Saw this Zenith 3 Space Command on the side of the road. Would've grabbed it but I didn't see any cables on the back.

What’s Better Than A Netflix Subscription?

Having the ability to get up, look at your shelf of movies and putting it in your VHS or DVD player. I just finished watching My Cousin Vinny on VHS, one of the best movies I watched from the early 90s. People who grew up in the era had one hell of a time.

Screen color difference

Its harder to tell on camera irl but the screen around 1-2inches has lighter color / contrast. Does anyone know why?

JVC TM-90PSN (+raspberry pi 4?)

Hello! I’ve just got my hands on a JVC TM-90PSN (1983).

I want to use it with a Raspberry Pi 4.

Is this the right pathway? Or what’s the highest resolution solution?

Video Path:

Raspberry Pi 4 ➔ Micro-HDMI to HDMI Cable ➔ HDMI-to-AV Converter ➔ Yellow RCA Cable ➔ RCA-to-BNC Adapter ➔ Monitor

Audio Path:

Raspberry Pi 4 ➔ Micro-HDMI to HDMI Cable ➔ HDMI-to-AV Converter ➔ Red/White RCA Cables ➔ Stereo-to-Mono Y-Adapter ➔ Monitor

Is the video input in the monitor BNC?

The other plug options are RGB TTL and EIAJ 8-pin VTR connector?

Got this 1984 Sears CRT today, and hooked it up to my Fisher VCR from ‘85. Figured a success post for the night would be good for the page!

Got some Judge Dredd playing, cleaned the heads and got everything sorted on the tv, now just to decide where to put the darn thing!

Accidental Brand New Magnavox Find

I picked up this 32 year old 25" Magnavox TV from the side of the road by complete accident. Our city street cleanup is next week and I wasn't even looking for stuff yet, just happened to be driving around doing other things.

This particular one is RF only so it has a hot chassis. I've opened it and verified this, so no mods can be done safely. Has a great picture and crucially, the previous owner left the brightness and contrast settings in the center (default). I will instead be installing a custom Yi Chuang chassis which will offer multi-standard composite inputs and I'll further modify the board to add s-video and component inputs. Like a sleeper build.

Always check these older RF only TVs. This example is very clean with the only real dust being from the previous owner's garage. Clearly it has seen very little use!

The CRT itself (the tube) is mine is practically mint. Emissions peg the needle on my tester (first photo). Color tracking is bang on (second photo). And the life test is excellent as well (third photo). Tubes like these are great for board swaps or for putting in arcade machines as donors!

1982 Zenith Color TV Issues

I saved this Zenith Y1908W from the trash the other day and have done a bit of restoration (even found the missing knob on ebay!) but despite my efforts I can’t seem to get a clean picture. It’s sometimes missing color, sometimes missing lines, and always static-y/snowy/jittery. Sometimes I’m able to get clean audio, which sounds surprisingly good through the mono speaker. The only inputs are the old screw-type VHF/UHF twin leads so I’m delivering audio/video through a string of adapters (which I successfully tested on other TVs so no issue there).

I expect at some point I’ll have to go in and adjust the convergence but before that I’d at least like to have a stable signal. I also have the original Photofact service manual if that would be helpful in diagnosing the issue(s).

Thoughts?

Essa TV tem aproximadamente a mesma idade que eu e ainda funciona perfeitamente, as coisas antigamente realmente tinham qualidade.

I have no idea where to start with this, I have good soldering skills but no idea what I’d have to replace, and yes I know about the whole high voltage fly back

Issues with Toshiba 32a41

Howdy, fellas. Got this beauty off of fb marketplace last year and it worked fine for a few months. After moving things around in the basement, it suddenly stopped responding to the remote and (more importantly) had no picture or sound. I opened it up and didn't notice anything that looked disconnected from the move, and so I just shrugged and set it aside until recently since I had no use for it for a while

Plugged it back in today out of curiosity, and was surprised to get...SOME sort of picture. It's a single horizontal line, starts out as green and eventually settles into being white, with a buzzing sound to accompany it. Is this salvageable? Would love to have this for my retro gaming space downstairs, so if I can fix this that would be great.

It works well and is still in use today.

[KV-14T1K] yellow-ish, sometimes red-ish picture, more apparent when there is input signal

i got this TV for basically free from my friend. when the TV is first turned on, the screen comes up like in the video. when warmed up, it turns into yellow-green-ish hue that's more apparent when i turn on my console. my friend told me that capacitors need to be replaced. where should I start? I've soldered a bit before and replaced some corroded PS1's PSU components, so I can manage with a soldering iron.
