I recently adopted a cat and have been looking into what vet to take her to. I’m a graduate student at ISU and I work in the veterinary medicine building doing research so I would get the 15% off just going here. I have heard however that it is super expensive to go here still and that you often pay the price of waiting over an hour for a regular checkup because they are constantly training their students. Are there any other places that may be cheaper and more affordable in Ames or even in neighboring towns that are good? I do have pet insurance that covers basic vet care so that should hopefully help a little bit with cost. Any advice would be appreciated!

This might be a really stupid question, but are there any ATMs in Ames where you can deposit cash directly into your account? My credit union is super far away and I’m wanting to put some cash into my account. Would it perhaps be better to do like a money order check?

So I've been feeling like the party scene in Ames has been a little quiet lately, and I want to do something about it.

I'm in the early stages of planning a themed bar night called "2015 Called", basically a full throwback to peak 2015 music. We're talking:

- 2016 Pop Songs (Bieber, Post Malone, Early Drake, Travis, Taylor Swift, Chainsmokers and more)
- All the songs that were on every playlist, every party, every car ride.

There is no specific dress code. Just come, enjoy the music and live the memory

I’m not looking for zero customer service, but I’d prefer less constant interaction as I’ve worked two customer service jobs simultaneously for too long. I know Barilla is hiring, but I don’t know if it’s worth it. Considering trades as well, but unsure about the payoff. Any decent paying jobs in the area that fit this description?

Looking for personal input and recommendations for an adult beginner

I recently moved from Texas and am very excited at the prospect of being able to hang around outdoors without risking heatstroke. I adored Reiman gardens and am looking forward to the farmer's market starting up downtown. I'm not particularly sporty but I'd be willing to try anything if the recommendation is passionate enough. Parks, trails, hidden gems; what are your spring favorites?

Our neighbor keeps leaving their dog outside at night and the poor thing keeps barking to be let in for like an hour. They do this in all weather (rain, snow, and below freezing included), is there anything we can do? Seems cruel.

Does anyone have any idea where I could get a bunch of paper ream boxes (I’m willing to pay for them)?

I’ve called Staples, but they aren’t allowed to sell or give them, and I’ve called several print shops and they use them.

I work from home, so no office print room to nab them from.

Can anyone ease or confirm my nerves- what are the chances of getting an Uber back to Grimes after the Luke Combs concert?? Tried to schedule one and it says not available.

How would you guys describe living in Ames? Would the culture be drastically different than West Texas?

Curious about dive bars, cafes, bookstores, record stores, galleries, etc that have events in town. I’m a touring performer from Detroit who had a show fall through last minute. Trying to dig around —- stand up comics, musicians, spoken word artists, etc who sometimes set things up would also be really awesome to know. Where do open mics happen? Punk shows? Poetry readings? That type of thing?? Thanks! Hope to see your city.

Any recommendations for pest control in the area? Specifically ants 🐜 they’re driving me insane already

I (23F) went through a rough "breakup" with my longtime best friend (26F) last August. I went through all the motions of being a sad little depresso espresso. I've finally healed and am ready to move on and make some new friends. I am big into Minecraft and Stardew Valley. I also really love cosplaying and going to Renn Faires. Oh, and I'm SUPER into watching Amberlynn Reid content.
