Hello Anno fans,

Our last release for Anno 117: Pax Romana, Update 1.5, was not in the state it should have been, and we’re very sorry that this resulted in many of you not being able to enjoy the game the way you deserve to. The quality of this release did not match our own expectations for what an Anno release should stand for.

We also want to be completely honest about one specific mistake. While talking about our first DLC, Prophecies of Ash, we announced that the new island would be the biggest island in Anno history. That statement was wrong. The sizes of the construction areas were compared incorrectly between Crown Falls (Anno 1800) and Cinis (Anno 117: Pax Romana), comparing “buildable grids” for Crown Falls with “all grids” for Cinis (resulting in the mentioned 13% difference) – while it should instead have been a 7% “buildable grids” difference in favour of Crown Falls. These numbers made it into our communication without another review closer to release, and we apologize for the confusion caused by this.

Taken together, all of this didn’t meet our quality expectations.

So, what are the next steps?

Most importantly, we’re working on fixing those recent issues. The hotfix deployed on PC on Saturday and on consoles today addressed two types of critical crashes.

We have another patch lined up (1.5.1.1) that is currently being tested and planned to be released next week.

Among other things, we’re addressing several issues you reported to us:

  • Amphitheatre games can’t be started
  • Filter can’t be applied anymore in the trade menu
  • Ships names being changed upon province change
  • Ships being removed from their trade routes upon activating DLC 01

Full patch notes will follow in the next days and we are working on releasing another patch later this month.

Furthermore, we are reviewing our processes: How we plan, how we review releases and how we validate quality. That means: we’re not just looking for quick fixes to the recent bugs, but are also putting in the work to improve your experience for our future releases.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and concerns and for rightfully holding us to high standards. Just like you, we love Anno 117: Pax Romana and for many of us, working on this beautiful series has been a part of our lives for many years already.

We will keep working, listening and improving.

Multiplayer?

Is anyone willing to play a multiplayer match? I’m basically a noob but much more interested in multiplayer than campaigns. I have played other anno titles tho.

Peaceful land bug.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered I tried googling and haven’t been able to find a fix.

I’m currently 20 hours in to a campaign, I play slow and like to build. But I can’t land any troops on voadas islands or attack her ships.

It says I’m at war with her but she doesn’t act like we are at war. Iv attacked her trade routes as part of the quest but can’t attack her outposts or main island or any other ships just those related to the quest.

Is there any fix to this bug? I was able to finish the campaign before by attacking her when it first came out but now that the new DLC is out I wanted to run it back seems like I can’t progress though and I don’t really want to start over.

Edit to add: Iv already tried restarting the game and reloading previous saves but nothing works. I have an entire feet and army to take her down but can’t lol

Do you guys thinks it is worth it for quick money in the beginning.

Maybe you need a Neptun island?

Disaster comes in threes..

Hello again everybody! I just wanted to share a crazy moment from the game I just had. In the span of minutes, the following three disasters hit me at once:

-A big riot broke out on my main island, happiness had only recently dropped to the red level

-Voada raided my main Albion island with a large amount of troops landing

-My escort mission went south losing all five of my ships sent

I was able to recover pretty well with the exception of my lost ships, but it was a pretty stressful and challenging time for sure. Has this series of disasters hitting all at once happened to anyone else? If so would you mind sharing your experience?

What’s the deal with Anno 117?

I have 600 hours in Anno 1800 and I always find something to do. When I start that game, I easily sink 4 to 6 hours into it without even noticing—there's always a task waiting.

But with Anno 117, I get bored pretty quickly and I’m not really sure what to do next. It feels like it’s missing a 'red thread' or a sense of direction. The research tree is way too slow compared to the actual pace of the game. Honestly, Anno 117 isn’t a bad game; it has all the ingredients to be a great Anno title. So what is it? Why am I struggling to really get into it?"

DLC quest is not starting

Hi all,

I have a weird problem. Yesterday I played the DLC for the first time with a friend in coop and after loading into the game, Caecilia immediately started talking to me and the quest chain popped up (producing a statue, etc.).

Now I loaded my big save and wanted to also start the DLC for the first time here. But Caecilia doesn't start any quest. I also did all researches and even settled on the island... but nothing. I assume without the quest chain, the volcano mechanic doesn't work.

I also loaded an older save, same problem. Anyone knows how to trigger the quest chain?

EDIT: I finally managed it via reloading the save file over and over again.

some complaints aside, I've been able to see how the DLC fights into the overall game and I think there's a lot to like

volcano events are pretty monumental, they're rare enough to feel special and have an exciting mix of danger and reward, shoutout to the soundtrack for it too, maybe a slider for frequency would serve more players but I personally like it where it's at now

obsidian is an interesting layer of good thats produced mostly as a byproduct of others, and I like how they've incorporated it, statuettes give starter islands a native option to fill all t4 needs (since a starter island will never have sandarac or minerals) as long as it has marble, and latrunculi add some much needed happiness and a powerful aoe

the new specialists, while a bit confusing on their face, can help shake up the stale state of fertilities, I've particularly appreciated being able to add copper or tin to albionic islands with only one

Vulcan is sick, he's better than ceres imo bc he improves the conversion of pop to workforce, letting you do more with the same number of houses without ceres' city status bloat

his exaltation buff is also CRAZY strong, +pop aoe is the best aoe there is and its added to so many buildings and isn't even the only buff, I will keep him exalted from now on for sure, my only complaint is that it is visually confusing bc smelters retain their negative fire safety, which will still stack multiple times on anything within range of more than one, but it doesn't seem like it would bc the building just says fire - 0

to be clear, I like the way that works, I think its correct for balance, I just think the way it's displayed is confusing

lastly shoutout to the new research branch, I'm glad it has things that extend beyond DLC content too like the upgrade for porridge stands

overall I think it shows that their DLC are indeed capable of better integration with the existing game now, and testing/technical issues aside, its a really nice update

How do you set up your island production?

How do you set up your island production?

As you all know, every island is different so different islands are needed to fulfil all needs to the max.

Of the options below, what do you do?

  1. Do you have all islands extract the unique raw goods to export to your main for production of the final item. Example extract Snails and Flax for shipment to main to create Togas/Loungers
  2. Do you have islands refine raw goods to a 'material state' (Snails > Dye) and ship to main to be used however
  3. Or just do the whole stage start to finish if the island allows it (Has Flax and Snails, so the island can make Togas)

Additionally, for items all islands can make (Porridge, Bread, Tunic etc) do you have all islands produce these at a risk of an excess (Yeah, I know you can just sell), or do you have one island produce the item, and the excess exported to your other islands?

My thoughts so far are that the added content is pretty decent overall - for reference, I didn't directly pay for the DLC as I had the pre-order full game with 3 DLC version.

The big island is a nice addition, and having specialists bring fertility is a great touch. I also like the new obsidian market - it adds harder market to purchase things as money is easy late game.

That said, the volcano going off so often gets a bit annoying, and when the ash cloud rolls in for about an hour, it’s hard to see anything. I kind of wish there was an option to disable it or at least make the cloud more translucent.

Curious how much others have played it so far and what your thoughts are?
