Just got Delivery!

Just got Delivery!

Oh yeah, just got my first lot of gear delivered all the way down here in New Zealand. Can't wait to start using all this. I'll definitely be getting the smoker going this weekend. Like an idiot I only ordered one fridge magnet, guess I'll get a second one when the Combustion Engine launches lol

Made A Magnetic Probe Holder

Made myself a magnetic probe holder for use in-pot.

The holder was cast in a 3D printed mold with silicone and has a neodymium magnet.

For the silicone I used Smooth-On Soft-SIL 940 (Could probably go 950). The Magnet is a nickel plated neodymium magnet that is rated to 300 degrees.

This is just a prototype, i'm planning to evolve the design just a bit, but I am super happy with the result. I tested the holder by running it in a closed pot for an hour and didnt notice any issues with the part or the magnet. The holder holds the probe perfectly.

Giant Grill Gauge on Hasty Bake

Just got my GGG and set it up on my Hasty Bake Gourmet Pro. Super easy to install and setup perfectly. I figured I’d post here in case others were wondering.

Ordered 9/23/25, shipped 5/1/26, still in transit

Every step of this order has been delayed. I should have asked for my money back as I don't trust this uniuni carrier. I never heard of them before.

Gridfinity Holder for Combustion Inc Probes and Accessories

I created a 3D model for a holder for a couple probes, display, and giant grill gauge. The slots for the probe boosters are designed to hold the boosters sideways so that the probe cannot pop out. It uses the Gridfinity base. You can download the 3D model from Makerworld.

Ambient temperature in oven

I have a combustion thermometer and when I use it in the oven the ambient temp is way below what the oven is set at (sometimes as much as 50 degrees), I have tried it with convection on and off.

Is my oven that far off? Are they reading different things?

UNIUNI??

Apparently my GGG is on its way via UNIUNI... and... no status since Monday - 4 days later I wonder where it is?? UNIUNI is a new one for me & Reddit's r/uniuni subreddit isnt very encouraging ... their online chatbot is kinda iffy on the location of where my package might be - telling me that its on its way to their "Southeastern warehouse" - which Grok tells me is @ the Atlanta airport. Crossing my fingers... Charleston, SC isn't 4 days drive from Salt Lake!

Now, Steve Gow has a new video and also a webpage and downloadable Excel file (and may create a web-based calculator) for his approach to applying the science of rendering collagen at different times and temps when smoking brisket.

I ordered a Predictive Thermometer with WiFi Booster & WiFi Display in early march. Supposedly to ship in March, obviously it missed that target, and very nearly missed April too (we’ll see if USPS actually gets the package before midnight tonight), but it did finally ship.

Hopefully this gives some timeline info to people who are still waiting. Godspeed.

That all said, I do think there should have been more proactive communication from Chris and the team. I shouldn’t have had to find this subreddit to figure out why my thermometer hadn’t shipped.

Update on my WiFi boosters

Opened a ticket on 4/6/26 for replacement WiFi boosters because probes won’t stay in them.

Still waiting, more shit on back order and unable to ship. This is unbelievable.

I’ve noticed lately that my iPhone Combustion app isn’t alerting me when food is ready unless I have the app in the foreground. This seems to be new behavior. Is anyone else noticing this? Any settings I may need to check/change, or any fixes for this?

Hey All,

I didn't want to necro this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/combustion_inc/comments/16pf1z2/gefisher_paykel/) but my current GE induction range is starting to fail (control panel) and one thing I've noticed is that even if the parts are available for repair they tend to be priced just less than a new unit :(

Anyway, if I'm going to get a new range I'd love to have one where I can use my Combustion Inc probes in the oven and on the top.

I've found some GE ones that use BT probes but I have no idea if they'll work with the Combustion one. Here is what I've seen so far:

GE Model PHS93XYPFS

GE Model PHS930YPFS

Anyone actually running one of these (or other) that could comment on the experience?

Thanks - TonyG
