Roof down and tunes playing... What song would you play in the moment?
I just want the lost reliable boxster that’s fun, and the engine won’t just randomly explode from Ims. I was thinking a 2.5 986 with low miles for like $12k with dual row ims and $8k left over; or a 2005 with like 60k miles, clean, manual for like $17k with $3k left over. Mostly of them have the small single row Ims though, is it overplayed. I don’t know what to do!
Hi All,
I currently own a 06 MR2 MK3 and have done for 2 years now. I absolutely adore the car and look after it like I birthed it and it has treated me well in return. However I am starting to want something a bit quicker, that will me to have a bit more fun with the rear end, but still feel as balanced as mid engined sports cars do, while also looking the part. Hence I have stumbled onto either a 986s or a 987s. I live in the UK with a budget of around £15,000. I am 21 years old and so insurance is going to be expensive, but I'm hoping that I can work out ways to make it slightly less of a robbery on my bank account.
I was just looking for some advice on what people think is the better idea at my budget. I preferably want something between 03 and 06, with under 60 or 70k miles. Do you think I will be able to get a good example at this price range, as I don't want to buy something that then breaks my bank and ruins me each month.
Any advice would be amazing, and appreciated highly.
Found the unicorn. 1 family owned - 2 titled owners. 54k miles. Car was being consigned at a high end German Service shop 3 miles from home. Never realized a 26 year old interior could look so amazing. Kid asked me why I was smiling so much while driving. Time to teach him to drive a manual!
Is this a decent deal? It’s a 1998 in arctic silver with metropol blue interior and roof; it has 62,000 miles and has significant work done in 2022 (per the photos). My main purpose will be weekend driving in the summer and car will be garaged.
My main concerns are whether I am overpaying for a Base or should spend another $3-4k to get a similar S. I’ve been looking for comparable cars with similar service records and haven’t seen much significantly cheaper in my area.
Planning on few upgrades. Wheels. Not too much more. Bust mostly I plan to drive!
Have a 2002 with blue soft top and a glass window. It’s tearing from the window seams and is shaking/wafting a lot at speed. Assuming I’m going to need it replaced.
Does anyone have any recommendations for replacements. I’m assuming go glass is a better idea then the plastic. But any suggestions?
Love the Spyder RS look but unfortunately that car is out of my budget. Looking to transform my 2022 Boxster GTS 4.0. Thoughts on the look?
Apologies for the wind noise as the noise only happens when driving, but if you listen you can hear some kind of airy whining/squealing noise coming from the driver side rear wheel/engine area. It seems to change with the acceleration and go alay at idle speeds. I joke that it sounds kind of like seagulls but I’m not sure what it could be. Any help is appreciated.
02 Boxster Base model. I checked all the pulleys and none are squeaky (dont recall if I was able to check the water pump though) if that helps.
My 04 one owner base with less than 33k on the odometer. Full records, but with such low mileage damn near everything is ORIGINAL including the entire suspension and brakes. I’ve already had to put new rubber on due to the age, refurbished the CV boots, replaced the water pump and thermostat and I have the brakes and rotors for the front ready to slap on. I’ll be planning on refreshing the suspension next summer.
Upgrading the wheels on my 2022 Boxster GTS. Which looks best. Grey or red lettering?
I think the window could be slightly misaligned but the seal is sitting behind the glass so water shouldn’t get in. Is it an easy job to do myself or should I just leave it? 986 boxster btw
So this will be my first ‘nice’ car, having driven a Vauxhall Insignia for the last 11 years. My friend, the ‘car guy’, is saying the 2.5 is adequate. But I’m thinking why not go all out with an S for an additional ~50hp?
Getting conflicting info online about if this is overfilled dangerously or not! Car hasn’t moved for 3 weeks and some say to test hot and some say cold. Should I drain some or is it ok?
I’m restoring my 2002 Boxster S over 100k miles and don’t know anyone else who has one so I’m joining this group for tips. It drives pretty perfect and I plan to keep it as long as possible.
Any suggestions on the first few things to do?
