Competition: Women’s FA Cup, semi-final

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Welcome to the /r/chelsealadiesfc match thread as we battle Manchester City for a spot at the FA Cup final at Wembley. Here you will find a match preview, squad notes, and updates once we kick off.

MATCH PREVIEW

This is the fourth time we’ve played Andree Jeglertz’ side this season, in what is his first term with City. The Mancunians humiliated Chelsea in the Super League back on the first day of February, with the match finishing 5-1 to the home side at the Etihad. But the Blues were the victors in our League Cup match and in the reverse WSL fixture, which ended 2-1 at the Bridge back in September.

City are confirmed to be taking the WSL crown from Chelsea, who are also the Women’s FA Cup holders and will be anxious to retain this trophy in a season that has not been easy. Sonia Bompastor’s Blues are on a five-game winning streak.

The road here: In January, Chelsea reached the fifth round of this competition by putting five unanswered goals past Crystal Palace. Sam Kerr scored a brace while Millie Bright, Guro Reiten, and Alyssa Thompson were also on the score sheet that day. Manchester United were our next opponents, and we broke through late thanks to Kerr, but Simi Awujo forced the tie to extra time when she netted the equaliser for the Red Devils. Naomi Girma came on as a sub and was a crucial addition to the back line in extra time. The American also scored the winner with a quick reaction to poke home a loose ball in front of goal.

We drew Spurs next and the result was also 2-1 thanks to a late strike, this time from Veerle Buurman on her debut goal for the club. Kerr was also on the scoresheet for Chelsea.

The winner of this match is to face the winner of Liverpool v. Brighton on 31 May at 15:00 BST.

Girma will not be available, as she’s had a setback with her calf, per Bompastor. She also missed our 3-1 win against Leicester at the weekend. Hannah Hampton, who was rested for that match, will likely start today.

Millie Bright will be honored at Chelsea's season finale versus Manchester United at Stamford Bridge

u/spherocytes — 1 day ago

Date: Sunday, 3 May 2026

KO: 14:30 UK time

Competition: WSL

Venue: King Power Stadium

Welcome to the /r/chelsealadiesfc match thread for our penultimate match in the Women’s Super League. Here you will find a match preview, squad notes, and updates once we kick off.

MATCH PREVIEW

As we near the finish line of the 2025/26 season, a trip to Leicester greets the Blues today.

Chelsea are second in the league, six points behind Manchester City (who lost last weekend). A win today would guarantee us a top-three finish in the WSL and thus the opportunity to play Champions League football next season. Leicester City, who have been in a poor run of form, are at the bottom of the table. Aggie Beever-Jones’ early strike gave Chelsea the victory when we met the Foxes earlier this season.

Beever-Jones, who has missed the past five matches, will be available for selection today per Sonia Bompastor. There are no other changes to the squad after our 4-1 league win against Everton last Sunday.

Last week, club captain Millie Bright, who had been out with injury since February, announced she is retiring. She won every major domestic trophy multiple times with Chelsea, and her presence will certainly be missed around the first team.

After this is the FA Cup final against City at Wembley, followed by the final league match against United at Stamford Bridge. COME ON, CHELSEA!

Chelsea [2]–0 Man City (2–3) — Sam Kerr, 59'

Sam Kerr scored Chelsea's second goal in their 3–2 loss at home to Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Women's FA Cup! It's her 16th goal of the season in all competitions and her fourth in the FA Cup this season! She could've even had a hat-trick but two of her goals were ruled out! Well done Sammy!

Adding to the last post. The Fa cup final will also be played after the game at Stamford Bridge which I’m very glad they’ve done.
