were:
- The M16, DNF2001 Restoration Project (fan made).
-MP5, Duke Nukem Advance, DN Zero Hour, DN64 & Duke Nukem HRP (fanmade).
-Desert Eagle, Duke Nukem Advance, from DNF2001RP, also Duke Nukem HRP.
Cheap(ish) idea to make Duke relevant again?
I had a thought idea with a couple friends recently on how to bring Duke back in a way that could be achievable, while also keeping game dev costs/ROI in mind and how to move forward from Duke Nukem Forever. Seeing as boomer-shooters have become very popular over the past decade and that Duke is the patron-saint of FPSes in the late 90s...
Title: Duke Nukem 4D
- Partner with Nightdive Studios to remake Duke3D's Build Engine in Kex
- Emphasize the 4D in the name to retcon Forever, but keeping the style of 3D
- Create three new episodes (or a level-set matching the modern Dooms)
- Keep the plot simple: Alien Invasion of Earth OR remake Duke Nukem 1's plot with Dr. Proton. Switch it up with new enemy sprite designs
- Redo the weapon arsenal in the new episode/levels:
- Pump-Action Shotgun (Hit-scanning shotgun)
- Assault Rifle (Hit-scanning machine gun)
- Rocket Launcher (Self-explanatory)
- Flamethrower (Minigun with AOE and less distance)
- Double-Barrel Shotgun (Hit-scanning shotgun with higher damage, but longer cooldown per shot)
- Scoped Golden Deagle (Rail-gun with slightly less damage (except for headshots), but faster cooldown - basically Halo CE's magnum)
- Pipe-bomb launcher (Grenade launcher - make functionally similar to the dynamite in Blood - have secondary fire be detonate-able)
- Energy Weapon (BFG weapon - functionally similar to the namesake from TTO and LOTB - beam latches onto enemy and shreds them in seconds, but eats up ammo fast)
- 16-player Dukematch with cross-play capability
- Include Duke Nukem 3D's episodes + Atomic Edition + the Sunstorm Interactive expansions + the AWO episode from 2016
Thoughts?
How do you imagine the next Duke Nukem game?
A TTP in ARC RAIDERS, LAST OF US, PUBG fashion or another FPP?
