So I’ve been wanting to make it faster I’m on a stage 1+ eqt but I’m wanting to go faster it’s a 6 speed so what im asking is what do I need ik fs a clutch but like what other mods do I need? Thank yall in advance 🙏
Looking for information on an APR stage 1 tune for a 1.4t with the 8 speed automatic transmission.
Is a TCU tune for the transmission necessary to handle the additional power?
The APR dealership claims it won’t affect longevity or reliability. Is this true? They seem like a reputable dealer with good reviews.
Anyone have any experience tuning their 1.4 paired with the 8 speed auto?
So far, the only mod done to the car is a fresh set of Apex 17x8.5" ET43 VS-5 Wheels in Race Silver, wrapped in a set of meaty 245/45-17 Michelin Pilot All-Season 4 tires.
I recently tuned my 2018 MK7.5 Golf S (EA888.3 1.8T, AISIN auto) with EQT stage 1. (93 octane)
The tune works great for the most part and makes the car feel like a completely different vehicle. Unfortunately, I’m having some issues.
I first tuned with no modifications to the ignition system; plain old bosch plugs and the coils from the factory. (65k miles) I first noticed issues when putting the car in sport mode and flooring it from a ~20mph roll. the RPMs shot up to around 4500 and then the EPC light came on. I got random/multiple misfire and cylinder hide. Restarting the engine solves the problem immediately.
I decided it would be a good idea to get some new plugs and coils anyway, since they’re already getting old. I bought Eldor coils and NGK 94712 plugs. Before installing the plugs i gapped them to around .022-.024.
Even after installing the new parts, I’m still having issues. I haven’t gotten any codes about low fuel rail pressure, only misfires and cylinder hide. This time the light came on at around 5000RPM, which is probably just margin of error. Again, this was in sport mode. D usually prevents this altogether since it shifts so early.
