I’ll start with the positive. I got my elem

Ed Bach from WGU and it was super ideal for my lifestyle as a mom of littles. I went back for my masters with licensure pending a job offer at an international school overseas.

From the very beginning I told my mentor my goal: I have a job offer and I wanted to get my early/advanced clinicals handled so that by this upcoming fall all I’d have left is student teaching. Getting coursework done has never been my issue — I’ve always accelerated. My concern was all the hoops: background checks, state certification stuff (GaPSC in Georgia), Compile, etc. I even did my GACE/Praxis early in 2026 so tests wouldn’t hold anything up.

The problem is, every “step” seems to have 10–15 sub‑steps, each with its own long page to read, and any time I ask a specific question, I just get sent another link or routed to a different person. I’ve talked to my mentor, a local placement specialist, someone named Jordan, and random support folks. Everyone keeps pointing me to “the steps,” but my questions are about what to do when I’ve done the step and things still aren’t populating correctly, or what I could have been doing earlier.

I also feel like my mentor never really helped me plan backwards from my goal. It was always, ‘What can you get done by next week?’ instead of, ‘Here’s what needs to be in place months ahead so your early clinicals and student teaching line up.’ Now it’s basically May, there are only about 20–25 days left in the K–12 school year, my early clinicals application is just now getting submitted, and it looks like I may miss this window and end up pushed to fall. That probably means I’ll have to turn down the job that starts in October.

I’m just confused why this process is so convoluted for teaching. I understand requirements and background checks, but the lack of clear, proactive guidance has me feeling like I did everything I was supposed to do and still might be off track.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Did you manage to get your clinicals lined up in time, and how did you get straight answers?”

At the beginning of this new term I got extremely sick with pneumonia and now I’ve fallen soooooo behind. If my course end date is 5/16/2026, do I have to have the course passed by that date or can I go beyond that date and be fine? I know I can push through and get everything done by the end of my term (9/30/2026), I’m just not confident I can’t get this course passed and finished by the 16th.

I just failed the OA for it. I got exemplary on the PA and only missed one question. I was feeling confident so I book an on demand for the OA. I failed. The OA was nothing like the PA.

I wouldn’t go by the PA as an indicator for what’s going to come up for the OA. The wording for the questions and answers were also tricky.

I’m really bummed out that I didn’t pass. I rarely get exemplary on the PAs so I really felt secure in the material.

I’m about to apply and start the BAELED program in September … should I take public speaking or workplace communications at Sophia or wait to take communications class at WGU? Which do you recommend/easier?

Also, what about English composition II? Sophia or WGU for this? I’ve heard the Sophia course is really hard? Any insight?

Study.com VS PRAXIS Registration Free Practice

Hi all! I have a question I’m not sure if someone could give me some input on. I scheduled my PRAXIS Core Combined test today for June 9th. I want to properly prepare. When I paid for my test, I was provided with three free practice tests. I intend on utilizing those of course, but I was wondering if that’s enough practice, or if those tests are good enough to identify weak areas.

Essentially what I’m really wondering is if it’s really worth it to spend the money on Study.com, or if I can use the free practice tests/watch videos on what I need to. How did you all feel confident and prepared going into these tests, and what did your study prep consist of?

I apologize if this has been discussed a ton already. I would really love to not have to retake any of this test.

If you're student teaching, do you count "days" where the teachers at your school attend 2-3 hours of professional development with NO students in attendance as part of your student teaching days? Or are only days with students in attendance counted?

Just finished the UFORA test and I am praying I only have to take it once.

The resources available in the Sharepoint were valuable, I just did not have enough time to truly study!

The literacy block infographic i received outlining the courses i'd need to pass is in fact NOT the same for my program (MATSPED) and was instead the MATElEm literacy block...so instead of receiving a voucher after passing Secondary Literacy Methods & Interventions, I was notified that I ALSO had to pass Elem Lit & Math Strategies and Assistive Technologies AND Secondary Lit & Math Strategies and Assistive Technologies.

