Hey yall. I love the thought of overlanding but I’m a broke college student. What would be a good year and model for my first overlanding bike? I’m not worried about power or taking care of it, I’m a motorsports driver. I know how to work on engines and I’ll figure it out pretty quick. I don’t want something very heavy but I also don’t really want a dirtbike. Something quick and light but not too light would be nice. I live in Utah as well. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

PS: talk to me like I’m stupid please, I have never had a motorcycle.

I did the course and got my motorcycle license and want to hit half the OBDR this summer with some friends. It's a long story but I can't own a bike of my own, only rent them and so my riding experience is limited to the license course and a day long off road riding course I took. I have extensive camping and mountain biking experience and am physically fit. It's probably a bit dumb to hit the BDR with my experience level but is it like i'm definitely going to break something level?

Thanks.

It might be possible to put the summer windshield back on. What do you think?

Hi everyone! I know I just joined this group and please let me know if posts like this aren’t allowed, I didn’t see it in the rules! My father made an IG and YouTube account for his ADV bike. I’ve been trying to help his account grow. He’s not a very social media savvy kinda guy. But he’s very very passionate about his posts. He is open to ideas and ways he can improve his content as well.

If y’all want to check it out that would mean a lot to me, I know he doesn’t do it for the views but I want him to know that his content is cool.

His socials, if allowed and you want to check him out. Are TheEverydayADV on IG and YouTube.

TrackScout Updates

It is hard to find where to go ride

  • You have done your research in forums of the area
  • You have poured over paper maps, buying BDR maps and etc.
  • You have joined a community and found people to ride with that are your Magellan's, your pathfinders...
  • You have purchased the best GPS equipment
  • You have enjoyed every moment getting lost and finding your own way, but maybe with anxiety
  • You have moved to a new area without knowing what to expect or the first place to take your bike
  • You are left with almost limitless options, not knowing which is suited to YOUR ride
  • You are nervous about finding yourself on quasi-legal or trespassing on private roads and trails

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

This is why I made TrackScout! I love motorcycling. I have been riding since I was 4 years old, relying way too much on my father's memory and trying to permanently store my own navigation set. I am sure many of you have been there... I have lived in many places and ridden all over the country. I am always trying to find that perfect piece of twisty dirt road that can fill my day and not feel like the "same old thing" Or when I get ambitious and say I will be out all weekend and my distances have a longer reach.

(Ask me anything about TrackScout features, I will be happy to answer in time!)

Updates:

Routing & Route Quality

  • Background routing-failure messages in the chat window (fixed)
  • Pass cycleway (no motorized vehicle) warnings to the user on route creation (added)

Handed my Kove 800X Pro to my friend and jumped on his KTM EXC 300 for the first time. We then took turns attacking a steep hill climb to see how each bike handles it. Shot in Megara, Greece.

Thaï New Year on Two Wheels 🏍️💦

After 4.5 years on the road riding our 2014 BMW F800GS from Switzerland to Thailand across 45 countries… experiencing Songkran (Thaï New Year) on our motorcycle was honestly one of the coolest moments of the entire journey 💦🏍️

We celebrated it in Chiang Mai and Sukhothai, and it turned into the best New Year experience of our lives.

Imagine riding through the city getting soaked from every direction for hours, buckets, hoses, water guns, ice water 😅 Yet somehow everything still feels incredibly friendly and respectful.

Absolute chaos. But the fun kind 😜

If you ever travel through Thailand, try to be there around April 13–15 for Songkran at least once in your life 🇹🇭
