Tried to capture my perspective visiting China's largest city as accurately as I could through my phone. First time visiting the country and I loved it!

Tried Hotpot in Chongqing and my nose has been bleeding since

Last night I tried the local hotpot in Chongqing. Normally I can tolerate really spicy food but the spiciness of what I had was a different level my body wasn’t prepared for. Just a bit of background, I am suffering bad reaction from pollen in Beijing a week ago so I have a bit of clogged nose. Note that I also ordered “less spicy” in the specification as I know local tastebuds have different standards when it comes to spiciness.

When I started eating, I noticed immediately that the spiciness is indeed intense as I started coughing. This made me question if they took into consideration the “less spicy” request I had in the order. Then after a few more bites I had runny nose so I had to blow. When I did, there was blood. And it kept bleeding with the runny nose. Mind you I am on blood thinners for my heart medication. I didn’t even finish the meal at that point as the bleeding wouldn’t stop. I ended up resting in the hotel. It’s now more than 24 hrs and there’s still some blood when I blow my nose so I do it very slowly.

It should have been an experience for the books but somehow it’s now a bit traumatic for my. 😫

Hello Everyone! I am a student from Singapore and I love collecting postcards. I would love to receive postcards from anywhere in Chongqing 🙂. Can someone send me one?

Hello Everyone!

I’m a student from Singapore and I enjoy collecting postcards. I would be very grateful to receive postcards from anywhere in Chongqing. 🙂

If postcards aren’t available, I’d also really appreciate a greeting card, city card, or even a small souvenir. (like a keychain, rock, local snack, flag, ornament, cap, T-shirt, or handmade craft).

This is for my personal collection, and not for any commercial purpose.

If you’re willing to help, please leave a comment and I’ll share my mailing address with you.

Thank you very much, and best wishes from Singapore!

Firstly thanks to all the kind people helping each other on this subreddit. I am traveling from Chengdu to Chongqing and then will be traveling to Zhangjiaje.

I have made the above itinerary for Chongqing. I can spend 6 days in Chongqing.

I have some questions regarding this itinerary and would like help in the same.

  1. Is the itinerary on Day 1 exploring Jiafangbei Possible?

  2. Which is Crown Escalator / Hongyancun Escalator and Huang Guan Escalator? What is the difference between them?

  3. Is the itinerary on Day 5 possible on own? Or should i book a tour?

  4. Any mistakes in the itinerary I made?

  5. On what day I can visit the Half mountain cliff line?

  6. Best place for enjoying the drone show from?

7.Where can I accommodate the following Photo spots in my itinerary?

-Chongqing Bike Video

-Rainbow Wall

-Rainbow Stairs / Sky Ladder

-Raffles through the Circle ( Near Clock Tower).

Thanks in advance.

Stray animals in Chongqing

I recently visited Chongqing for a week and realized how many stray dogs/cats there are. This isn’t a criticism though, I found that almost every single one of those animals looked healthy and well fed. I saw store owners giving the animals their leftover product after the day was over, kids feeding stray cats, I even saw a woman stopped on a staircase to hand-feed a kitten some wet food.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this in regards to Chongqing, but I think it is so wholesome. I’ve travelled to over 30 countries, a lot of those places had a ton of stray animals, and no where else did I see people taking care of them like I did in Chongqing. I was just really taken aback and honestly moved by how sweet it was. Has anyone else noticed this?

Took guests hiking in Chongqing today — exhausted but worth it!!!

Today’s route in Chongqing was a hike instead of the usual crowded holiday spots — my guests said they didn’t want to deal with the public holiday crowds, so I took them up into the mountains.

We started along Huangge Ancient Trail, an old mountain path that used to be part of daily life here. Most visitors would walk right past it without realizing its history, but for locals, it’s a quiet shortcut through the mountains hidden in the city. Then we went up to Laojun Cave Taoist Temple, one of the most famous Taoist temples in Chongqing.

People come here for vegetarian meals, fortune telling, and panoramic mountain views — it’s one of those places that feels deeply local, spiritual, and slightly off the typical tourist track🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Tour guides- feel free to respond to users directly within this thread if they have indicated they are open to being contacted. Please respect those who have not indicated or indicated they would not like to be contacted.
