My Happy Place

Work in progress, any suggestions what to add to the right side desk or what to do about lighting?

More images can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/4zZBy56

For the left desk I plan on getting a TV for the left wall (and remove the painting)

For the middle desk I plan on getting monitor arms, one more monitor on the left and and one monitor on top of the middle monitor.

I am also looking at elevating the speakers in the middle desk on a shelf or speaker stands.

Don’t mind the cable management for now, WIP.

Help me improve my recliner battlestation

Help me improve my recliner battlestation

Hi everyone,

Imgur for more photos: https://imgur.com/a/A4R4a7P

So I ripped off a recliner workstation from this post a year or so ago to help me manage my raging back pain. But I added one component: I CNC'd a plywood desktop that gave me more freedom and allowed for more comfortable arm positions.

There's one improvement that I'd love to make, but I'm not sure if I have the best ideas so I thought I'd ask you: The desk top HAS TO be rested on the recliner armrests so it is stable. So whenever I want to get out of the setup, I have to awkwardly hold the desktop, and move the whole setup (there are casters) and then get out and put the desktop on the recliner armsrests. Same has to be done for when I'm getting in.

It's not a huge problem, and I've lived with it for more than a year, but it would be awesome to fix it.

Currently the desktop is held by a monitor arm that's connected to a center pipe (that I had to add later, because the desk wasn't in my original plans).

Do you have any ideas on how I can make the desktop independent from the chair, without losing the flexibility that the current setup gives me?

I have considered using two monitor arms on the sides to support it (instead of one in the back), but I did experiment with it once and moving the desktop around and changing its position isn't nearly as convenient as when I'm using one arm. So I think the solution should only impact when I'm not using the setup, and basically not have any impact on when I'm using it.

TIA!

First set up of 2026

Current set up until I can get the two Ikea Alex drawer pairing with a Lagkapten tabletop combination. Just splurged on the OLED & rtx 5080 rig, so that won’t be for a while!

Yes, that is an iPad pro mounted as a third display.

My Work/Battle Station

Honestly could use better wire management particularly behind the screens, but it’ll do for now. Need to hang the frame as well 🙃

This is my first time having a desk that isnt a joint desk tied to my wife, and first time having dual display. Besides cable management, any suggestions on how to make the set up more fun or different?

Built a little 2000s corner on my desk

Built a little 2000s corner on my desk

Not sure if this fully fits here, but I wanted to share my setup :)

Left side is my main setup (monitor + laptop), and on the right I’ve got a Toshiba TV with a matching DVD player from around 2005/06 (Xbox 360 hooked up just out of frame).

Also on the desk:

- Modded 2DS (CFW + custom themes)

- 2 PSPs

- iPod Mini on an iStation Logic 3 dock

*- Xbox 360 controller + keyboard

And yeah, Linkin Park, Meteora was what I had playing at the time 🔥

I’ve always liked mixing older tech with newer stuff, so this is kind of my little retro/modern corner.

Built a small desk display for music with synced lyrics. Would you use this?

Built a small desk display for music with synced lyrics. Would you use this?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a small desk display focused on music. It shows what’s currently playing along with synced lyrics, styled to match the album art.

The idea is pretty simple. Instead of checking your phone or switching tabs just to see what’s playing or follow along with lyrics, it’s always there on your desk.

It connects through an app and lets you control the experience and customize how everything looks.

Still early in development, and I’m trying to figure out if this is something people would actually want before going further. I might make a small batch available depending on interest.

Would you use something like this? And what features would you want to see?
