Merko? Eika?
Ačiū

What exactly are the cycling rules for the streets here?
Now that the weather is better, a lot of more people are on their bikes around the city (not just delivery drivers). There seems to be no clear perspective I've found on how cyclists can interact with public roadways. I saw a Facebook post from JUDU bragging about citations on Vilniaus gatve (which doesn't allow cyclists or scooters, but does allow intermittent vehicles) but still saw loads of people doing on bikes yesterday.
- Can I ride on a one-way street against traffic on the shoulder? There's a stretch of Old Town from Boksto to Piles near Karčma 1863 where cyclists are allowed against a one-way street, but the sidewalk is too narrow to actually ride.
- Are the laws the same for ebikes/scooters versus pedal-only bikes?
- Are cyclists able to always ride on the sidewalk? As I primarily walk places, I've found this to be the most annoying. Cyclists frequently expect me to give way to them on narrow sidewalks.
- Is there an expectation of drivers (legally) to treat cyclists like a car on the road if I'm riding on the street? I'm aware I'll be passed (frequently), but I don't think there will be the same outright hostility as the United States.
In Old Town, specifically, these are my main issues. I'm ready to get on my bike but there seems to be a disconnect on what people do versus what's legal. Given that I'm a foreigner, I'd prefer to stick closest to the lawful method.
JUDU post in question:
Freelancing (USD income) alongside full-time job in Lithuania – how to declare taxes?
Hi all,
I’m a Lithuanian tax resident based in Vilnius, working a full-time job for a local company (they handle all my taxes, social security, healthcare, etc.).
On top of that, I’ve registered an individual activity certificate and do some freelance work for US-based companies. I get paid in USD directly into my Swedbank account.
I’m trying to understand how to properly declare this income to the Lithuanian tax authorities: Can I just calculate it later (e.g. using current exchange rates) and declare a total in EUR?
For example:
If I earned $500/month in January, February, and March, do I just take today’s rate (e.g. ~$500 ≈ €424) and report it like that?
Also: Is there any way to declare income in USD but pay taxes in EUR without actually converting the funds? Since ideally, I’d prefer to keep the USD and transfer it to my Interactive Brokers account to avoid FX losses.
Would really appreciate advice from anyone in Lithuania dealing with something similar (especially with individual activity + foreign income).
Thanks in advance!
Restorano/baro pasiūlymai 30-am gimtadieniui
Sveiki, ieškau rekomendacijų. Noriu atšvesti savo 30 gimtadienį, ir galvoju kur čia Vilniuje būtų galima ramiai pasedėt su 8-10 draugais. Norėtųsi ir skaniai pavalgyt, ir kartu gerų kokteilių/alų atsigert. Gal kas turit kokių gerų pasiūlymų?
Need URGENT help regarding international student health insurance!
Labas!
I am a 35-year-old American who is supposed to be going to Vilnius University in Lithuania this autumn for my first year in one of their bachelor's degree programs— that is, if I am able to meet the requirements for a temporary residence permit in time. One of the requirements is obtaining international student health insurance, but I am having trouble understanding:
• which various plans are good ones that cover preexisting conditions and the regular treatment of them
• what the hell a 6-12 month notice period is
• how the hell one can get around that, if they can at all.
Can anyone explain this to me and help at all? I have emailed both VU's admissions office and also the woman in their international relations office multiple times within the last few weeks
LOT Polish Airlines and Air Baltic for Travel in the Baltics
I am planning on traveling from Gdansk to Vilnius then from Vilnius to Tallin. It seems like that LOT would be the airline to fly from Gdansk to Vilnius and Air Baltic would work well from Vilnius to Tallin. Has anyone taken these airlines for this or similar travel or can advise the best travel method other than driving. Thank you.
Ką manote? Ar daugiau Senamiesčio gatvių turėtų sekti šiuo pavyzdžiu?
