How bad is this

I am getting finasteride delivered to me already, but I wanna know if it's particularly bad right now, or if it even is balding.

Does it start for me? Questions and recap for next steps

Hi all,
The pictures attached to this thread show my current scalp.
I’m 35, and I’ve noticed that the “swirl” has grown in a visible way.
It’s been like this for a few months, now. I really didn't notice anything before.

Obviously, photos depends on lightning, angle, etc.
Still, can we say the hairless it’s “starting” and it will now widen over time?
Am I correct in assuming in hairloss genes could still “kick in” last “late” as 35yo?
and Is it thus worth it in my case too look into it? (Or if alternatively it would stay like this for a while)

Looking at the subreddit for the past couple of months, here’s what I understand for next steps:

  1. Choose one of the medication to start with.
  2. In most cases, it would start shedding, and actually would make me lose hair in an even more visible way for multiple months.
  3. Only after a year, it will start growing again, and improving.

In terms of medication:
I’m looking at Dutasteride, as it looks like it’s the most efficient molecule. (From the chart here)
Should I go for something else first?
What’s the difference between all of them?
Is it just that some work better, depending on the person, or they are more aggressive, different side effects? Do all need to be taken everyday?

Also:
As results would only appear for a year, does it then mean that if I try one of the methods, I should stick to it for a year, or would I know earlier if I should switch?

That’s quite a few questions, but I hope it’s clear and not too much.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Genuine advice needed

(Kind of interesting story to read)

Im 21 years old male and the family of my father's side is bald but the family of my mother's side is not (some of them have slightly receding corners like in the picture but at a older age like 35). Everyone says I have the hair genetics of my mother's side because they all have thick straight hair meanwhile my father's side have had very thin curly hair.

On the picture the left (for me the right) corner is receding deep meanwhile the right (for me the left) is not deep.

When I shower I don't notice any hairfall maybe I can count 10 hairs and that's it.

I recently bought 20mg/g nizoral shampoo, I bought saw palmetto and I bought minoxidil 5%.

Currently im only using 2x a week nizoral shampoo .

I also appointed a dermatologist in like 4 months just to get their opinion.

I'm really concerned about the left corner in the picture not about the right one. The last photo shows that side from a different angle.

This started when I was 18 years old.

Based on the story, and the pictures Please share your opinion and how far will it go ???

Why has my right temples reced so much while my left is still kinda stable😭

M16

Tbh at this point idk when I started losing hair, but prob around 13 or smt like that.

My left temple (first pic) still kinda looks like mature hairline, while the right one starts to look like norwood 3 😭.

For now im on topical minox that I got prescribed 2 weeks ago,so there wont be any change, and yes im using it twice daily.

I also started to thin on top which I also dont like😑.

Does anyone else have similar problem with temples as me too? Bc Ive never seen somone with such a diffrence in both temples.

Should I hop on 25M

I ordered fin and am thinking of using a pill cutter to take .5mg a day. Before I decide I’m going to

Hop on this for the rest of my life I want to know what others think, obviously I always get the “are you crazy you aren’t balding” from my girlfriend but anyone who is less than a nw3 gets that. Do you think I should hold off given the lack of progression over the last 4 years or hop on? First pic is 2022, second two are this week. The first is from Snapchat and mirrored the wrong way.

Decided to get a buzz b/c of overall thinning and receding hairline - is it the right thing going forward?

(26 M) Title says it all, was tired of constantly trying to fix my hair to look good, and minox/dut topical aren’t helping a ton (can’t do oral, sadly).

Curious on y’all’s opinions - Slides 1/2/3 are pre, slides 4/5 are post. Do I grow it back out, go shorter, shave it all off, wear a white powdered wig, something else?

Thanks!!

Should I start finasteride and minoxidil?

Hello, I am 34 years old and my hairline has been bothering me for the past two years. I'm in perfect health except when it comes to stress and anxiey. The first three pictures are from today and the fourth is from 10 years ago. My Dad is 64 and somehow has the same hairline as me but my mom's dad had the last image in all the Norwood scale pictures. Should I give finasteride and minoxidil a try? I keep seeing lots of hair falling out in the shower and I'm getting very nervous. And advice would be extremely appriciated. Thank you!

Am I receding? 21

My friend recently mentioned my hairline was starting to recede after he told me he has begun taking medications preemptively for his hairline.

I have mullet like hair, short front and sides, long back.

I have never seen difference in hair, seems unchanged - never noticer thinning or receding (my hair is naturally fine - genetics)

These are pictures of my hair both wet, and combed back, as I often comb is slicked back.

I can see its a little less full on the side bits as pictured, but that might be haircut / genetics / combing

Thoughts?

Dermatologist basically laughed at me

I could really use some outside opinions. I went to go see a dermatologist who took some pictures with her laptop and said "look you aren't even really thinning get some blood work done and I'll see ya in 6 months"

28

i think my hairline is fully intact but I got some diffuse top thinning and then a nice bald spot / maybe cowlick? lol

unfortunately been in a bit of a manic state trying to figure out where I stand and next steps
