Old House with Arches and Brickwork Transformed Into a Warm Contemporary Refuge in São Paulo, Brazil

An aging residence in São Paulo has been thoughtfully renovated into a light-filled contemporary home while preserving its architectural soul. Led by architect Ana Flavia Dal Fabbro of DalArqui, the project carefully balances restoration and modernization, maintaining original arches, brickwork, stained glass, and wooden beams while introducing improved ventilation, expanded openings, and stronger connections between indoor and outdoor spaces. The result is a home that celebrates history while supporting modern comfort and well-being. https://www.homescozy.com/2026/02/old-house-with-arches-and-brickwork.html

This might be one of the coolest conversions I’ve seen

If you’re driving through Warwickshire, you might spot this concrete monolith on the edge of an orchard near Kenilworth. It’s The Water Tower at Long Meadow Farm, and it’s a masterclass in sympathetic industrial renovation.

It was originally built in 1932 for just £287, but it sat derelict for decades until a builder with a fear of boring extensions turned it into a luxury award-winning stay.

The farm itself is full of life, there are horses in the nearby fields, ducks roaming the grounds, and beehives just past the orchard.

Large luxury private villa

Tucked away in its own olive grove just 4km from the Ionian Sea, this villa sits in a quiet, less touristy part of the western Peloponnese. Mountains on one side, sea views on the other.

The place is huge, fits up to 12 people, and every bedroom has its own balcony overlooking the olive groves stretching all the way to the water. Feels pretty unreal, especially at sunset.

A House of the Future in the Swedish wilderness. This off-grid Naturhus has a Mediterranean greenhouse garden inside.

If you’ve ever wondered what a 100% sustainable future looks like, you need to see Atri Naturhus in Brålanda. It is widely considered one of the most environmentally friendly houses in the world, and staying here is a complete masterclass in off-grid living.

The home is essentially a high-performance living space wrapped in a massive glass greenhouse. This design allows you to grow Mediterranean plants and enjoy a patio vibe even when the Swedish winter is howling outside.

It’s the perfect stay for anyone who wants a natural and genuine experience without sacrificing modern aesthetics. It’s peaceful, educational, and visually stunning.

Mantri villa iconic with endless sea views and pool Messinias, Greece

Stayed at a place recently that honestly nailed the whole indoor outdoor living thing.

Panoramic sea views, quiet gardens, and this beautiful stone architecture that actually feels authentic, not overdesigned. The infinity pool and outdoor dining setup were probably my favorite part, especially around sunset.

Inside, it’s super comfortable without losing character. Fits up to 8 people across 4 bedrooms, so it works well for groups without feeling cramped.

It’s one of those spots that manages to balance traditional Maniot style with modern touches without trying too hard. Works just as well for a chill off-season stay as it would in peak summer.

A semi-subterranean Hobbitat hidden in the Colorado high desert. Total Earth-sheltered privacy with views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

If you’ve never been to Crestone, Colorado, it’s one of the most unique towns in the US, and the Crestone Hobbitat is the perfect place to experience it.

It’s an earth-sheltered Hobbit-style home built into the landscape, designed to stay naturally cool in the summer and warm in the winter using thermal mass. It’s the ultimate architectural hug from the earth.

Would you prefer an Earthship or a Hobbitat for a desert stay? I think the cozy, curved walls of the Hobbitat make it feel a lot more like a home.

Big cabin with pickleball court in Broken Bow

Saw this place called Whispering Pines Estate. Sleeps 12, sits on almost 2 acres, and somehow has a pickleball court, hot tub, fire pit, plus games like air hockey and shuffleboard.

Two living rooms too, so no fighting over the TV for once. Close to Beavers Bend State Park if you feel like doing outdoorsy stuff.

No pets though.

Be honest, pickleball or straight to the hot tub?

I found a farmhouse near St. Remy that sleeps 16.

Ten bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms means no one is sharing a hall bathroom at 7am or whispering apologies through a wall. Multiple living rooms means the night owls and the early risers coexist without passive aggression.

A pool, outdoor dining, and a lawn that actually has space handle the rest of the hours. The per-person cost on a place like this destroys any comparable hotel situation, and you keep the kitchen. Alpilles light in the morning is genuinely not something you can manufacture.

Floor-to-ceiling windows in the hills above Jarabacoa.

Everyone flies into Punta Cana and spends a week staring at a swim-up bar. Meanwhile, the actual Dominican Republic is sitting up in the mountains looking like this.

Jarabacoa guesthouse, floor-to-ceiling windows, private jacuzzi on the terrace, valley views that stretch until the clouds eat them. From $308 a night. I reheated empanadas from town in the full kitchen and ate them watching the sunrise. That might be the best meal I've had in years.

This bubble dome lets you stargaze from your bed

If you’ve ever wanted to fall asleep under a celestial masterpiece without the bugs or the cold, Bubble Retreats in Agnes, Victoria, is the gold standard.

It’s a winner of Airbnb’s global OMG! competition, and it feels like living in a luxury terrarium. The bubble, named Etoile, is perched on a private mountain ridge.

On one side, you have rolling green hills and a working farm with sheep and cattle; on the other, an unobstructed view of the ocean and the peaks of Wilsons Promontory National Park

Would you feel too exposed in a transparent room, or is the connection to nature worth the lack of walls?

Dynamic pricing needs a framework or it will hurt you

Turning on dynamic pricing and walking away is how hosts end up with a full calendar and terrible revenue in slow months.

The tool needs guardrails:

Hard floor price. Never let it go below this no matter what the algorithm suggests

Peak ceiling. Set it yourself, don't leave it uncapped

Weekly comp review, not daily. Daily rate-checking is a time trap

Manual overrides for shoulder seasons because algorithms don't always read local signals well

Dynamic pricing automates execution. You still own the strategy.

I've watched hosts drop 20% revenue in off-peak because they trusted the tool completely. The tool doesn't know your market the way you do.

Are you using dynamic pricing and do you set a hard floor or let it run fully automated?
