Just joined the team!

Just put my order in for the alpha prime bundle and a control module today!
Mainly making this post as back order tracker for others if they want an update for how it’s going.

Also, how long should I wait to email them for an estimate? From what I’ve been reading it looks like emailing the team suddenly speeds things along (most likely coincidence)

Edit: they reached out, they are expecting early August for my order. They also mentioned they are currently changing production schedule (not sure if that’s resulting in delays or will result in faster order shipment in the future) regardless, it isn’t like star citizen will be in 1.0 before than so I can wait 🤣

Game time

Got my setup squared away. Dual Alphas with all three panels. Installed transparent orange toggle switch guards and added white toggle switch caps. It would be great to get someone of the black throttle handles, but in a different color. I plan to get someone to CNC me a base plate so I can mount the panels and sticks as one so they don’t take up as much space wide. This will let me pick everything up and store as needed.

First-Time Customer Experience

I recently completed my first order for a full HOSAS setup. I wanted to provide a detailed look at the fulfillment process for those considering a similar jump and to share some data points on current lead times.

The Good: Support is Top-Tier I want to give a massive shout-out to the customer service team. Throughout a very long waiting period, they responded to every single inquiry in under 24 hours. Most within a few hours. They were professional, polite, and clearly doing their best with the information they had. If the hardware quality matches the support quality, I’ll be very happy.

The Challenge: Logistics & Lead Times While support was great, the backend systems seem to have a significant "disconnect." My initial 3-month lead time eventually stretched into nearly 5 months (a 66% discrepancy). During this time, I received four different ETAs that ultimately shifted.

It appears there is a recurring gap between the allocation data provided to the support staff and the actual warehouse inventory. At one point, an inventory software glitch was specifically cited as the reason for an inaccurate timeframe. It feels like the frontline staff is being failed by the internal tracking software or warehouse-to-support communication.

The Timeline:

  • Late Dec: Order Placed.
  • Early Jan: Initial estimate provided for mid-March.
  • Early March: Delay 1 (Pushed to late March).
  • Late March: Delay 2 (Estimated 1 week).
  • Mid-April: Delay 3 (Software issue cited; estimated 2 weeks).
  • Late April: Delay 4 (Pushed another 3 weeks due to specific component allocation).
  • Mid-May: Final shipping and resolution.

Final Thoughts: If you are ordering, be prepared for the "Estimated" part of the ETA to be very loose. The products and the support staff are excellent, but the logistics pipeline seems to be struggling to provide accurate data to its own team.

Is it really worth the wait?

I guess, I'm looking for some reaffirmation on my decision with going with Virpil. I joined the Kickstarter for the Advanced Flight Yoke as soon as it went live, and that was... yeah, October 2024 with the estimated delivery of May 2025. Sure, it's a new project, I knew what Kickstarter means, so I wasn't really upset that it was delayed. But it's a year later now, with the latest update from January, saying they will start shipments in Q2. It's the middle of Q2, and no confirmation, no order number, nothing... And reading the forums and this sub, this is true for most products with Virpil.

So I guess, I just would need some confirmation from you guys who have used Virpil products already, that it will be worth the wait, and I shouldn't have gone with a different setup.

R1 Rudders Main-Axis Lockdown Bolt Possible?

Is it possible to lock down the R1 Rudders so that only the toe break axis are in use?

My use case is Star Citizen, using roll on rudders (with yaw on the right stick). I tried for a while to get the main rudder axis to work for me, but the return to zero even with the hard index cam with maximum tension on the strongest spring was difficult. I kept over-resetting, causing me to roll in the other direction. The moment I put roll right on the right toe break, and left on left, flying became so much more intuitive. So now I'm left with the unused axis that rotates the whole unit, and I'm wondering if there's a slot for a lockdown bolt somewhere that I'm not able to find. (My other solution I'm currently considering is putting a stop-block on the wooden mount I'm concepting, to prevent the main axis from moving. A sort-of-sled that I'd mount rudders on to brace it against the wall and prevent movement. With adjustable distance to/from the wall bumpers.)

Side-issue... Is there a 3D printed insert anyone has a file for, that fills the holes in the top of the Falcon pedals? Couldn't find anything on various STL posting sites I searched. My toesies aren't having a fun time indexing up there, going through the holes, trying to work the toe break axis. Considering if I need to get the Legend pedals. Or I guess at least wear slippers when flying.

Hey everyone! How y’all doing?

Backstory: I’ve finally reached a spot where my hobbies fund account has been untouched long enough and accrued enough money for me to splurge a bit on a hobby. This time, it’s finally going toward simming instead of the usual “the house needs this” or “the car needs that” hobbies my wife keeps suggesting.

This will be my first HOTAS ever, even though I’ve been flight simming since I was a kid with MSFS 2000, mostly using mouse and keyboard or a controller. Since this might be my first and only big purchase for this hobby for quite a few years, I’d like to start with a bang (albeit might be more of a "pop" for most of you lol).

Here's where I'm at: I mostly play MSFS and DCS, but I like to dabble with Star Citizen here and there (this might be more frequent with a nice setup). In SC, I’m more of a hauler/miner/explorer and do my best to avoid combat, so I don’t think I need HOSAS right now, and I definitely can’t justify a HOTASAS. In MSFS, I mostly fly GA, with the occasional bigger league.

