I’m moving to Reno to go to community college this fall, I’m moving from Milwaukee WI but have lived all over the country. I’m wondering if there’s a decent alternative/punk/underground music scene in Reno, just to get my foot in the door when it comes to meeting people.

Other than that, any other recommendations or things to note about the city would be great. I’ve lived in Arizona before but never this area of the country. If it matters, I’m a freshly 18yr old male.

I recently visited Chongqing for a week and realized how many stray dogs/cats there are. This isn’t a criticism though, I found that almost every single one of those animals looked healthy and well fed. I saw store owners giving the animals their leftover product after the day was over, kids feeding stray cats, I even saw a woman stopped on a staircase to hand-feed a kitten some wet food.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this in regards to Chongqing, but I think it is so wholesome. I’ve travelled to over 30 countries, a lot of those places had a ton of stray animals, and no where else did I see people taking care of them like I did in Chongqing. I was just really taken aback and honestly moved by how sweet it was. Has anyone else noticed this?
