Melting Guide (step-by-step)

Hey friends!

I got a lot of questions about melting the hairline on this wig, and thought I'd post a guide on how I do it! I am by no means good at this, but the method below has never failed me. I like to wear my wigs 'glueless,' meaning no lace glue, but I do allow products that mold it/stick to my head when needed.

First, the products and which picture its used in:

  • Used in 1st picture: Frontal Queen Melting Spray
    • Benefits: Seamless melt. Strong, all day hold. Stays put and allows me to wear it over night. It comes off easily with water
    • Con: Will slide off if I sweat too much lol
  • Used in 2nd picture: Ebin (see edit below) Melting Mousse (or any mousse really)
    • Benefits: Loose hold. Allows me to snatch the wig off when ready, no water needed. Melts well enough for me to get away with it out in the world
    • Con: Not as secure, not as good of a melt. Doesn't mold down the edges of the lace.
  • Used in 3rd picture: Water
    • Benefits: This is truely the ultimate glueless method. No product needed. Molds the lace to my head which is just a step above putting it on.
    • Con: I have to let go and let god lol. A strong wind has the potential to humble me and snatch my wig. The melt is not as good here either, the lace is apparent up close.

Second, the method:

  1. I put the wig on, position it, and brush the hairline back a little with a little water on the brush/comb.
  2. I take the product/water and put it on TOP of the lace to saturate it. I use a clean makeup brush, or my finger to be sure I get all in the lace.
  3. This is the most important step, especially if using the melting spray or mousse: I LET IT DRY. Like its no longer sticky or tacky and is dry to the touch.
  4. I then put on my melting band, and let it sit for at least 5 min.
  5. I take off the melting band, and I know I did it right if the band doesn't stick. And the pics above are what I get each time!!!

I have tried this method with an outre wig, and while it works ok, it seems to work best with HD lace wigs like the one I have on in the pics above. Just an observation, I don't have much knowledge on the different lace types, so maybe someone else can fill that part in.

I hope this helps! And if anyone has other products they can recommend for glueless wigs, please share!

Edit: I added a photo for the person who DMed me about how to style this wig - spray the wig with a little water in a spray bottle, use 2-3 flexirods, and let dry for 2 hours. You will get you those big sexy beach wave curls!

2nd Edit: OMG so apparently Ebin is racist and exclusionary to their black women employees!! Please check the comments for a story link to a former employees tiktok where she shares the details. The more you know - thank you to the people who made me aware!

Just wanted to show the lace on this one

It’s HD lace and I melted it down with some melting spray + a wig band. I left the band on for a while and honestly I’m really happy with how it turned out 😭 The lace blended way better than I expected. I did some braids myself too!

I used to second guess this style on me but I’m finally feeling way more confident in it

When I first got the wig, the sides were kinda too bulky which made the top look a little flat on me, so I trimmed and shaped it a bit to make it more rounded. I feel like it fits my face way better now and looks a lot more balanced overall. Lowkey glad I trusted the process 😂 what do y’all think? I’m actually obsessed with how the lace is looking now.(And before anyone asks, the wig is from Luvme Hair)

Update to “What am I supposed to do with this?”

Ignore the lifting lace, I’m winding down for the night. I mixed in some blue Adore hair color into Velvet black and brushed over the processed roots with a spoolie. I topped it off with some Perfect Line Swiss on the underside of the lace.
I just couldn’t part with this unit just yet!

Tips ?

Hello, I feel like I’m doing a nice job at my wig installs but something still feels off. I did pluck and bleach this wig, what else could I do to make this install a little better. I wanted to show the install in different lightening.
This wig is from Pizazz on TikTok shop ❤️

Personal review of Sensationnel Bare Lace Synthetic wig

All I want to say is…it’s giving. If you handle it well, use an unbrush hairbrush, and a light spritz of silicone wig spray for tangling, it’s worth it for girlies on a budget. I’ve had this wig for a YEAR (this picture taken within 8 months of use) and I definitely feel satisfied with it.

I do not wear it 24/7. If I do wear it for 24 hours, it’s for no longer than 2 days. In order to maintain it, I usually braid it into pigtails during (depending on how much I want to fuss with brushing it throughout the day) and after use. It’s not flat at the top but that’s since I didn’t do anything beyond cut a face shaping swoop in the front lol. Getting it flat is achievable, imo.

No filter used unless iPhone did something to it.

