Enlightenment — 1834 “Nathan der Weise”

This is a copy of an important piece of Enlightenment literature I picked up for only $24. it’s a pocket sized book in good condition of “Nathan der Weise”, or “Nathan the brave” from 1834, written in the original German Fraktur. It tells a story of religious tolerance, and includes the famous “ring parable” from Lessing. It has a beautiful gilded cover and edges. I hope to read this in my free time.

Japy Freres Portico clock issue

Hello everyone, I recently overhauled this Japy portico clock. it was fully and properly cleaned, bushing inspected, oiled, everything appears to be original, however the clock runs almost an hour fast per day, even with the pendulum at its lowest. I thought it could be the suspension spring, so I replaced it with a thinner one, and while it gave the pendulum more motion or amplitude, it didn’t solve the issue. the slight bend or kink in the suspension spring also should not effect the timekeeping this harshly. what could be going on here?