Paid out of pocket and my term ends on the 31st. My score report is due the 29th, so let's pray that my scores post within the 2 days!!

Hi
I’m about 80% through my degree plan and have failed an OA a few times but this is my first time ever failing the re-take. I just barely missed the pass line on my first attempt and worked very hard with my instructor and by myself the last week to work on getting over the line. I was feeling pretty good coming into my test today and then somehow I did slightly worse than the first time somehow. Does anyone have any tricks for this class, I had no idea that this class would cause me to fail twice for this first time this far in and now I feel helpless. What’s even more annoying is the section I locked in on, key development and tools, hardly even got better and still no where near competent.

Tl;dr - I have an unrelated BA, wouldn't get paid more for a Masters, so why shouldn't I get the BA in Educational Studies and do the alternative teaching pathway?

I have a BA in an unrelated field, but I've been a SAHM for more than a decade. Returning to my previous field is pretty much impossible after all of this time, and I've been trying to decide what to do now. I had started at WGU in 2023 for an Accounting degree but became discouraged by the job market and future employment prospects, so I withdrew. Having spent much of the last 10 years at home trying to get assistance for my ND child and shuttling around appointments, it occurred to my that I might find a sense of purpose in a Special Ed position. I figured I'd do the MA in Special Education, since I have a BA already, but reading the stories about placement make this so much less appealing. My area also does not pay more for a Masters degree, and we have an alternative teaching pathway available. It seems like the best choice for me would be to get the BA in Educational Studies and then do alternative certification while getting paid to be a teacher instead of paying to do unpaid student teaching. Am I missing anything?

I’m scheduled to take the test next week and I took their practice exam and got 43/56 correct which equates to like a c. Chat gpt is telling me at least 40 questions correct to get 156. How do I accurately know?

Graduation & Failed Praxis — HELP!!

So I went to retake my core subject Praxis this past weekend so I could graduate on time. I scored a 147 and I needed a 154 to get my licensure in my state (WGU will let you graduate with a 148 on it).

Now, I just finished all of my classes and don’t know what to do. I can’t graduate without that test but I also can’t retake it for another month. My term is up at the end of this month, too soon to make another attempt before.

Anyone been in this situation? Help!

Student teaching

Hello! I have been a silent reader. I started in Dec 2025 to get my bachelors in elementary education. I have finished all of the classes other than clinical. I’m done with my state exams and just need fingerprints for clinical. Is it crazy to hope that I can do the early clinical right when school starts (middle Aug) then the advanced clinical the end of August and then start the 3 month clinical in September? Has anyone done them back to back? I know there is a mandatory 2 week in between advanced and 3 month. Also, the schools around me are not on the do not contact list from WGU about placement

I need help :( I have literally submitted this task 3 times I live in the state of Texas I cannot find the correct answer

If you do a WGU teacher preparation program in one state is it transferable to another state without having to get your credential first?

My fiancé is finishing up his elementary education credential program in AZ. We want to move to CA . Is it possible for him to use the program to get a CA teacher license outright or does he have to get an AZ license and then transfer it over?

D674 Elementary Social Studies Methods Task 2

Working on Task 2 of D674, and I am struggling to fill out the lesson plan. I don't know what I'm missing, but I can't think of anything to add. Could anyone who has passed this class offer any guidance?

Masters

Hey all! So I graduated in March in educational studies (elementary education) I switched to the non licensure route in February because I got a job offer that I wouldn’t be able to student teach during. However I completely regretted it and have since got accepted into the masters program for elementary education. Just wondering how similar the coursework is and how fast anyone accelerated through this program? I am pregnant so just wanting to get a timeline. Thanks!

C190

I know there are older posts about this, I have read them all for advice several times....I guess I am just hoping to network with people who are in the same boat as me right now. I am genuinely so frustrated about this class. It's so much information for one class and I feel hopeless. I have studied so much, watched Amobeia sisters videos, cohorts, all the things, but I can't seem to get it to click. I am not really looking for advice necessarily, but to hear stories of hope or maybe hear from others who are just as miserable as me right now haha.