Straight out the package vs (some customization)

I want a more realistic hairline so I decided to do custom ventilation to the hairline. I still need to do plucking but I’m really excited for how this will turn out ☺️

Anyone purchased from WhatWigs?

Update:

After further clarification, I do better understand where some of the confusion came from regarding timeline uncertainty, and I do not believe this was a malicious situation. I received clarification today that the wigs/hair actually had not arrived yet from his vendor, so it makes sense why I hadn't been able to receive a revised timeline. (My original concern was mainly that once the first order exceeded the original timeframe, I still did not have a revised ETA to realistically plan around for upcoming obligations, travel, and events.)

I also realized some of the discussion in the comments had started moving away from my original goal of simply asking others whether my experience with the timelines was normal. I went back and corrected or addressed comments that I felt became unnecessarily emotional or personal because I wanted the discussion to remain fair. I still believe clearer and more consistent timeline estimates across the website and Shopify pages would help avoid confusion for future customers, as I noticed different estimated timeframes listed depending on the page.

At this point, because of my current schedule and timeline needs, I’ll still be moving forward with a local option that already has units available. That said, I did want to update this fairly now that we were able to communicate further and come to a resolution directly. Based on the messages I received, I still believe many customers are very happy with the overall quality of his work if they are comfortable with the wait times.

Original post

Hoping to get insight from real customers. I ordered two wigs from WhatWigs. The processing time was written as 3 to 4 months on my final receipt I received via email from the Shopify store receipt and I was fine with that - but now I’m past that window and still haven’t received them or gotten a clear update. My first order is over the 4 month mark, and the second order most likely will follow behind that as they were ordered a couple weeks apart from each other.

I emailed this week to check in and didn’t hear back. I did end up commenting on Instagram, and he messaged me there. He was very nice and said he’s working on them and that longer wigs can take 3–4 months, but when I mentioned I’m already past that timeframe, he just said there are delays. Of course I was super happy and thanked him for his time during this but now looking back on this, I never actually got a real estimated timeframe.

What’s making me uneasy is the lack of normal customer feedback. Most of what I see are celebrity/influencer posts, which look great, but I’m not finding the usual tagged posts, reviews, or everyday customer experiences like you see with other well-known wig brands. If I scroll long enough, I’ll occasionally see a non-influencer comment saying they haven’t received their order after 7–8 months. I actually messaged one of those people, and she said he kept promising he would send the wig and never did. She eventually had to dispute it with her bank after over 8 months. A few other girls have since messaged me similar issues they had which has made me uneasy.

I understand custom wigs can take time, and I don’t mind waiting, but I do think it’s reasonable to expect somewhat accurate timelines and communication, especially at this price point. I was also told he’d move my order up, but didn’t give any timeframe. He mentioned I can select the option to expedite for future orders, which confused me since that wasn’t an option when I purchased. But considering I ordered well in advance of the original stated timeline and have already given him over that time, I started to feel his response was kind of strange or lacking any understanding of accountability on his part. It's fine if he doesn't want to do everyday wigs for people but let us know in advance we will have to wait years or whatever it is. I just want the truth lol I’m starting to get close to the window where I may not be able to dispute the charge, so I’m trying to figure out next steps.

For anyone here who is a regular customer - Did you receive your order? - How long did it take? - How was communication throughout? - Did everything arrive as expected?

Trying to figure out if I should keep waiting or take action soon. Thanks in advance.

Thoughts on Luvme all-day comfort wig

Has anyone worn this wig for a long time and can provide input on its quality on durability? How long have you had it? How often do you wear it? And how has it held up for you?

Anyone tried beginner friendly wigs with built in grip instead of glue?

been lurking for a while trying to figure out where to even start with wigs. i've been wanting to try them properly for ages but every time i get close to committing i get intimidated by the whole application process. glue and tape feel like a lot to deal with as someone who has never done this before and i keep worrying about damaging my edges before i even know what i'm doing.

lately i've been seeing caps that have a silicone strip built in along with a drawstring and that honestly sounds like exactly what someone like me needs to start out. the idea that something is physically gripping your head rather than relying on adhesive sounds so much more manageable especially when you're still figuring everything out.

has anyone here started with something like that as their first proper wig experience and did it actually hold up the way it sounds like it should? and did it make the whole learning curve feel less overwhelming or did you still run into issues even with the built in grip? just trying to figure out if that's a smarter entry point than going straight into glue and hoping for the best.
