Calculus is ruining me

I’m struggling to pass calculus. I don’t know what it is, I met with the professors and they said I was ready. I got just under passing again… I don’t what to do. I saw older post stating to do it on “Sophia learning” but I don’t think WGU is accepting transfer credits after admission. Anything I can ask for to help with me passing?

I'm owl done I'm owl done!!! MSCS

Not sure what I'm gonna do with my non-work time, now that I don't have to feel guilty for doing literally anything other than homework.

What'd you guys do with your spare time once you graduated (those of you that are done already)?

I feel like there were millions of things I've been wanting to do for the past 6 months but didn't have time. Now that I'm done I can barely think of any.

Finally done!!🎉

Started in November 2023 after completing my associate's degree in CS at a community college. I am 30 years old and worked full-time while obtaining this degree. Big thanks to everyone in this community for advice and motivation! Any questions or advice, I'd be glad to give my input!

Progress and some motivation

Hello

I am finishing on an intense semester in order to finish my wgu degree as soon as possible. I wanted to share my progress and also give some motivation to other's.

Currently only 3 classes missing and I still have 3 weeks to go. I transferred around 52 credits, which left me with 18 classes. I have 11 weeks left, so i think we are going on a good pace.

I will preface this, I am a software developer who is currently working, with almost 4 years of experience, hence I already knew a lot of what was taught in these classes.

Once I finish I may do an additional post to review each class individually one by one. You can totally do it, don't give up.

I am doing this to pass the hr filter for a degree, I had opportunities where they said we would hire you however you do not hold a bachelor's. I am also from Canada and i plan to most likely work in the USA in the future, but the work visas associated with those require a bachelors.

Just keep at it, stay consistent. I try not to take my foot off the gas, with WGU it is easy to slack off, but just keep going, you will be surprised what you can accomplish. Hopefully this serves as motivation for you reader.

Do you think I could complete these last five classes in 6 mos with ease? Or would I be pushing it?

MSCS WGU - difficulty

Hi,
I have obtained my CCNA and have a bs in ITM from WGU.

I’ve been trying to dig for answers but I’m curious to see if anyone’s managed to get through MSCS computing systems with my similar circumstance - no coding or CS experience.

I understand I need to take a pre req course but not sure how difficult the coding side of the degree is.

If there’s anything you suggest I dive into before taking on the degree, please let me know.

Happy May (basically May already) to all the new, existing, and former WGU students. We would like to take the opportunity to plug two Discord communities for your WGU (pre-, current, and post-) educational journey. Whether you're currently enrolled, recently joined, or exploring WGU as a potential student, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved and connect with others walking the same path as you!

Unofficial WGU Discord

The Unofficial WGU Discord has over 15,000 members and averages 3,000+ messages per week. We have a large FAQ channel, a ton of resources to help with PA/OAs, as well as a dedicated military/veteran community. We have channels and support for all 4 Colleges at WGU (Health, Education, Information Technology, and Business) with quite a lot of engagement by current students and alumni.

It's free to join and a good complement to reddit for information and resources related to WGU, so why not check it out?

https://discord.gg/unwgu

WGU CS Discord

If you happen to be a Computer Science or Software Engineering Major at WGU, there is a more focused Discord server that is highly recommend. The WGU CS Discord has over 5,000 members with dedicated channels for each course in the programs and highly focused discussions relevant to CS and SE students and alumni. It is ALSO free, so check it out too if you are interested in CS/SE.

https://discord.gg/tny9ewPUBT

Ok, but really why should I bother with either Discord server?

  • Support for Degree Programs: Each server has multiple resources and forms of help. Each server has a plethora of FAQs, general/Major/career discussion channels, individual course focused threads, and even places to discuss hobbies. This is the perfect space for participants to connect, collaborate, and share valuable resources.

  • Organization: Both servers have taken a unique approach to organizing the servers it to make it easier for you to navigate and find the resources and discussions relevant to your studies.

  • Rich Resource Pool: Our communities are filled with valuable resources, notes, and helpful insights shared by fellow students who've walked the path you're on.

  • Master Resource Sheets: A huge resource hub of guides, videos, and tips exists for both servers.

  • A more interactive chat experience: Unlike reddit or Facebook groups, Discord is an interactive chat platform. You are far more likely to have running discussions and conversations on Discord than either reddit or Facebook.

    • NOTE: You will get out of the chat experience what you put in. Just remember that the people on the other side of the chat have lives and responsibilities. Please be patient if you don't get an immediate response to something you post.

How Can I Contribute?

  • Share Your Wisdom: If you've found a resource or strategy that's been particularly helpful, share it with the community!

  • Engage in Discussions: Your insights and experiences can be invaluable to others. Don't hesitate to join the conversation!

  • Ask Questions: Stuck on something? Ask away! There's no such thing as a silly question and you might just be surprised how many others have had the same issue/question.

    • NOTE: You are expected to have done at least some basic research/searching for your question/issue. Additionally, you will get far more responses if you ask a specific question with details and then are patient for an answer. People are more likely to answer verbose questions than something generic.

So, what are you waiting for? Come join us on Discord for conversation, collaboration, help, and fun. We have it all.

D387 Docker Desktop application is stuck on Starting the Docker Engine...

I have tried restarting multiple times, checking and unchecking various settings in different places within Windows, running many commands that are recommended online, reinstalling Docker, and so on.

The Settings along with any button at all are unresponsive. If I try to go to those menus, it is covered with the same message. The Restart and Quick Docker Desktop options do not work. I've tried Ending Task on all instances of Docker App.

If anyone has run into this, I would love to hear what helped you. I've never used Docker before in my life and this has been the most frustrating and awful experience I have had with any software in my life.

I first took the preassessment and barely passed it. Then, my course instructor sent me some material to review for the OA. This is what I used to pass:

Quizlet (Great help for the preassessment) - https://quizlet.com/1075050836/d685-practical-applications-of-prompt-flash-cards/

Comprehensive Study Guide - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aOBUaLjrjE1PV8K8JPL7820f25IvA2Ao/view?usp=sharing

Kahoot - The Kahoot my instructor sent me expired but it was a non timed Kahoot of about 42 questions.

Course Material:

Course Practice Test A and B: Would go through both tests and read why each answer was right making sure to understand everything clearly. If I thought another answer would be right, I would select it to see why did not fully understand why an answer was right, I would select another answer on the question to see the explanation on why it was wrong.

Section Tests: Would go from section 1 to 4 starting with the Test A for each section then go back to Section 1 all the way to Section 4 doing the same process but with Test B. Would do the same process that I did on the course practice test of reviewing each answer to confidently understand why the answer was correct.

I would also practice these questions whenever I had the opportunity, whether I was eating or doing some other mundane task.

After about two days of doing this, I took the OA and got Exemplary. My tip if I had to do this again is to review the quizlet to pass the preassessment 1st try. When I got the email is when I got the study material so hopefully your instructor sends you a kahoot to study. Pretty easy and can be done in two days if really focused. I was kind of worried that I needed to know everything to pass but this is all it really took.
