Saw this floating around and figured I’d share because petrol prices are crazy right now and free money is free money 😂

ING are currently offering anyone who signs up before May 31st a $100 bonus. No catches other than doing a few easy things once your account’s open. Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Use the following link to sign up - Link here
  2. Deposit $1000 (you can transfer out once you receive your $100 bonus)
  3. Make 5 purchases - Just use the card you get sent on your weekly shopping (split the transaction into 5 payments at checkout)
  4. Open a savings maximiser account and deposit $1 into it (you can do this straight away once you sign up they walk you through everything)

Then you just sit back and wait for ING to drop that $100 straight into your account. You can transfer it to your main bank, or spend it with the ING card, up to you.

Took me less than 10 minutes to do everything and it’s one of the easiest bonuses I’ve seen. Longest part is waiting for the card to arrive but once you have it you can just use it with your regular shopping for 1 week.

Look im not trying to point fingers here, but also I am. I’m a singaporean indian studying in adelaide uni. Since moving here a month ago (which is why what im saying may not be fully true) I have faced racism 3 times from not white australians but china chinese. Not even their country and they have audacity to be racist to other international students 😭 I am NOT racist to chinese, all my best friends are singaporean chinese, I love them dearly and miss them so much. I love their food and culture as ive been exposed to it growing up. But yes i do hate the china chinese that are racist to me. Even back in Singapore the china chinese acted the same way, expecting locals to speak in their language as if singapore isnt malay soil… All the projects ive worked on so far have been mostly with china chinese. Im getting fed up being excluded in projects atp because they just discuss in mandarin in front of me…

Edit: Im not racist to china chinese, i hate the ones who are racist to me, which happens to be more often than not.

tutorial/workshop attendance

Does anyone know the new rules around attendance? I heard you can miss 3 but then it affects your grade (10%)?

One of my courses has attendance roll call as a listed assessment but there are no details and it’s 100 points. However, the normal assessments all add up to 100 points so I am not sure how it works.

Help with my assignment

Hi, I am studying accounting and finance. We have a major assignment due on 31st may. It is group project but as usual the teammates are not helping. I know the concepts and what to do. I have completed most of it but am having doubt in the last part. Is there any senior who can guide me through it. This is a business valuation assignment where we have to create analysis report. I know everyone is busy because of the final weeks approaching but it would be really helpful.

Thank you

Hi All,

First time to sit an online exam on Canvas will be this week. Not sure what to expect and the tutor is not helpful. All I know is that the tutor will be online to give us our passwords to login to the exam portal. The exam will be 90 minutes of MCQs and short answer Q's.

Any help from those who went through this experience before?

Thanks you

Hey there!

I'm a second-year that is a looking to switch to Adelaide University and continue a Bachelor of IT online with them. There are a few reasons why I'm wanting to switch, but one of them is because my current university has introduced an "AI assurance policy" where now all units have an invigilated closed-book exam worth 50-60 percent of the grade, which has resulted in a lot of stress because of the workload for me and my classmates. For example, previously where difficult assignments were worth 30% percent of the grade, they are now worth 10%, etc. and it is hard to maintain a good GPA because of such changes. Because of this, a lot of my uni friends are also moving to other universities.

My question for current students here is if Adelaide U also has a similar policy? How have they been mitigating against students using AI? Is there also an invigilated exam in every subject? I took a look at the course info under the Bach of IT units, however a lot of descriptions are listed as N/A so I don't have a good understanding of the assessments.

Would really appreciate any help or info on this. Thank you!

‘History erased’: Fight to keep landmark graduation hall open for business

https://www.indailysa.com.au/news/just-in/2026/05/07/history-erased-fight-to-keep-landmark-graduation-hall-open-for-business

After holding University of Adelaide graduations in the imposing, sandstone Bonython Hall on North Terrace since 1936, its doors officially closed on the highly anticipated ceremonies on March 27, prompting an outpouring of concern from former and current students.

Adelaide University student Ilya Aidman, who is studying a bachelor of law and arts, is among a group who have launched an online petition after learning that graduation ceremonies would no longer be held at the historic Bonython Hall.

As of February 16, Adelaide University announced that all graduation ceremonies for students would now be held at Pridham Hall, which opened in 2018 at the Adelaide City West Campus. University of South Australia graduations were previously held at Pridam Hall.

An Adelaide University spokesperson acknowledged that “some students are disappointed that graduation ceremonies will not take place in Bonython Hall”; however, he said that Pridham Hall would “provide a high-quality and memorable graduation experience for our students and their guests”.

“Pridham Hall also has a significantly larger seating capacity than Bonython Hall, which will enable students to have more guests in attendance at their Graduation Ceremonies,” he said.

Im prospective student and im quite shocked that the cheapest one is 300 pw. Is it normal that student residency is more expansive than js other rooms that i can search on flatmate? And is it worthy for paying it? Im also wonder if the uni offers financial support for international students with accommodation

Approximate monthly grocery budget for international student

Hi. I'll be starting Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in July. Can someone please give me an idea about how much I should budget for groceries? I'm not someone who eats out too often or makes lavish meals at home. Also from which places do students usually purchase their groceries?

What’s the location of architecture classes in Adelaide university?

Is it the north or west campus? I’m booking my accommodation and this will really help me because I want to take something near

Wanting to do med at AU with a 6.875 GPA, am I cooked?

Hey so I just heard from my friend in medicine that she doesn’t know any city (not rural) students in med that had a GPA bellow 7.0 prior to getting in… but I’ve done 1 year of the bachelor of biomedical and health sciences and my GPA is currently 6.875, even if I increase my GPA this year do I not stand a chance at getting in? Do I need to switch degrees and reset my GPA?

As I mentioned in the title, with the growing of AI and stuff, is pursuing Master of Data science still worth the time/$ and efforts?

Those who had graduated, how are you doing now and do you recommend this degree in AU?

Thank you~

Hiiiiii I'm here looking for some advice.

Withdrew from my last uni in year 2. Looking to study Bachelor of Computer Science. Got offers from Adelaide University and Monash but they're still assessing my credit transfer.

Prefer less stress because I just had a breakdown at HKUST (iykyk). That's why I'm coming back to aus lmao. VCE didn't bother me though.

I need external structure to get things done including not dying of starvation. So uni support and deadlines really matter to me.

I don't really care if the city is "fun" because I can stay home for a year straight lol. Public transport, living costs and food matter more to me.

Heard UA (now AU? Or what should I call it idk) is moving things online. Pretty sure that means I'll just rot at home (literally) alone and nobody knows that until maybe one month later. Also UA is still new after the merge. Would love to hear from current students about how it actually is.

I studied in Melbourne till 2022. Know how it was back then. Been to Monash open day a few years ago so I guess I know what I'm expecting??

From what I've seen online – Adelaide is smaller. Easier to get around. Lower cost of living. Parks and buildings look great. Sounds really really nice but I haven't been there b4.

Would really appreciate any thoughts from current or past students at either uni. Tysm🙏

I am thinking of taking an additional course for the next semester. I'm from business/eng faculty (a hybrid degree) and my program director said I can literally pick any course from the uni (of course, not from medical i guess haha). Which one would you recommend?
