r/WidespreadPanic

The Panic crowd is much nicer than the Phish crowd.

I have been seeing Phish since I was nine and Panic at 15 (my dad wanted me to be older at my first panic show). I have been to 8 shows so far; Asheville being my first three shows. I have noticed that the Panic crowd is a lot more kind than the Phish crowd. Not saying that the Phish crowd doesn’t have nice people. I feel like the panic crowd just has more of a concentration of nice people. When I was at the first night of Birmingham a guy in front of me in the pit asked me at least 3 times if he was blocking my view. He wasn’t even blocking it at all. The panic crowd has made me feel more at home when I am at a show. I also get that a lot of you are also phish fans too, please note I am not trying to insult you.

Edit: sorry if my grammar is horrible, the people on r/toolband think English isn’t my first language.

Wook’d out of seats at 1st show

Brought a couple female friends for their first WSP show last night and they got wook’d out of their seats. A bunch of crazy wooks started dancing in their space and pushed them out of their seats, then the wooks didn’t let them back after they left for the bathroom.

They liked the show but couldn’t handle the wookery.

Red Rocks Advice?

Potentially planning a RR trip and never been to a show there.
Looking for advice on best places/areas to stay and any other nuances of travel for this run. I’ve got flights covered already. How is ride share to and from the venue?
Thanks in advance friends!

Flagstaff 4/5/97: absolutely up there with the best of spring 97

I just listened to this show for the first time this week. insane how great this night was. the whole tour is very good but this show is def a major standout. jams everywhere. 20 min chilly water. train kept rolling jam during floozie. very high energy.

most panic fans know about the louisville show from this tour but this one deserves the same attention for sure.

anyone here that was there that night? I wonder how many people showed up. sometimes panic would drop a nuclear bomb on a town when not many people showed up.

Please retire Good Morning Little School.

It’s pretty cringe at this point. I don’t feel like that’s all that controversial, but I will catch hell for saying it. Let’s face it Old Men singing about a Little School Girl. Not great guys.

Hi, Turner with The Sandbox Channel here. Tune in tonight for the premiere of 6/21/98 remastered. Stream kicks off 8:30 ET at The Sandbox Channel on YouTube. Stay tuned after the hour long set for the first time played of Lou Reed's "Vicious" from 10/31/03 at Madison Square Garden.

Vegas N3S2

I’m going out on a limb and saying that 2nd set was the best I’ve heard since Mikey died. 20 some odd shows in and it’s this good?! Listen to that Avis, machine Barstools, Paymh, ride me high, love tractor. That was church!

The greatest band in the land is making their way west for the first time this year to blow the roof off of Las Vegas.

What’s everyone hoping to hear this weekend?

I have:
Ribs and whiskey
Bears gone fishing
Space wrangler
All time low
And Pickin up the pieces

Pretty basic picks but i feel like i have a good shot at hearing a couple of these.

But I’m curious, what are the 5 songs yall think they’re gonna bust out during this run? Any sleepers they’re gonna dust off the shelves? Whats the opener gonna be? Leave your 5 songs in the comments!

Also, all 3 shows are already live on Pick5 if you wanna give it a go. We’ve been having a lot of fun on the app competing with other fans and can’t wait to see who comes out on top this run!

Houser’s Hands

were so efficient and smooth. His right hand technique, precision, fluidity, etc. So incredibly dialed in and relaxed. He’s the reason I bought an electric guitar in 1998 and will always be one of my favorite guitarists of all time.

Please help a newbie out

Hey y’all! My boyfriend is a HUGE Widespread Panic fan, but I had not heard their music until meeting him, so I’m way behind. I’d love to get into them so I can jam out more with him. It seems like there’s some interesting lingo surrounding the band, fans, etc. What words/phrases do I need to know, and where do I even start with listening to their discography? I’m excited to be able to participate more thoughtfully in our morning dance parties LOL

TL;DR: what lingo do I need to know as a newbie, and what songs to start with?

Top 5 2020s Panic shows?

Trying to get into more of the post covid era as I’m a newer fan who only really grew up with the older shows. What are some of the best shows from recent years?
