M5 Worth it?

Hey folks, sorry, a bit of a brand-aligned question, but who is using the Mac M5 or M5 Pro chips to run Cubase? … and is able to give any insight on this compared to previous Apple silicon versions?

Just another incremental change that matters not, whilst memory spec is more important?

Appreciate your thoughts! Thanks!

Beginner Grunge Mix/Master Feedback Needed – I Remain

Hey everyone,
I’d appreciate some honest technical feedback on my grunge track I Remain.
I mixed/mastered it in Cubase with a Steinberg UR22C and aimed for a raw, emotional sound — not overly polished.

Main things I’d like feedback on:

  • Instrument/VST drum balance
  • Vocal placement & pronunciation
  • Overall punch and master quality

Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQEdfMMa1aw

Thanks a lot to anyone who takes the time to listen.

Anyone here using a Mac Studio for mixing in Cubase? I have a Cubase 15 Pro with a relatively extensive amount of sound libraries. My old PC’s motherboard broke and now I’m using my boyfriend’s Lenovo Legion 5 laptop as a temporary machine for mixing. Well, I can’t really borrow his stuff forever and I’m bound for an upgrade anyways so I wanted to ask people here if it’s worth the money to buy a Mac Studio instead? PC building for productivity can be extra expensive these days especially with the memory shortage issues, so I want to expand my options. Are they good? I want to hear your opinions. Thank you! :)

How can I do this?

Hello!

I am mixing an electronic music song and I was wondering how can I sidechain Kick and Snare to sound over the other instruments in the mix.

I thought that I could create a Channel bus for all the instruments of the mix (leaving Kick and Snare out of it) sidechain two Frequency (EQ) inserts (1: Kick, 2: Snare) with dynamic EQ, so always that Kick and Snare make a hit the desired frequency range comes down only when they sound.

Is this the correct way to do this or there is some better ways to achieve it?

I read you all!

I built a small visual shortcut tool for Cubase — feedback welcome

Hey everyone,

I’m a Cubase user and I made a small tool called KeyMap Designer.

It lets you import your Cubase key commands file and see your shortcuts directly on a virtual keyboard, so it’s easier to understand what’s assigned, what’s free, and how your workflow is mapped.

I’m still improving it, so I’d love to get feedback from other Cubase users.

Does this kind of visual shortcut manager feel useful to you?

Hello everyone,
I’ve spent the last few months building a massive library of Macros and PLE presets for Cubase to help speed up workflows. The library link - https://keycmds.com/vault

Here is how it works:

Natural Language Search: You just type what you are trying to do in plain English or Spanish. (You can try other languages, but it might struggle with specific names inside the Cubase menus).

A.I. Powered: The system will analyze your question and provide the exact preset you need based on your description.

Free Downloads: It gives you a free download link along with simple instructions on how to import it directly into Cubase. (You can assign shortcuts to the macro preset, and once imported, it’s ready to use instantly).

I’ve been using Cubase for over two decades, and I built this to solve my own workflow bottlenecks. The platform is still in beta, but I'd love for the community to test it and get some feedback.

If you need more info or have any questions, feel free to DM me here or reach out directly at contact@keycmds.com

Hey guys, ihope my question is not dumb or anything, but i would like to deinstall some third party plugins I've got, but never use, to free up some space on my C: Drive.
For some like Waves, UAD, Ugritone, etc i can just use the dedicated Plugin Manager like Waves Central etc.
But for Plugin Alliance plugins, there is no dedicated deinstall menu in the PA-Manager.
I could delete the fills all manualy, but I have a fear of corrupting some install data and that the deleted plugin isn't really wiped from my drive?
Would be great if u guy could help or got some tips.

STUCK

Super confused. I was starting to work on a mix for a track I recorded a while ago. I stopped the other night and noticed my windows computer needed to update. Came back a few days later and opened up cubase. I noticed immediately my audio wasn't working in the program but it would outside of it. I went thru all my inputs, outputs, vst connections, sample rate, turned off console room, stereo out etc...then i popped open my mixconsole and noticed my levels didn't move when i start the track... very frustrated because i for the life of me cannot figure out the problem. Is it the computer update or cubase not being routed correctly?

please help lol

Hi all. I'm a self "taught" maniac who approached Cubase like a dope in all the wrong ways, in my zeal to record my own stuff. I made projects that weighed a ton (and sounded like mud) because I didn't know enough to use sends, or route multiple tracks through the same fx chain. This led to me maybe having 8 separate tracks each with an instance of EastWest Spaces reverb loaded on it, as well as other unnecessary shit. I had Studio EQ loaded on each track because I couldn't find my way to the EQ that's already there. I used way too many very high res .vsts, until the projects almost suffocated under their own weight, took ages to load and made my laptop groan. I literally did all the stuff wrong, and now I am trying to step back and learn.

  1. If you are setting up to record an album, what is the right way to get your project ready?
  2. Do you record all the songs in the same project, or save them as separate projects?

I think a template sounds like something I need, to make sure the songs each have the same sound consistency and volume etc - damn I don't even know the correct terminology. Is there a standard prep process that could save me from future headaches? My disorganized approach has to end. I need to learn this, I can't afford to pay external professionals, although I have so much respect for audio engineers, it blows my mind.

