Wells Fargo “Monthly Service Fee”

Wells Fargo charging $15 a month just to have an account is INSANE. It used to be $10 a month as long as you had $500 near the end of the month, but they changed it to $15 a month if you don’t have $1,500.

This is robbery like I’m literally paying a Subscription to the bank just to have a bank account… 😑 I’m going to be switching banks even though I’ve been with Wells Fargo for 15 years. Any recommendations for a bank that does not charge a “monthly service fee”? Are you guys as mad about this as I am?!

They are only taking a monthly fee from people who are struggling… like wtf

Racketeering.

Is it legal for Wells Fargo to decide that they will loan me money, at a flat interest of $35 per transaction, to complete recurring transactions when I have no money in the account?

Furthermore, is it legal for them to require "protection" money from me if I don't want them to loan me money when I haven't asked for a loan? Because that seems to be what paying them for "overdraft protection" is.

These are tactics used by organized crime.

They could easily deny those transactions when there is no money in the account but they say they can't do that.

They CAN do that. It's just that they won't do that.

That's called stealing.

Now if I want to stop any further "loans" to be approved without my knowledge you might think that I could close the account thereby blocking all transactions. No. They won't close the account until the negative balance has been paid. So if it takes a week for me to get paid, then they have that whole week to process more "pre-authorized" payments for which they can continue to decide that they will loan me the money to complete those payments at a fee of 35 dollars per transaction.

This is extortion.

We have protection rackets. We have robbery. We have extortion.

At this point, given that it is an organization which is committing these crimes, we have all of the requirements, according to federal law, to qualify this as "racketeering".

Am I wrong?

A recent report came out claiming Wells Fargo engages in racially discriminatory lending practices, such as denying Black & Latino families' home loans more often than those from white families, even when they make MORE money

Members of Wells Fargo Workers United (WFWU) are disappointed yet again to see Wells Fargo fail to support its customers as 'well-s' as it could. WFWU wishes to share this report because we want to see our company become a better place for both workers and customers! And it's going to take the help of all of us workers and all of you externally to see it happen through a strong labor union

Fraud claim denied. Am I completely screwed? Any help or advice welcomed.

About 6 weeks ago, I received an email from an online sports betting site welcoming me and thanking me for a deposit just under $2000. I never had or created an account with this company, so I immediately checked my bank account and sure enough, I was charged just under $2000. So, I immediately called Wells Fargo, they froze/cancelled the card used, opened a fraud claim, issued the money back to me as a provisional credit and sent me a new card. I was notified by the online sports betting company that after I cancelled the card that 2 additional attempts were made but obviously unsuccessful due to me cancelling the card. I really had no concerns because I thought they would investigate and come to the clear conclusion that I had not made or authorized any of those charges, until today.

So, I was trying to buy a coffee this morning and my card was declined, the cashier was saying they were having trouble with their system but I just used another card and it went through, so I went on with my day. I again tried to make another purchase in the afternoon and my card was declined again and that's when I checked my account through the app, my account was overdrawn. This never happens to me, I'm very careful about making sure I have enough money in my account to cover anything, so I check the transactions to find that Wells Fargo REVERSED the provisional credit and withdrew the $2000 out of my account!

So, obviously I call them, they transfer me to the fraud dept, the fraud dept tells me the claim has been denied. I'M LIKE HOW?? I did not make those charges, how can the claim be denied? They explain, that the card merchant, VISA, has determined that the claim was not substantiated, because the online sport betting company confirmed the charges with my personal information. I'm like WHAT personal information was used to substantiate that it was ME, they said my card number, my name, my email address, and my home address. I'm like THATS IT?!?! I asked, so all of the information you are saying was provided is literally found in a quick google search?! Not my SS #, not my computer or phone IP information, just the above listed information. She just kept saying, yes, it was denied. I asked to speak to a supervisor, as she apparently could not help me. The supervisor got on the line and was even more dismissive and said there is nothing they can do for me. I'm like, so is my money just not safe with Wells Fargo then, should I just cancel all of my accounts with them and she was basically was like if that's what you want to do, then do it. I told her, I thought they have fraud protection, fraud was committed against my account and they can't do anything? She clarified, SUBSTANTIATED fraud is covered. This was determined by the card merchant as unsubstantiated. WTF?!

I'm in shambles over here. My daughter is getting married this summer and this was money I am supposed to be using to help pay for the wedding. I did not make these charges. How can they take my money like this? It's $2000, not $20 or $200 but $2000 and I'm just supposed to eat it? I don't know where to go from here. I asked the fraud sup for the number to VISA, turned out to be a wrong number, I asked for the online sport betting company number, which turned out to be a company called Navex, who apparently investigates whistleblower claims.

If you made it this far, thank you, and any, I MEAN ANY help would be appreciated. I'm going to go file a police report tomorrow and go to the branch after but I seriously don't know what else to do.

Terrible screening experience

I applied to be a teller and I receive a screening date I join the call the dude joins late and immediately I heard kids screaming and yelling , he has a super thick Nigerian accent he starts talking and I don’t have a single clue on what he’s saying his microphone sucked and I try explaining kindly that I don’t understand what he’s saying and he says I should move to a different room for a better connection, he continues talking but I don’t understand and i eventually just hung up out frustration

Have anyone else experienced this ?

Clear Access Bank Account

My girlfriend's regular Wells Fargo account was closed because Zelle wrongly flagged it for fraud. The Zelle transactions were from me, they were legit, and I never reported them as fraud because it somehow tickled their algorithm. But what's done is done, and we need to figure out next steps.

I know WF has a second-chance Clear Access Banking account for people who are flagged in Chexsystems, but does anyone know if she'll be barred from that because her regular account was also at WF? I mean I'd be surprised if she wasn't blacklisted from them for now even if they don't run Chexsystems on the Clear Access accounts.

How can I get them to release my deposit?

Hello! I have a question. I opened up a Wells Fargo bank account online and then I went to a local branch to cash/deposit a $4500 settlement check from a well know company. They released $275 to me but are holding the rest until the 28th. Is it possible to get it released earlier if I bring in paperwork and stuff verifying what it is? I really need that money NOW. I am so behind on so many things, and I'm sure they could call the bank that issued the check to verify it. I'm just really needing to know if it's possible to convince them to release it before the 28th.

Way to Save Fees!

I have an Everyday Checking & a Way2Save account. I just casually noticed that I had a total of (6) $5 monthly fees, presumably for having a low balance. I had about $7,500 in it until I swiped it over to checking in October to pay my tax bill. I’ve carried much higher balances in the checking account since that is the one that the income passes through. I overlooked the balance in the Savings because I don’t really utilize it much. Is there a good chance that WF would waive these fees ($30)?
