I want to start learning after using fl studio

I've been producing in fl studio for about four or five years now and want to expand my knowledge. I just got ableton and have not touched it yet, what would be a good place to start learning? I'm looking for free courses, youtube channels, projects i could do, stuff like that

Which piano VST do you use and does it "waver"?

I've been using the free piano samples (the Ableton Grand Piano and the Arturia Ananlog Lab V American Home Grand), the problem I'm having is the sound wavers on notes that are held a long time, sounding very sampled and fake.

What piano VST are you using and does the sound waver on long held notes?

Hey guys, we built an AI production assistant for Ableton → looking for beta testers

VIXSOUND - AI assistant for productionin Ableton Live

Hey everyone 👋

We've been working on building VIXSOUND, an AI production assistant for Ableton, which means a small desktop app that runs alongside Ableton and basically gives you a production assistant you can talk to while you work.

The idea is simple: you stay in the creative seat, and the assistant handles the boring/tedious stuff so you don't break your flow.

Some things you can ask it to do:

  • "Give me a dark trap drum pattern at 140 bpm" → drops a MIDI clip on a new track
  • "Find a warm analog pad and load it" → searches your library, loads it
  • "Separate the stems from this track" → drag and drop, done
  • "What's the key and tempo of this loop?" → tells you in seconds
  • "Turn this vocal into MIDI" → transcribes it
  • Plus the small stuff: volume, panning, sends, device params, anything Live exposes

A few things we really cared about while building it:

  • It generates MIDI, not finished audio. Your own instruments and plugins make the sound, the assistant just speeds you up. You're still the producer.
  • Everything audio-related runs locally on your machine. Stems, samples, project files, none of that ever leaves your computer. Only the text you type goes to the AI.
  • Whatever you make is 100% yours. No royalties, no attribution, nothing weird.
  • Native app, no terminal, no Python setup, no "git clone this first". Install and it just works.

Right now it's macOS + Ableton 11/12 only. Windows and Logic Pro are on the way (waitlists are open for both).

Why we're posting:

We genuinely need beta testers who produce music day to day. We've been staring at this for too long and we know we're missing stuff. Especially curious about:

  • What feels useful vs. what feels gimmicky
  • Whether talking to your DAW feels natural or just annoying
  • Things you'd expect it to do that it doesn't
  • Bugs, weirdness, anything that breaks

7-day free trial, no card required. Link's in the comments so we're not spamming the post with URLs.

We'll be in the comments all day answering anything, and honestly happy to take the heat too if you think the whole concept is off, that's also useful. Really appreciate anyone who gives it a shot!

Why the hell does ableton keep crashing when I open a project???

Why does this keep appearing when I try to open a file.

I was just working on a session when the thing crashed so I reopened the file but it kept showing that error pop up.

“A serious program error has occurred.

Live will shut down after this message box is closed.

Please restart Live and follow the instructions in the

'Report a Crash' lesson that will appear in Live's Help View.”

Please help!

Plugins to know about

Hey! What are some cool free plugins to download on ableton, that also work on older versions (ableton live 11 in this case). If anyone has any suggestions it would be great to know! :)

Machine mk3;

Volca Korg drum

Volca korg keys

Cosa consigliate?

Mac book air o Mc book pro oppure sto su Window

Ma vorrei stabilità.

Vi ringrazio già per l'aiuto.

Mi andrebbe bene pure un portatile Mac del 2020 deve fare solo quello musica e live non altro.

beginner problem in Ableton Live.

Hey so it’s my first time using Ableton Live (obviously) and did a really cool chord progression using MPE that took pretty long to make. Anyways, I accidentally clicked on record and now it sounds horrible, it’s like all on sustain and not changing the tone after the moment that I clicked record. What happened? Is there any way for me to make it sound normal again? I couldn’t find any arrow that takes you back like in PowerPoint. Sry I probably sound like someones grandma but I was rlly proud

Huge thanks for the feedback on my last post! Here’s my new UK Garage WIP—would love your thoughts on the progress.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to start by saying a massive thank you for the feedback I received on my last post. Your advice was incredibly helpful and really gave me the boost I needed to keep going. It’s amazing to have a community like this.

Following that advice, I’ve been working on this new UK Garage track. While I’m proud of the direction, I’m still hitting a bit of a wall when it comes to getting that polished, "pro" sound.

I’d love your honest thoughts on this work-in-progress:

• Sound Design: Does the sound selection feel intentional and unique, or does it still come across as a bit amateur/stock?

• The "Groove": UKG is all about the swing. How are the drums and the bassline interacting? Does it feel "danceable" enough?

• Mix Balance: Are there any frequencies that stand out as annoying, or anything missing in the low-end that would give it more weight?

Any tips or critiques to help me get this over the finish line would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for helping me grow as a producer!

Is there a Splice Studio replacement?

I never really got the chance to experience Splice Studio.

Looking through some of these subreddits, it seems like people miss it. Is there a solid replacement out there?

I just want to make my workflow easier on a day to day basis.

Cmd F Change

In the last few patches Ableton has changed it so that pressing cmd f deletes whatever was written in the search bar.

This has been driving me nuts!!! I've gotten used to typing first whatever I want and then pressing cmd f to search the entire system. I know this might be a bit of a stupid workflow but it's what I've gotten used to. Now I find myself writing everything twice. I tried getting used to it but I'm still repeating this mistake again and again.

Please change it back to the way it was or at least add an option to change it. I've had many different issues with Live through out my 10 years of using it, this is the first time I've actually felt the urge and gone out of my way to write a request/feedback. Please Please PLEASE add this function or any way of changing this, I've been losing my mind!!! PLEASE!!
