Anyone purchased from WhatWigs?

After further clarification, I do better understand where some of the confusion came from regarding timeline uncertainty, and I do not believe this was a malicious situation. I received clarification today that the wigs/hair actually had not arrived yet from his vendor, so it makes sense why I hadn't been able to receive a revised timeline. (My original concern was mainly that once the first order exceeded the original timeframe, I still did not have a revised ETA to realistically plan around for upcoming obligations, travel, and events.)

I also realized some of the discussion in the comments had started moving away from my original goal of simply asking others whether my experience with the timelines was normal. I went back and corrected or addressed comments that I felt became unnecessarily emotional or personal because I wanted the discussion to remain fair. I still believe clearer and more consistent timeline estimates across the website and Shopify pages would help avoid confusion for future customers, as I noticed different estimated timeframes listed depending on the page.

At this point, because of my current schedule and timeline needs, I’ll still be moving forward with a local option that already has units available. That said, I did want to update this fairly now that we were able to communicate further and come to a resolution directly. Based on the messages I received, I still believe many customers are very happy with the overall quality of his work if they are comfortable with the wait times.

Hoping to get insight from real customers. I ordered two wigs from WhatWigs. The processing time was written as 3 to 4 months on my final receipt I received via email from the Shopify store receipt and I was fine with that - but now I’m past that window and still haven’t received them or gotten a clear update. My first order is over the 4 month mark, and the second order most likely will follow behind that as they were ordered a couple weeks apart from each other.

I emailed this week to check in and didn’t hear back. I did end up commenting on Instagram, and he messaged me there. He was very nice and said he’s working on them and that longer wigs can take 3–4 months, but when I mentioned I’m already past that timeframe, he just said there are delays. Of course I was super happy and thanked him for his time during this but now looking back on this, I never actually got a real estimated timeframe.

What’s making me uneasy is the lack of normal customer feedback. Most of what I see are celebrity/influencer posts, which look great, but I’m not finding the usual tagged posts, reviews, or everyday customer experiences like you see with other well-known wig brands. If I scroll long enough, I’ll occasionally see a non-influencer comment saying they haven’t received their order after 7–8 months. I actually messaged one of those people, and she said he kept promising he would send the wig and never did. She eventually had to dispute it with her bank after over 8 months. A few other girls have since messaged me similar issues they had which has made me uneasy.

I understand custom wigs can take time, and I don’t mind waiting, but I do think it’s reasonable to expect somewhat accurate timelines and communication, especially at this price point. I was also told he’d move my order up, but didn’t give any timeframe. He mentioned I can select the option to expedite for future orders, which confused me since that wasn’t an option when I purchased. But considering I ordered well in advance of the original stated timeline and have already given him over that time, I started to feel his response was kind of strange or lacking any understanding of accountability on his part. It's fine if he doesn't want to do everyday wigs for people but let us know in advance we will have to wait years or whatever it is. I just want the truth lol I’m starting to get close to the window where I may not be able to dispute the charge, so I’m trying to figure out next steps.

For anyone here who is a regular customer - Did you receive your order? - How long did it take? - How was communication throughout? - Did everything arrive as expected?

Trying to figure out if I should keep waiting or take action soon. Thanks in advance.