Connecting Computer Speakers to Cubase

Hi everyone! I’m super new to cubase but am kinda struggling with my audio setup. I have two standard speakers that plug into the back of my computer via headphone jack, but for some reason there’s no option for audio output.

Ive looked into it a little and it seems like I need a driver for them, but again these speakers were simply bought and I installed the hardware; there was no driver or additional software that came with them.

I’m not sure if I’m over engineering this or if I should track down a dedicated driver online, this would not be ideal, but I’m a little frustrated by how convoluted this whole thing is 😅

I'm selecting multiple tracks to assign a color to them, but the color is only being applied to a single track. How can I fix this?

Does Cubase have anything like FL Studio's Patcher?

So I'm looking to make the switch from FL Studio, been using it for nearly 20 years casually, but I'm hitting limits, such as MPE support, Stability, etc.

I do arrangements and recordings, and it seems like it'll work well for that, but I use Patcher all the time and was hoping there was something similar, or at least a work-around to do something like it.

I searched reddit posts, and could only find one from 7 years ago, so maybe there's something different now?

One of my use cases is having multiple instances of the same effect in parallel, with midi notes routed to one instance of the plugins for a Bon Iver - Creeks style vocal effect, here's a post I made in the FL sub showing what I'm talking about.

Patcher Reminder - Remember that Patcher exists and play around with it! You can make some wild stuff. (Like having 3 instances of PitchMonster)

Long story short, when I’m on the move I often use the steinberg built in Asio driver and every time I plug my headphones in I have to open the studio setup, open the control panel, select the headphones and then open audio connections and select the headphone outs.

Is there a way that it can just detect when headphones are plugged in?

Using windows 11 and unsure if this is a windows thing or a cubase thing!

I use Cubase entirely for mixing down concert tracks, usually folk festivals so track counts are low usually under 24. I upgraded to Cubase Elements 15 from 13 when I bought a shiny new Mac mini M4 with 16 Gig of ram a couple months ago. My previous mixing computer was a 2018 MacBook Pro running Cubase 13. That computer worked well for the track counts and plug ins I use. Cubase 15 on the Apple Silicon machine is constantly throwing beach ball when opening plug in windows, when selecting tracks even when just hitting play on as few as eight tracks with a single reverb plug in.

Clearly I've missed some setting somewhere. Web searches turn up suggestions for  turning off GUI graphics acceleration in preferences but I find no such setting. I usually mix from external drives and that worked fine for years as far back as Firewire drives. What can I do to get this to work better. Any suggestions appreciated.

I can't figure out how to record the Instrument Track to an Audio Track to save my life. I'm trying to record the Vocoder sounds in Analog Lab V to an audio track and the farthest I got without pulling my hair out is being able to side chain my mic track to the Instrument track and using monitor to only hear the vocoder effect in my headphones. In Ableton Live 12 lite, I can just easily route my mic audio track to the VST plugin/midi track, then route the audio from that midi track to another audio track for recording. It's way too difficult in Cubase to figure out. Well for me at least, I could really use some help

Dear community,

I have some problems with my plug ins in Cubase as it shows paths and plug ins that simply don't exist.

For reference: I am using a Mac and have Cubase 15 Pro. I used to have VOCALOID and Synthesizer V (trial versions both) and deleted the files and programs from my computer about a year ago, before I purchased Cubase and used it. Apart from Kontakt 8 and Vocoder, I do not have any other plug ins. My Cubase version is probably as vanilla as possible.

I was watching the tutorials on how to force Cubase to scan plug ins by deleting the Cache (Library/Preferences/Cubase 15/Cubase Pro 15 VST3 Cache) and where to look for the folders that Cubase is searching through. According to the VST Plug In Manager, there is supposed to be a Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 folder but this one doesn't exist on my drive. There is a VST folder however, but it is completely empty.

For some reason, the editors of VOCALOID and Synthesizer V still open when I create a new track in my project. But shortly after that Cubase crashes. Obviously, I can just hide the plug ins in the Plug IN Manager but the fact that Cubase is able to load the editors of programs that a) have been deleted and b) are located in folders that don't seem to exist, leaves me confused.

Thank you very much for your help!

apollo x and shure sm7b mic come in today then the whole vocal set up is ready
im afraid i have another(final) thing on my hands i wouldn’t call it a problem just a thought maybe. i have these beats that are great but im wondering if they can sound better like for one objectively how do you make plucks sound better and a violin in a beat do you route them to a bus with a soft clipper is that tried and true do you side chain the plucks to the kick do i look into another piece of equipment, (i bought the apollo after someone recommended it) am i better off going to a studio to get the beats polished, or hiring someone online, or just doing it one my own? im basically an entry level producer

im using labs for the instruments so im pretty sure they already compress those and alter them for the beat but maybe not accordingly? and another thing would be the bass, 808s like i tuned mine but im really looking for studio quality, drums too, anyone have any suggestions or equipment i can look into? just any tips really on how to get studio quality beats because i want to really make stuff that people will listen to and be like “damn” and i’m on that path for sure.

i have this pluck beat with a violin that goes crazy it sounds so good together. i just want to get it right as best as i can.

thank you.
