Accuracy in time of arrival

I love Apple Maps, but compared to Waze or Google Maps, it’s never accurate. It never takes into account the actual traffic. For instance, from work, the daily traffic is usually around an hour. However, Apple Maps barely shows any traffic and says it’ll take only 23 minutes. Why is it not accurate? Am I doing something wrong because I mainly use Apple Maps?

Apple’s route suggestions are so dumb sometimes

I know it’s my “preferred route”, but if there’s clearly an option to save 10 whole minutes, why would you not show me that? And what’s worse is that I literally never use any other routes besides those 2, so it should know that I’ve never used those other 2 suggested routes.

I’ve seen this so many times that I wish I could just force it to only show me the differences between those 2 ways that I go, but it always disregards it and never shows it.

One month auditing Apple Maps in Ukraine — detailed reports submitted, but no visible updates yet

Over the past month, I’ve been testing and documenting Apple Maps data accuracy in Ukraine.
So far:
10+ detailed reports submitted
renamed streets and cities documented
missing businesses and POIs reported
outreach sent directly to companies like McDonald’s and WOG
Some reports were reviewed, but there are still no visible updates on the map.
One interesting pattern keeps appearing:
search often recognizes new names before map labels or POI layers update.
I’ve also heard similar experiences from users in Poland, Spain, and other European regions, which makes this feel less like a local issue and more like a broader data refresh problem.
At this point, it seems Apple Maps in some regions may operate with delayed or uneven update pipelines, especially after 2022.
Still continuing to monitor cases and compare:
search behavior
map labels
routing
POI visibility
Curious if others are seeing similar delays in their regions.

Nashville Starting To Get Street View

Nearly all of roads don’t work but a select few do in Downtown. Hopefully this means an announcement for full street view and the more advanced lanes and tree views in iOS 27!

Is this a real place?

I have thought to myself for years about if this was actually a real place and if it is where in the world is it?

Apple Maps No Longer Showing Directions in Fiji

I moved to Fiji earlier this year from California. Originally, I was using Apple Maps, but the directions weren’t great. I switched to Google Maps. I just upgraded to iOS 26.5 and figured I’d give it a try again. Now when I try to get directions the option is greyed out. If it does let me click on Directions, I’ll get an error message that Directions are not available in this location. I tried downloading offline maps, changing regions, reset location services. Still getting the error message.

EDIT: Just confirmed with a coworker he was using Apple Maps last week. Now it’s showing the same no directions error for him.

Still no DCE in Sacramento

It’s crazy that so many years since launch and we still don’t have DCE in the capital of the state Apple is in. Outside of the capital building (no color yet though, and it’s been like this for years)

Apple Maps is launching ads on iPhone soon | Will ads ruin the Apple Maps experience, or is this the ultimate tool for local businesses? 🤔

After updating to iOS 26.5, you’ve likely noticed a pop-up announcement regarding the introduction of advertising in Apple Maps. Apple has decided to begin serving ads through Apple Maps in the US and Canada this summer.

Apple is offering businesses a new way to gain visibility, but will do so while being very deliberate to keep your experience as a user first and foremost, Here are the changes you need to know:

  • Where will ads be located? You won’t see ads everywhere in Apple Maps. Ads will appear in two specific areas: (1) at the top of search results and (2) in the Suggested Places panel.
  • What will the ads look like? Apple design has integrated branded subtle blue backgrounds with an “Ad” tag on all ads.
  • Is my data being collected? Apple is committed to keeping your data private. Your location data and clicks are not connected to your Apple Account, and absolutely no personal information you supply to Apple is given to advertisers.
  • Do I have a new way to advertise my local business? Absolutely! You will now be able to directly provide your store or business information to customers who are performing high-intent searches in Apple Maps through the new Apple Business site!

This is a great change that will generate significant new revenue for Apple, without implicating consumers through unwanted tracking.

Waze and Apple Maps

Assuming that all the glitches and problems have been resolved for now, which is better for USA and Canada travel in cities and highways? I am aware that there will be favorites but from point of view of function and reliability, if that is possible.

Thanks

how does apple transit choose which lines to showcase?

i'm wondering why is it that apple shows lines in certain cities but doesn't show them in others.

i'll choose France as it is what i know best: for example, Metz's BRT lines are constantly visible, but Nancy's Trolleybus BRT line is not.

there's a lot of inconsistency concerning BRT Lines. Paris' and Rouen's BRT lines are visible, Strasbourg's and Nantes' are not. and many such cases. why is that? is it apple's choice? is it a choice of the transit authority?

even more peculiar, Valenciennes has a full modern tram system that is not visible or usable through transit trips at all, for some reason