I’ve narrowed it down to three setups, but I can’t quite decide on which one to choose. Prices are fairly close because of the spring sale.

  • CDT Aeromax + VMAX HOTAS + Universal Control Panel #3
    • Pros: best in class (in my really outsider and review watcher view) that is available rn, considering mostly price:quality, longevity and software. The throttle is simple and has just a few buttons, but the stick with the modifier key makes up for it + the panel has all the buttons I could need for a beginner + a throttle quadrant (love the idea as a GA enthusiast and possible future PPL owner).
    • Cons: The stick and internals are not changeable, which makes me worry about future-proofing and adjustability. The whole setup may also be awkward on my desk at first. The panel is the priciest part (which in itself is a small con), and I’m not sure I’d use it enough to justify it. Also, I don’t see many recent reviews or community posts about these panels, which does not help my buyer’s-regret anxiety.
    • Pros: Same Aeromax positives as above, but with a throttle that has more built-in controls in a smaller and easier-to-manage package. Also, better throttle detents for DCS (most use cases), costs a bit less, and should be easier and cheaper to ship.
    • Cons: Same concerns about the Aeromax stick. Also, no throttle quadrant for my imaginary GA pilot training arc, which slightly hurts my future-PPL daydreaming. Fewer controls overall, too.
    • Pros: This seems like the more future-proof option. Better stick and base, more customization, spare parts, better repairability, and a metal grip, which my brain likes because shiny-cold metal thing good. It is also lighter and less bulky, which matters because shipping and support/reverse-logistics are not exactly easy where I live. The hardware is older and more established too, so I trust it a bit more than a newer just-launched first edition product. Most importantly, it is more upgradeable. With the CDT stick, we do not really know what future upgrades will look like, especially since the stick is, well, stuck.
    • Cons: It has the fewest buttons/features right now. I could fix that later once I get a better grip, pun intended, on what buttons and levers I actually would like to have at hands lenght. Still, it gives me some buyer’s-remorse anxiety because I’d be paying a lot for the least “complete” (feature-wise) setup out of the box.
  • CDT Aeromax + VMAX Prime Throttle

  • WarBRD-D CADET H.O.T.A.S Bundle - ALPHA Prime Edition
    • Pros: This seems like the more future-proof option. Better stick and base, more customization, spare parts, better repairability, and a metal grip, which my brain likes because shiny-cold metal thing good. So, that’s where I’m stuck. I've tried to make it as concise as possible (failed a bit, sure), so this list of reasons, pros and cons is non-exhaustive. But I feel it should be more than enough for you guys to help me with an informed opinion!

I could not, for the life of me, even begin to explain how excited and happy I am at even the actually palpable prospect of joining the club! So please be gentle with this over-stimulated golden retriever of a man.

Thank y'all so very much in advance, and sorry for the wall of text. Happy to clarify anything!

Hey yall! I'm having a weird issue with my MongoosT-50CM3 throttle that I was wondering if someone had experience with/know how to fix?

As seen in the video, it randomly changes the LEDs to yellow (only mode 5 should be yellow)

The inputs themselves seemingly work fine in sim, and I was able to use them even when switching between modes during this yellow phase.

Firmware was updated couple days ago, and new profiles were installed for the newer firmware.

It's connected to a powered USB-hub that it's been using for over a year without issue, and plugging it directly into the PC gives same weird results.

It seems like a little bit of a non-issue at the moment but it makes me a bit uneasy

Anyone got any ideas on where to start tackling this problem?

title says it all. I am looking to pick up the AH64 in DCS. I want to order my collective at the same time. I saw the collective for the soviet rotor wing but am guessing there some major differences. any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone!

I've been spending some time building a small project that I'm incredibly excited to share with the community. This utility is called Luscus, and its goal is simple: to help us all get the absolute most out of our magnificent Virpil setups through Led colors customization.

What problem does Luscus solve?
Our gear looks incredible, but coordinating specific lighting scenes for different scenarios (like different DCS mods, SpaceSim, etc.) and getting them all to sync perfectly can be a real headache.

How it works:
Luscus allows us to create, save, and switch between multiple full lighting profiles with a single click.

  • Simple Customization: You can adjust the colors and patterns of every connected peripheral individually.
  • Multi-Profile Memory: This is the core feature! You can save unique profiles (e.g., "DCS FA/18," "DCS A10-C," "Star Citizen 300i") and switch between them instantly, ensuring a perfectly cohesive visual experience across your entire rig.
  • Current Support: To get started, the tool currently supports the MongoosT-50CM3 and Control Panel #1.

Give it a try!
Landing page with details : https://github.com/LookForward-IT/luscus
The executable: https://github.com/LookForward-IT/luscus/releases

Now, I need the community's help!
This is where you come in!

  1. Testing: If you own any of the supported gear and are willing to try out v0.1.0, your feedback is absolutely essential!
  2. Expanding Support: Do you own hardware that isn't listed? Would you be interested in tackling the challenge of adding it to the compatible list?
  3. Ideas: Are there specific features or workflow improvements you'd like to see?

Looking forward to hearing from all of you and building this tool together with the community!
