What’s the deal with Anno 117?

I have 600 hours in Anno 1800 and I always find something to do. When I start that game, I easily sink 4 to 6 hours into it without even noticing—there's always a task waiting.

But with Anno 117, I get bored pretty quickly and I’m not really sure what to do next. It feels like it’s missing a 'red thread' or a sense of direction. The research tree is way too slow compared to the actual pace of the game. Honestly, Anno 117 isn’t a bad game; it has all the ingredients to be a great Anno title. So what is it? Why am I struggling to really get into it?"

Hey, can anyone give me some tips on how to deal with the research tree in Anno 117? I find it really annoying and it’s kind of killing the fun for me. For example, having to research quay walls even though all harbor buildings already have them feels off.
