What do I have here

Family heirloom handed down. I believe it came to my parents from a great aunt’s house in Idaho in the 1960s.

It used to run.

Curious as to cost of getting it running, and value to collectors.

Thanks!

What is this clock

Gifted to our family years ago, transported home to home, never displayed and doesn’t seem to stay running, even if it does chime the hour.

Gifted this clock, but the dancers do not dance.

I was given this clock and it works perfectly, but the dancers do not dance, when I opened the back it had this metal piece laying down. Any idea on how/where to attach it to the movement?

What machines do I need to make my own wheels and pinions?

Recently, at my university I took a milling class. We learned to operate a Fehlmann P18. This really kicked off my enthusiasm for mechanical contraptions and clockwork mechanisms. This gave me the Idea to make a simple weight-driven clock out of brass. I have been reading and have a more or less clear idea on how the gear train, escapement mechanism and pendulum should be designed; the problem is I don't know what machines I need to build my own gears.

I haven't found much information online; however I've read a watchmakers lathe or a mill can be used. What are affordable machines you recommend I use? Should I buy a fly cutter?, what drill bits do I need? As you can tell I am unfamiliar with the horological world and need good advice.

Help with identification

Hello! Trying to get any information that I can on this clock. The only thing that I know is that it is a Kirch, can’t find any other identifying info, been searching online for something similar for a while! Haven’t found anything with this exact design. Not necessarily posting here with the intention to sell, but if anybody had any information about the value, that would be good to know as well! Thanks 😊

Adjustments Hermle movements

Clock out of beat and I believe that the crutch needs to get centered, but nevertheless similar to most other clocks and for adjusting beat? Somebody had already worked on this prior to me.So there's a lot of things that are wonky, so having to make minor small adjustments to try to get it to tick again.

🕰️

Hello, I have recently inherited this clock. I was wondering if anyone had this clock and if they could pass me on the name if possible please? I am not looking to sell I am just curious on its history. I believe it’s from Germany, around 1910s possibly? My great grandfather earned the clock from doing a house move in the 1940s 😀 I will be taking it to get serviced soon. Thank you

IMPROVED THIRTY HOUR MADE AND SOLD BY THE E. N. WELCH, Mre Co.

I got this in horrible shape for $ 10, not running, but I got it back up and ticking. Even though it still needs a lot more work and restoration, at least it's keeping time again!

Best guesses on how old this clock is?

Bonus if the brand/maker is identified! I've observed this clock outside a building near London UK but residents don't know its origin, and the building itself is very boring with nothing to show on google.

Looking for a cheap wall clock with a noticable ticking sound

Found a similar post on this from 5 years ago with no real turnout so I thought I'd try again...anyone have recommendations for a wall clock that ticks? Everything I find online is non-ticking/silent but my husband keeps talking about wanting a clock that ticks. Doesn't have to be super loud, but enough to be noticeable in a quiet room. Ideally something more modern looking than grandfather style. I've tried several antique stores with no luck either (unless I wanted to pay a fortune)

Gent of Leicester Pulsynetic C7 Master Clock or Time Transmitter.

This is my Gent C7 "Time Transmitter" or Master Clock.

This is from the early 1950s, and these were originally the gold standard time source for an office building, factory or school most typically, and were designed to send a current impulse around a big wire loop in a large building, which would advance all the clock faces in a building in step with each other.

I've wanted one of these for some years, because my secondary school used to run a system of these clocks, with a transmitter almost exactly like this one, and it fascinated me as a student (at the time being nearly fifty years old and still running fine) and still interests me greatly now.

I've had this clock getting on for three years, but I've only recently managed to get it up on the wall. I'm in the slow process now of trying to regulate it, I want to see if I can achieve the accuracy the manual states is more than achievable of a second a week.

The timekeeping is pendulum based, but it's powered electrically - every half minute a catch is released which allows a weighted arm to not only impulse the pendulum to keep it swinging, but also closes a switch to advance not only the clock face in the door, but all the clocks in the building a transmitter like this would control.

Mine's currently running off an ordinary 12 volt DC wall adapter, and I'm in the process of building a little battery box to give it some ability to withstand power cuts. It doesn't need much as at the moment it's only running itself.

It obviously needs a bit of work on the case, but part of me is very aware that this is an ex industrial clock and some of its war wounds are part of its history.

...Though I must admit I want to get rid of that ugly arc in the bottom of the case inside, where the rating nut must've spent some years rolling back and forth along the back of the case!

Any questions feel free and I'll try to answer.

Black Forest Cuckoo weight size

Thrifted this cuckoo without weights or pendulum. I have it running with items cobbled together from the garage but would like to try to complete it but not sure what I need. I believe this is a 1 day clock.

Japy Freres Portico clock issue

Hello everyone, I recently overhauled this Japy portico clock. it was fully and properly cleaned, bushing inspected, oiled, everything appears to be original, however the clock runs almost an hour fast per day, even with the pendulum at its lowest. I thought it could be the suspension spring, so I replaced it with a thinner one, and while it gave the pendulum more motion or amplitude, it didn’t solve the issue. the slight bend or kink in the suspension spring also should not effect the timekeeping this harshly. what could be going on here?

Wall clock left by previous homeowners

Hi everyone! We’ve just moved to a new property in Australia and the previous owners left this wall mounted clock. Hoping for some information about it because we’ve never owned a nice clock before!

The imprint at the back of the movement piece says Franz Hermle and has the number 241-840 underneath. Also if I were to measure the size (seems like the options are 75cm, 85cm or 94cm) what exactly do I measure?

Any advice/information appreciated! Thanks so much 🥰
