What is the best English translation of Chrono Trigger?
I'm about to replay Chrono Trigger for the zillionth time. Previously I've beaten it on SNES, PSX, and DS. For this playthrough I'd like to know if there's a consensus or general way to identify the de facto best translation.
I think there are two main translations, correct? One is the original SNES translation (by Woolsey), and then later versions around the DS era did a re-do.
If at all possible, if you're able to give even one or two particular examples of why you like that translation better than the other, I would be fascinated to learn about that from you.
Secondary Question: Does anyone know of a source that has detailed notes on the Japanese writing in Chrono Trigger? I was recently reading some notes on subtleties in the Japanese writing and would love to have more information like this.
Stuck at the Zabie door lock system on my 3ds
I have tried xaby, I have tried xyba, I have tried holding the l&r buttons as I input xaby, but nothing works. I'm playing the game that was made for the DS, but each time I press xaby nothing works. When I press x I don't hear a chime, when I press a I hear a chime But the text disappears, and when I press b The screen that Chrono is standing in front of turns off. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong, or if it's something wrong with the game, but if anybody knows how to help me get past this door, please help
Finished the game…now what? Any other games?
I finally finished Chrono Trigger. And truly, this is how you do a game. The characters are great, no bloat, and it’s just so, so much fun. The dialogues, the interactions, the battling, tuning your equipment, etc. It all just works perfectly. Of course, it’s old, but it holds up really well (I think a lot of 2D games hold up way better than the early 3D games because of the style).
But what game next? I loved that this game didn’t take too long. I think a lot of JRPGs just get too long for the story they are trying to tell, and Chrono trigger is the perfect length, where every moment pushed the narrative forward, in a fun way. Is there any other game like it in that way?

So I've completed every side quest in the game (I haven't yet killed our dear >!Lavos !<yet)(I killed the shell via the 1999 bucket), and I'm wondering if I can still go win a bunch of cat food to get more cats...
I'm on the SNES.
