So like, how did dead as disco work as a band?
Each band member (except Charlie) seems to have their own unique genre of music they play, and they’re seemingly disgusted by all the others. What music does dead as disco even play. I doubt dex would play anything like rap music, or hemlock wouldn’t play k-pop. This band seems highly dysfunctional
The 5-Star experience
Obviously take this with some salt and even butter, the game’s still early access and fun as hell just DAMN is it hard to get 5 stars, even on easy.
Here's what we currently know about Dead as Disco (the band not the game)
The band consisted of at least 7 members:
Charlie Disco, the drummer and leader of the band who used to be a janitor for The Encore.
Hemlock, the punk bassist.
Arora, the k-pop singer who's also a robot made by Harmony.
Dex, the rock guitarist.
Prophet, the rapper.
Benny (Ded Benedict?), possibly the keyboardist.
An unnamed 7th band-member.
There could be an argument for Stix, the jazz legend being a member of DaD, but he I believe that he was a sort of mentor to the band, rather than a true member, especially since Charlie's drumsticks were a gift from Stix.
The reason why I'm saying 7 instead of 8, is because I believe that the third locked level (the one with the cracked screen) is DaD's revenge against Harmony and not another Idol, so I think that we have only two band members left. So 7 it is. There is a poster that shows 7 members of DaD with Charlie missing though. I dunno.
Charlie, Hemlock and Prophet also grew up in the same neighborhood, the Dead End Drive, where they swore that they'd never sell out, while Charlie, Benny and Hemlock formed DaD.
Dex was against body-mods, even when his body was failing and needed a cane. He only got body-mods when he sold out, and now requires constant charging.
We also know the solo songs of almost every single member of DaD:
Charlie: Charlie's Untitled Mixtape (really creative name mate).
Hemlock: Maniac, Authority, Subway Asylum.
Arora: Rhythm Divine, Rorivenge, Khwin Kha, Queencard.
Dex: Final Countdown, Echolocators, Chaos Control.
Prophet: Mission, Faith.
Benny: Holding Out For a Hero (that's assuming that Ded Benedict is Benny).
And that the band did make duet songs, because Send Me an Angel is a duet between Hemlock and Arora.
And of course, after their final tour when they wanted to part ways, Disco died and the rest sold their souls to Harmony. We don't know how Charlie died, but there are theories.
Some say that it was Benny.
Some think it was Stix.
I think that Harmony had him assassinated so they could get the rest of the band for themselves, because they knew that if they offered the rest to join Harmony after the tour while Disco was alive, he would've stopped them so they got rid of him before that could happen. But then Vice revived him (I think) and the rest is history.
Arora was the first to sell out because she was Harmony's property. Then came Dex, who got hooked up to a machine that forced him to play 24/7. Then Prophet became Harmony's talent manager to protect his friends from the inside, but Harmony corrupted him and forced him to ruin the careers of other aspiring musicians. Hemlock was one of the last, becoming an activist before giving in and becoming a enforcer for Harmony. We don't know anything about Benny right now.
The band after corruption (especially Prophet) was also convinced that Charlie sold out first.
It's also said that each member of the band has a deal that connects to one of the 7 Deadly Sins, so that could confirm that there are 8 members, but we currently don't know much else.
If there's anything I missed, feel free to tell me in the comments.
How would you rank the boss themes from best to worst?
Both the regular and boss remixes are factored into this.
Dex - Echolocators: It's the best non-licensed song in the game, change my mind.
Hemlock - Maniac: What can I say? It's a great cover of a great song.
Arora - Rhythm Divine: Even though I'm not a K-pop fan, I like this song. Though, the boss mix has one... questionable line which put an image in my head that I can't get rid off.
Prophet - Mission: Don't get me wrong, I like Mission, I think it's great, even though I don't like rap that much. The rest are just better imo.
Hemlock - Authority: This is the only song in the game that I'd consider bad.
What are your lists?
70 hours in and i JUST found out there is perfect system for regular attacks. (Ignore the horrible drawing i made)
Yeah my dumb ass learnt that apparently that also affects whether you get a more synced finisher or not.
Check out this super cool and fair challenge I made
38 seconds lasted is a new record
What do you think of my challenge?
Seems balanced I think
WTF is rhythm divine 5 star supposed to be?!?!ae
got a score of 52k and still not it. what is it for someone who got it?
Quality life and other features you'd like to see
It's great seeing the game getting widespread recognition and praise. I think it's safe to say the game surpassed it's launch goal. I hope the team is geeked and riding high, rn.
Without getting too into the meat and potatoes of the road map, what are some smaller additions/changes you'd like to see added? The stuff that will be on the change logs, not the advertising.
- General UI improvement/updates to the free play menu. Like sorting from Metadata (Artist, genre, year, etc) also, album art.
- More grunt and enemy styles for genres and settings.( Zombies/spooky models in the graveyard?)
- More stage/scenes from from the boss battles and transitions. Having the ability to make Playlists and challenges with stage changes using timestamps on the song would be awesome. Having an option from a brief cinematic to the enemy that charges you. That side scroller beat em up section in the Hemlock fight 🤌🤌🤌
-Most ambitious feature that would be amazing. The Prophet battle? When he starts spitting lyrics? Amazing. Having the ability to have synced lyrics in the Metadata and setting points in the song for lyric based ranged attacks. Also having a couple font styles for each boss.
Since the new movie can't satisfy me with it's music.. i just did it myself.
3 Down. One AI to go
“How are you going to do this?”
“…I have no idea.”
-Jack Burton
After completing all available story and mashing buttons to the rhytmn of the game i have a maybe unpopular opinion.
I love ALL stages, but hemlock? He has the best song, the best rhytmn to fight to, the best banter, the best one liner in the form of his "bass drop" boss fight start AND is the ONLY boss whos death is an actual part of the song that keeps the rhytmn and score going and not just a cutscene.
I started the game against him and my expectations were dropping each time i managed to beat a boss only to see it be a cutscene that interrupts the song flow.
I hope the future bosses imolement this and are not just a cutscene.
Finally found a Max BPM compatible song. (The Cycle - Noisecream)
One of the most fun and best sounding songs! (248 BPM)
Your choice of songs for custom battles
Hi everyone, disco legends. I've thoroughly enjoyed completing the story missions, and now I want to immerse myself in low-cortisol custom battles. Can you recommend songs of any genre that are suitable for dynamic battles and high-paced rhythms? (it can be with a high bpm, but not necessarily)
Finally got mod manager to work after the update
So glad the game is fairly easy to mod stuff for plus the devs being based by disabling the leaderboards if you install any is just prof of how much more goated this game is gonna be in the future.
When will the new bosses come out anyone know?
