Dottie or ???

Bought her off the Lowe’s clearance rack because I loved her colors and thought I could rehab her easily (😂 my pre learning about Calathea days). No tags and now that I have managed not to kill her, I wanted to confirm what type she is.

I am see Dottie as a possibility, but wanted to be sure and from anyone with more experience than myself.

Thanks 😊

(Pardon her dusty leaves! ‘Bath’ day is almost here and she is front of the line)

Please help save my plant 😭

I got this Northern Lights calathea about 5 days ago and she was super big and strong! However, yesterday I noticed that her soil was getting dry and the leaves were curling, so I put her on my priority watering list for the next day. Fast forward to today and BAM - her leaves are super curled and she’s extremely droopy 😔 I should’ve watered her the moment I noticed the dry soil, but she was honestly doing so well before deteriorating in a snap.

So my question to you all is: is it possible to resurrect her? What do I need to do over the next few days/weeks to help her recover?

I’ve never had a plant that thrives in humidity before so I’m not sure how to go about providing that. I moved her to the bathroom today but it’s such a small space with minimal lighting. I could buy a humidifier, but since she’s my only humidity-loving plant, is there another way? Also, how much light does she actually need? I was told intense indirect light, so I had her hanging out with my other plants under lights for about 10hrs a day. Is that too much? Am I torturing her??

Please send all your advice - I don’t want to give up on her 🥺

What am I doing wrong? Why are some leaves browning at the tips?

She has been thriving! I don't do anything fancy and only some of the leaves are turning brown at the tips. I put her under a grow light to get some more love and she seems to be doing well but I want to make sure this doesn't happen again or get worse.

Any advice welcome! Thank you

Advice needed - to repot or not?

Over winter, my calathea put up 4 new leaves - two survived and two died back quite quickly (second photo). I thought it was weird that it was putting up new growth in winter so didn’t think much of it when they died, and thought I should wait for spring and more consistent light/warmth before doing anything anyway.

Well, spring is here and I’m not sure what to do. The soil isn’t looking in great shape - it’s draining/drying out pretty quickly and is a bit hydrophobic/crusty on top - not how it used to be. Photo 3 is the soil after watering. But I only repotted last year, and there’s no obvious signs that it needs repotting beyond the soil quality and whatever happened in winter to those two leaves.

Should I fertilise? Replace soil? Leave alone?

I know generally with calatheas leaving them alone is best but I don’t want that to lead me to neglect it by accident! Advice appreciated!

How long til these are acclimated?

Just repotted these three calathea in pon today, I just gave them plain water as per a Google search. How long until I start adding fertilizer to the water, etc? The two smaller ones are wick watering with a reservoir, the larger one is in a dexceder pot, whatever that is considered.

Lemon Lime Maranta due for a repot?

just recently swapped over from an opaque nursery pot to this clear pot. root growth is going crazy! it has several flower spikes, and even a new shoot from the rhizome.

Help identifying this as a Stella vs White Fusion

Can you help me identify this as a Goeppertia Stella versus a White Fusion? These pictures are from a local (online) shop that posted her as a Stella. A sales agent told me the same over chat, but I'm not very confident on their reply.

From the patterns on the leaves, I'm inclined to believe it is indeed Stella, but they are hard to tell apart.

Can you help with a few tips to identify her?

Thank you!

what's wrong with my 3 calatheas?

relatively fast after buying them they got brown around the edges of the leaves. I increased humidity, but can't get much higher thanh 50%. I feel like putting them next to my plant lights encouraged new growth but the leaves still come out with brown edges. I water them weekly and fertilize bi-weekly since march. any ideas on which factors are most important to imrove for my 3 calatheas?

I caved

I found white fusions at a plant festival, sourced directly from the sellers (no department store tax). Cheaper than all I have seen, I paid less than 4 euro.

I promised myself I won't have a white fusion. I have a white fusion.

Any tips and well wishes? I know they are a magnet for pests so she's quarantined for now with the rest of my recent plant haul, anything other than "normal" calathea care I should know about?

Redemption

Last spring (my very first) calathea died on me after only about three months 💀

My new one, brought home late February, is THRIVING.

She has successfully produced two leaves since, is currently in the process of unrolling two, two are still coming in and a tiny new shoot is poking through the soil.

I approached her with a lot of reverence and caution this time and I'm so proud of myself and her.

I feel lik3 I've redeemed myself for the first one's death a little....fingers crossed this beauty continues to do well 🥹🤞🏻

I brought my girl back from the brink of death and now her leaves are curling

I repotted her to rescue her, checked her roots which were good, added a humidifier AND another calathea friend and she started thriving. Now her leaves are curling and wilting. I haven’t changed anything since I barely saved her, but I feel defeated she is struggling please help! I don’t want her to die. I’m so so bad at plants.

This does look like a Maui queen? But still not? The lines are more straight than a Maui queen?

does my pinstripe need a repot? (concerned newbie)

Hello all!

This pinstripe has sentimental value to me, so I'm afraid to make any mistake that might kill it. But I also have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to houseplants.

In the 2+ years since I received it, the poor thing hasn't really changed much in size. It's in a NE-facing window where it gets several hours of indirect sun every day. I water it when I notice it drying out. I don't think humidity is a huge issue (except for a couple leaves with crispy tips, which grew during winter when the heating was on).

But the soil looks a bit off to me. Would a repot be my course of action here? (It's been in the same pot since I got it.)

If I were to repot, would I wash away the old soil and replace it entirely? Or just sort of shake the loose stuff off, leave some with the rootball, and fill in the new soil around that?

I feel like there's been a wide variety of information in the places I've looked, and I'm feeling a bit lost. I appreciate any guidance I can get. Thank you! :)
